I’m thinking it fuck it, this year I’m getting my wobbly thighs out!

I’m 38, size 10, pretty decent figure but I’ve got cellulite from my knees up and despite trying to tone up,my thighs are very wobbly.

I haven’t worn shorts since my early 20’s and my go-to in the summer are hareem type trousers, dresses and skirts.

I really just want to be able to chuck on some shorts and t shirts though. I’ve tried knee length ones and they just don’t suit me.

I’m thinking of just buying mid thigh shorts and trying not to give a shit anymore. I’m 38 for goodness sake, why do I even care about a bit of jiggle.

Does anyone else just not give a damn?

Absolutely don't care. I've had big thighs/butt my entire adult life. I'm not going to be uncomfortable for others peoples opinions. Do you!

thedevilinablackdress · 31/03/2018 16:58

I was probably about that age when I had a similar fuck it moment. I even wear them not on holiday. Near my actual house. Not very often mind since am in the frozen North.

retainertrainer · 31/03/2018 17:02

I’m doing it, I’m going to buy some. I’ve seen some soft denim ones in next.

I’ll break them in on holiday first. Whoop! I’m feeling confident now.

I'm 49 and I wear denim mid thigh shorts, I also don't like the long ones, I don't tend to go out in them, but in very hot weather I've popped to the local shop and I'm happy to wear them when friends over.

I'm about the same size as you, I don't suffer from cellulite bizzarely and my legs are toned, but I am a good decade older than you and it's probably unseemly for women approaching 50 to wear denim shorts, but I also don't give a shit.

Ps a bit of fake tan works wonders.

bonzo77 · 31/03/2018 17:15

If you are comfortable (in every sense of the word), do it. It sounds like I’m much the same shape as you. I get chub rub at the top of my thighs though, so shorts ride up and chafe more than the chub rub alone.

TSSDNCOP · 31/03/2018 17:17

They’ve got really nice length shorts in Uniqlo.

LockedOutOfMN · 31/03/2018 17:18

Wear them, OP! Shorts are essential for hot weather.

Highhorse1981 · 31/03/2018 17:26

Get some tinted moisturiser or premium fake tan on in advance

sportyfool · 31/03/2018 17:45

I feel the same , I have loose skin on my thighs and have big legs but I'm determined to wear shorts this year . At least on holiday .
I got some great ones from Primark and also some from next . I find the floaty material ones are more flattering than denim ones .

These

They’re lovely-I might start in something like that,a bit more like a shirt but shorter.

Fake tan and I’m thinking a bit of body brushing too.

I'm genuinely not trying to be rude but you have to be kidding me? You're a size 10 and you're worried about wobbles??

I'm a size 20 and would wear shorts without thinking. Be proud of your legs! Smile

Highhorse1981 · 31/03/2018 18:31

I’m the other end of the scale.
Utterly scrawny legs, not on oz of fat on them. I feel people are looking at them and thinking “emaciated!”

But I always find that my confidence rockets when they are tanned, whether that be st tropez or natural.

retainertrainer · 31/03/2018 18:38

Sour-yeh you’d be amazed at the hang ups even slim people have about their bodies. I know it probably seems ridiculous to someone who’s trying to loose weight.

AmethystRaven · 31/03/2018 18:41

Do it, I bet your legs are in great shape really. I am wondering though why shorts are at the forefront of your mind on a day like today?!

Gah81 · 31/03/2018 18:44

I am the same, OP. Size 8/10 and always have been but genuinely bad cellulite for years and years (genetics - you should see my mother's).

I still show my thighs in shorts - fuckit, life is too short.

MySockIsWetAgain · 31/03/2018 18:52

Go for it.

Despite of what us women were taught, our bodies are not decorations for the general public to enjoy or judge. So wear whatever you feel like.

retainertrainer · 31/03/2018 18:58

Amethyst-I’m going on hols next month.

onemorecakeplease · 31/03/2018 19:02

I decided last time we went on holiday to not give a flying fart.

So I wore short shorts, went braless, wore short dresses and bikinis.

And I didn’t care because dh thought I looks gorgeous and nobody else mattered

I intend to do the same in July - i saw women who were easily twice my size last time rocking bikinis and shorts and they didn’t care either.

sourpatchkid · 31/03/2018 21:19

I know but I guess what I'm saying is .. try to love your body more? It's sounds lovely

Ididnthearanything · 31/03/2018 23:32

I’m fairly slim with wobbly legs. Absolutely wear the shorts! Try to remember those legs serve you very well, they function perfectly, and probably look better than you think. I’m v self conscious about my legs but fuck it, they’re great. Life’s too short. And fake tan def helps!!

Well I'm longing for the days where we can wear shorts, not because I look good in them but because I want some sun!

Oblomov18 · 01/04/2018 09:44

I've always had huge thighs. Even at my lowest weight. I don't care. I've always worn shorts, although always longer ones, not the tiny bottom skimming ones.

Thegirlisnotright · 01/04/2018 19:48

Next boy shorts (denim) are good- bit wider at the bottom which is more flattering. Long knee length shorts look worse IMO
