Meghan: Duchess style

I loved her outfit at Prince Charles birthday party here

It had a real 30’s vibe. Loved the hat, especially at such a jaunty angle.

Her style has evolved so much since her engagement photos. Pared down tailoring is definitely her look.

Just had to give Camilla a quick mention; normally she is impeccable but yesterday’s outfit was just off. Green too bright, fabric too shiny, ruffles too much. A lighter shade of green In A Matt fabric and no ruffles would have suited her better. To me, she looked like a mint fondant fancy.

I got bored looking at the photos but I got to number 10 and thought that one was really nice.

TSSDNCOP · 23/05/2018 17:53

Eloise it’s not just a royal thing. I work in the City, it’s tights all round unless you’re wearing trousers.

Queenoftheblitz · 23/05/2018 17:53

I seem to recall it was Diana who broke the tights rule.

Rainydaydog · 23/05/2018 17:57

I can't believe she isn't off on her honeymoon!

AngeloMysterioso · 23/05/2018 18:12

TSSDNCOP I've been going barelegged in the City for a few weeks now- apart from the odd Hmm mostly from women in the autumn of their years nobody has given a damn.

TSSDNCOP · 23/05/2018 18:14

Good for you Angelo. As someone still decidedly in Spring years I wouldn’t care what you wore, but my firms dress code does.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/05/2018 18:20

My legs won't stand up (arf) to being bare. Too pale and un-shapely. Besides, wearing shoes without foot covering is uncomfortable and footsies can be seen and look messy.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/05/2018 18:35

Her tights look fine and her legs suit her.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/05/2018 18:36

And yes, to reprise the point that it is not just a Royal thing.

Chewbecca · 23/05/2018 19:49

Really liked her hat, hair and shoes and general glow she has.

Dress fit didn't look great and tights were wrong shade.

I do like the overall simple, chic image, that works for her IMO.

JessiCake · 23/05/2018 20:04

The ONLY thing I have in common with the new DoS is pathetically scrawny calves/ankles, and after years of research I have found that there are almost NO tights that don't make the problem much much worse :(

I loved the hat and the chignon. Gorgeous, both.

I don't mind the wishy-washy beige, it may not be THE best colour on her but she's stunning enough to get away with it.

I'm quite liking the fact she has an apparent penchant for a slightly looser-fitted dress. I think this is what she was going for with The Wedding Dress too (God, the wedding dress... I loved it SO MUCH). If I looked like her I'd channel the minimalist, non-figure-hugging look, too. It's very refreshing.

Also, am I right - is she EXTREMELY tiny? I think I'd thought of her as maybe 5 foot 6 ish and slim but I think maybe the reality is she's more like 5 foot 3 ish and skinny? Hard to tell as PH is so tall and she wears pretty massive heels. I'm a bit of a sucker for the look you get if you're fairy-like in proportion but wear quite sharply-cut, ever-so-slightly too large clothes. It's Audrey Hepburn-ish, I guess. And, though I'm not a fan of Victoria Beckham's and think she manages to ruin quite a lot of her look by being quite so terribly pleased with herself, I do often like the way she wears very sharp, masculine, oversized tailoring, kind of semi-drowning an already small frame.

I prefer it to tight-fitting clothes, I guess is what I'm trying to say. It's a look I try to emulate myself but I'm a tad more, ahem, healthy-sized Blush so it probably doesn't have the same impact Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/05/2018 21:01

I've read that she's about 5'7 but she does look smaller next to Harry.

Peartree17 · 23/05/2018 22:03

I think she's gorgeous, loved the wedding dress and the evening dress, think she usually dresses beautifully.

BUT...this is a horrible, shiny, nasty looking outfit. Shoes look miserably uncomfortable, everything looks hot, sweaty, non-natural-fibres. Hat makes her jaw look unbalanced (and this is one of the loveliest women around).

legolammb · 23/05/2018 22:43

I loved her outfit yesterday. Her stylists need to get her some suitably coloured tights though - I sympathise as it's bloody difficult to find tights if you're dark skinned - M&S's darkest shade doesn't cut it. Jealous of her ability to wear heels like that, especially on grass!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/05/2018 22:58

I'm sure her tights budget runs to Walfords or Falkes!

NaturalBornWoman · 23/05/2018 23:14

It might be the light in that first photo which is making the tights look so pale. There are other pictures where her legs look the same colour as her arms to me. I like the dress very much, I'm not a fan of that colour but she can get away with it against her skin tone. I'd love to know how she managed those heels on the grass!

Belindabauer · 23/05/2018 23:17

I thought the shoes were too high.
