Office Hallie sandals - fabulous or frumpy?

dontstopthepeach · 18/04/2018 15:47

I'm sure there's been a thread on these already, but I can't find it. What's the MN verdict - yay or yuck? www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,305/1858530452

And what about the Sorbet sandals www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,60/2968191746

I am for ever on the hunt for the right sandals. Need support, no mules, no heels, as little chance of rubbing as possible for medical reasons. Narrow-ish feet. I had a lovely pair of Yokonos but the soles split very quickly :(

Just had another look, if the backs were just a strap around rather than filled in and the heel wasn't as wedged then I'd prefer them 😂.

Not that I'm fussy like ....

Classicdipselection · 19/04/2018 08:37

Ooh I like them both and all the different colours. I'm due DC2 in two weeks and dgaf about anything but comfort. The shoes (somewhere between a sandal and a trainer) I've been wearing every day for the last two months are a crime against fashion but the only thing i can get on my swollen feet without bending down so the Hallie's will make me feel like a catwalk model in comparison.

Classicdipselection · 19/04/2018 08:38

Hallies not Hallie's

bakewelltarte · 19/04/2018 08:45

I bought Hallies last year - they are not frumpy! I'm going to get another colour for this summer - I'm not keen on the sorbet ones, real Birkenstock are better I think x

user1483351382 · 19/04/2018 08:49

Just stumbled upon this discussion - very helpful as I can't wear heels either and always struggle in summer! Someone mentioned another thread with a larger discussion on sandals? Can someone give me a link? Thanks

Madbengalmum · 19/04/2018 09:48

Enid, totally agree, I think the sorbet and Saltwater sandals are about as frumpy as it gets. Each to his own eh!

VileyRose · 19/04/2018 09:53

I don't like sorbet ones but love hallies.

dontstopthepeach · 19/04/2018 10:33

Thanks all, good comments!

Saltwaters not an option, far too flat. Birkenstocks also (probably) out - as much as I love them (and have had multiple pairs in the past), I have to have shoes with an ankle/heel strap to keep them on my feet, and I just don't like the ones with straps. Hence leaning towards the Sorbets.

What about the Moshulu Wasabis?

Pompom42 · 19/04/2018 10:35

Frumpy. Sorry but then I'm a Saltwater fan

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 19/04/2018 10:37

I like the Sorbets. I have Saltwaters though and they are like slippers to me - I was a bit nervous that they would be too flat but they weren't for me. I can see why they might be for others. I can't do slight wedges or heels as they dig in.

cad186 · 19/04/2018 10:42

I'm gutted to hear people think the hallies are frumpy they are my favourite sandals and so comfy! They do the same style in higher heels too, does that make them less frumpy?!

cad186 · 19/04/2018 10:46

Just realised my links don't work for some reason. The higher heels are called maiden and holiday wedge espadrilles in case anyone is interested!

Madbengalmum · 19/04/2018 10:54

Cad, some people think they are frumpy, but then some think saltwaters and sorbets are. There will always be people who don't like what you like and people that do. Office isn't exactly an old persons shop and hallies must be extremely popular for them to be produced in so many colours. I wouldn't give two f*cks about it if I wanted them.

cad186 · 19/04/2018 10:59

Madbengalmum - thanks! I won't let it put me off them don't worry, I've already got 2 pairs and I'm eyeing up another colour for this summer Grin

And I do think saltwaters are frumpy, each to their own! Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we were all the same!

shedragon · 19/04/2018 11:21

Neither.

EnidButton · 19/04/2018 14:49

Cad I still like them and I'm not frumpy. Mad makes a good point, they wouldn't have made them in so many colours if they weren't really popular. I'm still going to buy some and I'd usually be put off by people saying something is frumpy. On this occasion I think they're wrong. Grin

Classicdipselection · 19/04/2018 14:49

Sorry to divert from original question but with the Hallies, what colour do folk think for a 'wear with anything' look? Nude isn't great with my very very pale skin tone so maybe a bright colour?

I wear a lot of navy, black, grey and maroon.... Blush and at £50 each I'd like to only buy one pair!

dontstopthepeach · 19/04/2018 15:23

@Classicdipselection - that's the problem I'm having! I wish there was a pale grey option I think; camel is sometimes grey enough iyswim. Navy is safe but boring. Orange and yellow are a bad idea for my skin tone. Maybe nude?

OP posts:
Madbengalmum · 19/04/2018 15:35

Classic, I have gone for metallic, with the colours you mention you could go silver. I have got the rose gold ones which are rose gold and nude they go with everything too.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 19/04/2018 15:41

Hsllies are frumpy. It's the sensible small heel (go completely flat), and the straps that are neither strappy enough or chunky enough

This. They'd be better completely flat or just something...else. They're just a bit nothing-y.

The others are better.

BusterTheBulldog · 19/04/2018 15:50

I expected to open that link and hate them! I love them! The little heel makes them for me, I can’t go completely flat (plantar facisits) so these might be my saviour! Also love the maidens too.

(Blanking out from mind the times when I thought birkenstocks, hush puppy and dr scholl would be saviour and have all in multiple colours and ALL of them have ripped feet to shreds)

CowesTwo · 19/04/2018 15:51

I got these from M&S. Very comfy, got two pairs - the black and the white.

AnnaHindrer · 19/04/2018 15:57

They are BOTH frumpy.

Classicdipselection · 19/04/2018 16:40

Those saying go completely flat, wouldn't your feet, ankles and calves be agony by the end of the day in a totally flat shoe?

Classicdipselection · 19/04/2018 16:58

Also I've ordered the Hallies in rose gold. @dontstopthepeach you are a bad influence... Blush
