Just stuff for wearing every day on the school run, dog walking, going to lunch, supermarket etc that isn’t frumpy but isn’t OTT try hard either.

I am 31, size 10, 5’2”. Don’t worry about budget, I just want to get an idea of a look I can pull off at this stage.

Have you tried the French threads in here- lots of pics and not all the stereotypical French look. Can’t remember what the first one was called but the third is “les parisiennes de mumsnet” or something like that and was on the first page of style and beauty today (stupid phone won’t let me link!).

Just giving a bump

Peopleplease · 04/04/2018 22:04

Pinterest is good for this. Search sometimes like ‘Mom style’ and you’ll get lots of inspiration.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/04/2018 00:16

This is the look I like for dog walking, I think it’s a practical but stylish look.

Lunch with friends would be something like this

I'm loving the lunch with friends, what would you wear if heels were not an option? Brogues perhaps?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/04/2018 00:23

Going to the supermarket, I like a heel but realise it’s not everyone’s go to for the weekly shop!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/04/2018 00:25

Yes I think brogues would look good

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 00:30

What about a look for hot weather that's not too revealing, a modest hot weather look!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 05/04/2018 00:41

Stylish hot weather dressing is a bit of a challenge but for lunch out I would wear something like this, loose fitting but still with shape

I always look on Pinterest for ideas. I have no imagination when it comes to putting an outfit together so I find Pinterest works really well for me.

Thanks for these! I love those boots for dog walking!

I can’t do heels and am also a bit more insulated than those women Grin but those green trousers look really nice. Are mid calf cut trousers in right now? As a shorty they aren’t the most flattering.

BusterGonad · 05/04/2018 10:25

Op I'm loving the green turn ups too.

specialsubject · 05/04/2018 11:35

Those giant handbags are the definition of ' accessories that wear you'. Ankle strap staggerers not good either, even the emaciated models look as if they have fetlocks like a shire horse.

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 05/04/2018 16:06

I have 3 simple "put together" looks:

Turned up charcoal/black jeans with brogues and a flowing shirt tucked into the waistband of the jeans, hair worn loose with family earrings

Plain leather or cord skirt with slim fitted Breton top tucked in, and heeled calf boots or knee high flats. Accessorised with long necklace/large pendant.

Jeans and tight cami with oversized/loose shirt worn open. Doc Martens. Hair up in ponytail.

Also just shove a casual blazer over anything.

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 05/04/2018 16:07

Not family earrings - dangly earrings!

rightknockered · 05/04/2018 16:09

I just wear everything with trainers at the moment, makes anything look casual

Iamblossom · 05/04/2018 16:16

Even if I say so myself I think I do this quite well.

Today has involved supermarket, coffee in a cafe with mil, getting nails done and taking car to get cleaned. I am wearing mustard skinny jeans from everything£5.com, blue and white striped long sleeved tshirt from primark, long waterfall type navy blue cardigan from captain tortue, and leopard print ballet flats also from primark.

I am comfortable but feel good and get regular compliments about my jeans.

I wear blue skinny jeans with Blue and white trainers, silver converse, leopard print DMs. I like big chunky scarfs and have 6 in different colours I regularly wear. I have lots of star print tops, some long and baggy, some short and tighter that I wear with boot cut jeans and snake skin ankle boots.

I also have grey, black and navy blazers that looks great with long sleeved t-shirts and skinny jeans.

I wear dresses mainly for work.

Iamblossom · 05/04/2018 16:18

I have also just today found a green camouflage pattern Boo Hoo shirt, short and the front long at the back, and a next Blue and white patterned short jacket in charity shop, £9 for the two

Iamblossom · 05/04/2018 16:19

Can post pix

NearWildHeaven · 06/04/2018 09:42

@Iamblossom sounds fabulous! I'd love to see pics. In a total rut here
