I think it's about knowing what suits you, in terms of hairstyle, make-up and clothes.

For example I have a friend who has a lovely complexion and she just blooms when wearing pastel colours and long tops with trousers, but for some reason she always wears darker colours and really unflattering mid-calf length skirts, with out-dated floral shirts.

I think also that well-cut and well-fitting clothes also make a difference.

Totally agree with Malory - it's decent, flattering clothes (whatever your shape) and great shoes BUT the accessories make all the difference. Great necklaces and bracelets make a huge impact - I get comments on mine a lot too. THere are a few mums who have fabbo jewellery.

My SIL and a mate/neighbour of mine are def 'faberage'. They are both artistic too so I would say their look is quirky but works really well. The way they dress matches their personalities iyswim.

SIL doesn't wear make up and buys virtually everything from charity shops, markets, jumble sales. But has loads of accesories - bags, shoes, jewellery. She also has dreads with a few lovely tiny shells and bells in her hair.

Neighbour sometimes makes her own clothes . She dresses quite simply but has quite bold accessories - big sunglasses, chunky unsual jewellry, subtle make up. I think she gets a lot of stuff in markets, one off shops etc as well.

And neither of them have much money at all.
