I mean do they even exist anymore?

I have long hair, but being mum, nurse, etc etc my hair is constantly stool to the back of my head in a bun.

Want volume. Love that mad curls look, abit like this?

Anyone had one recently?

same here sandgrown, had perms in the 80s when they were fashionable, but its there till it grows out, and you end up with the straight roots, permed ends things for ages. I have both normal and bendy heated rollers, even go to bed occasionally with rag rollers.

ohh · 15/03/2018 12:07

Rag rollers! My darling passed mum used these in my hair! Still trawling for best heated rollers , my hairdresser said I need 1 inch if that makes any difference. Currently sitting in Velcro rollers that are cooling after blasting with hairdryer. Not the best as they hurt coming out.

Love Ditas hair

ohh, I have remingtons.

My hair is like the photo at the top, slightly less volume.
Do remember though that you have to sit for ages and comb it through, otherwise like mine it turns to dreads, then you can only cut the knots out.
I comb mine through after washing, add my products and dry with diffuser, or naturally.
I don't touch it again until the next wash, but it can take up to 30 mins to comb out initially after a shower.
Don't mean to piss on anyones chips, but you do need to factor in time to manage it.
Oil is important to keep it looking in good condition.

I’ve got thick, wavyish hair but not naturally curly. I can get nice waveyness / curls like this by:

Washing it only once or twice a week
Leaving a little bit of conditioner in (not near roots, just the ends)
Scrunching a small amount of curl serum through – but I don’t always bother - i didnt today
Letting it dry in a messy bun / ‘pineapple’ on my head.

I take it down and…voila!

It’s better - more curly, on the second day eve but I wear it up in a messy topknot / bun / pineapple thing most of the time so that’s probably why. Will then stay curly until I wash it.

Photos are just now and I washed it this morning.

oh also - I never brush it.

I will brush through the conditioner in the shower, and tease out the worst of the tangles with my fingers whilst it is wet.

ohh · 15/03/2018 16:04

I only comb my hair when wet as well! I also use oil and curl serum on ends. My velcro mixed sizes that i took out today looks mega curly at the front and sides and just kinky at the back, never seems to make a difference there! I wonder if you can get a back of head perm only.....Smile

sportyfool · 15/03/2018 18:22

You can perm only some of the hair , they cover the rest in conditioner to stop it getting perm solution on it .

A brief derail, can anybody tell me how I can get the volume on the top of the head, like the picture.
Mine is very long, curly and does stick out like that but I don't know how to style the front bit.

ohh · 16/03/2018 08:45

To get volume at the top I tip my head upside down and concentrate my hairdryer on the roots at the crown.

Rest if the hair i leave to dry naturally or diffuse (but then I can look a bit poodly!)

gillybeanz · 16/03/2018 11:02

Thanks ohh, I'll give that a go, it's a bit triangular atm, sort of flat on top but like the above picture everywhere else Grin
I look a bit like side show bob atm, should get a cut.
