What are the official waist measurements for sizes 10 and 12? I've got a feeling I'm a size 11.

I've got short legs too, it is a pain cos not everywhere does short length trousers & I can't wear heels everywhere!

I'm sure I'm an 11 too. And I have short legs (maybe there's a correlation there).

Another short size 11 here too. Maybe we should start a shop selling trousers in our size since there seem to be lots of us.

I think a 10 is 30 inches around the waist and not much bigger on the hips.

mm not sure my waist has seen 30 inches for more than a decade (ahem). Think it's more like my hips aren't enormous and my waist's the same size as my hips that makes my size all wrong.

I always used to think size ten was 24 inches and size 12 26 inches.

But I think it's bigger then that now.

I think size zero is 23 inches around the waist.

A size 10 is 28 inches and a 12 30 inches. Definately, definately!!! I know this coz I am a 10-12 (so probably a size 11 along with you!!!!)

28" was a 14 when I was young

womens waist sizes are now more like boys waist sizes ie shapeless

so I have just dug out an old pattern that I used to make a school tennis dress in the 70's and the sizes in inches are as follows:

8 = 31.5/24/33.5

10 = 32.5/25/34.5

12 = 34/26.5/36

14 = 36/28/38

16 = 38/30/40

I was a 12 in those days BTW

soap, I am one of those shapeless sorts - 28 inch waist, not much more on the hips and a paltry AA cup booby - how I dream of being a shapely curvy sexy lady

Oh so I'm a 12 waist but I can tell you a 14 is much more comfortable, so I buy 16.

moi, otoh am a great British pear - small top, bigger hips and a waist! every thing I buy to fit my hips or thighs it too big around the waist.

Yep, I must admit I don't have any probs finding clothes to fit. Don't really understand it though - most women are more pear shaped, aren't they? Surely the high street (in particular) should be more pear friendly???

I cannot believe that a 10 is 28 inches, I have a 27 inch waist and a 10 swings round and round, Can't buy an 8, have hips dahhhling!!

I'm not sure on my waist size but I wear an 8, the size 10's I have a too big. I don't have much hips though and no real waist definition which I hate. I do have a bust though, E cup now as breasfteeding
