LardLizard · 09/04/2018 08:18

@lardlizard I'm not sure what sort of items you might mean? Are you talking clothing or home decorating or what?

DanceDisaster · 09/04/2018 08:43

Well since this is S&B, I expect she means clothes.

LardLizard · 09/04/2018 08:46

Sorry I meant clothes

But decorating could be interesting too !!

I’ve seen some items trawling John Lewis’ website, but I agree it would be good to have a thread for this

stringbean · 09/04/2018 09:57

I'd be interested in tops for work in natural fabrics. I need them to go with tailored trousers and a jersey jacket, which is my staple. I end up with a stripy short sleeved Breton t-shirt (Boden) in the absence of anything else suitable. Have posted here before about this as it's a perennial problem. Years ago, I had some cotton/silk ribbed t-shirt tops from M& S but they don't do them any more.

Uniqlo has a large selection of nice linen items at the moment, including shirts in many colours, which would be great for work. Can't tell you how they wear, as I've only just bought mine. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-premium-linen-long-sleeve-shirt-404556.html?dwvar_404556_color=COL71&dwvar_404556_size=SMB001&cgid=IDshirts16181 Seasalt does a lot of cotton - this t-shirt would be nice for work if you can go for a bit casual and is 96% cotton www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/clothing/tops/carrick-long-sleeve-cotton-tshirt_lake.htm.

Great idea for a thread, I know exactly what you mean. I used to occasionally find nice things in silk in random shops like Forever 21 or Marks and Spencer but that seems increasingly rare. So nothing to contribute now but I'll follow with interest.

French Connection have a few nice linen shirts and trousers in at the moment...

I read an article on the Telegraph site yesterday that linen is making a comeback fashion wise. About time!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/04/2018 12:44

I'm planning on trying this dress on.

Also this hoodie

This dress

This jumper

drspouse · 09/04/2018 12:55

I've just bought up most of White Stuff from JL, returned about 3/4 of them but I have found some nice natural fibres among them.

Also very much liking Sugarhill Boutique, though disappointingly some not very nice acrylic mixes in the thin jumpers I got recently.

I usually want slightly drapey but not so shapeless I appear even larger.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 09/04/2018 13:12

Everything I've looked at here seem to be natural fibres with some natural/synthetic blends: www.purecollection.com/ I thought they were all about cashmere but there are a lot of linen, silk and cotton bits too.

I was thinking of buying this but there was a lot of faffing re price (was reduced to £40, then when I put it in the basket it was £68, I did a chat and they said I'd need to ring to order etc) so I cba.

goose1964 · 09/04/2018 13:24

New Look have some pure cotton t-shirts amongst their rough polyester

GrainneWail · 09/04/2018 14:34

Some gorgeous silk shirts in & other stories today. I find benetton good. Their chinos are up to 98% cotton and a good fit.

flamingnoravera · 09/04/2018 17:54

Sorry op I did not intend to come across as obtuse or clever, I was just not sure what you are looking for.

I also love silk, linen and stylish stuff. But I'm on a small budget so I use eBay and I search by the shops or designers that I know make great stuff. So I look at Toast, Avoca, Hampton, jigsaw, odd molly etc and then I use a snipe to put my bid in on the last 10 seconds. I have some fab stuff this way. Often last season but usually timeless classics.

Not all of it is great but most is fab. And it's small potatoes in price so the odd mistake is not too much to bear.

flamingnoravera · 09/04/2018 18:22

So for example (I know it's not a shirt or dress but I love it) this coat, it's fab. But it's spring do I need another lovely coat?

I found a little gem in Primark Grin . I touch things , think "Oh they look nice" but usually recoil from the fabric .
My top is linen blend (linen/viscose) either black or beige , V neck sleeveless and £8 .
Barrrrrgin!

MrsPear · 09/04/2018 19:18

I bought this the other week next blue shirt. Needs an iron post washing but goes naice with my black jeans.

MrsPear · 09/04/2018 19:21

If anyone knows of plain straight leg cotton lounge / pj trousers - I have a 31 inside leg - I’ll be grateful!

HexeSauerkraut · 09/04/2018 19:25

The Bora sale is really good, they have lots of silk, cotton and cashmere. Also LK Bennett have some silk things and I think they have sale at the moment too.

chloechloe · 09/04/2018 19:29

Other Stories has lovely silk shirts. If you're quick you can usually snatch some up in their online sale too.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2018 20:38

I have this in both blue and pink, it's lovely. www.purecollection.com/clothing/silks/silk_satin_blouse_pastel_blue.htm
