Women's shorts recommendations - help!

I am desperately in need of some new summer clothing. I have sorted a couple of maxi skirts and dresses. But I really need some new shorts. I am not a fan or really short shorts as, sadly, my bum and thighs aren't as toned as others would like them to be if I was to wear those! But I am open to anything else!

I don't really mind material or colour, just looking for a good fit and drape.

I am a size 12 on the bottom.

Please help me stylistas!

I got a pair of dark denim ones from Next that are a longer length. Just above the knee with a turn up. They're really comfy and go with loads. But they come up hugh. I'm a 12, but had to have a 10 in these.

I have a very nice pair of navy shorts from - dare I say it - Joules. Above the knee but only just. Very comfortable.

I just bought these in the white, they are really good, excellent quality, not sure how long you want them though or if this is too short.

I think it depends on what size you order. I'd say they were true to size and not large like rhe reviews said, I'd say mine were not baggy but not tight either on the leg. Mine are closer fitting round the bum and tum than the model though so I think your shape has a lot to do with it.

I'm tall (5"9) and have trouble finding shorts long enough let alone these days, they're veeeeery short. I've just ordered some from ASOS tall section so I'm hoping they'll be OK.

These are my Boden chino shorts that came today. I love them! These are the shortest length but they come in 3 different lengths.

Yes AF well spotted, they are! I'm not sure about them to be honest, I don't know if they emphasise my cankles! I've never worn shorts before but I really am pleased with these.

Oooh me me me! I’ve got the answer! I’ll try and link to them. I found the best pair of shorts in Sainsbury’s. They’re denim but floaty, perfect length. I’ve never been one for shorts but these are a great introduction to them. I love them!

I have just bought 2 pairs from Next. Denim boy shorts, a great length and a Chino pair. Very flattering.

Like ella I have a couple of pairs of Boden shorts. I’m not a huge fan of Boden but some things they do well and I’d say women’s shorts are one of them. Various colours and leg lengths available.
