If you went for a ring that wasn’t just a plain band, why and please show me! We’ve had a few engagement ring threads but I don’t think a wedding ring one.

I really wanted a diamond set one (probably a half-eternity set with little emerald cut stones), but the jeweller talked me out of it (and himself out of a much bigger commision!), because he thought a narrow, plain band would look much nicer next to my engagement ring. And he was right.

I have a very unusual engagement/ wedding ring set so I won’t show a picture but the wedding band is gold with 15 tiny sapphires placed in a slightly undulating pattern all the way round. It’s because we married in 2015. My husband has the same but with his stones on the inside! I love trying his on sometimes as it’s quite soothing. Like a sort of ‘massage ring’! (That sounds very dodgy Confused)

Will you be getting an eternity ring? My wedding band is plain but I have a diamond eternity ring. Diamond wedding ring & eternity might be too much together.

My original wedding ring was diagonal stripes of white and yellow gold. This was because I'd set my heart on a particular type of stone for an engagement ring which we could only find in yellow gold (we were young and poor and it never occurred to us to get one made), but all my other jewellery was silver and I wanted something that kind of brought the two together.

Nowadays I wear two other rings that DH bought me about 5 years ago - they are more my style these days and my knuckles have got increasingly big and knobbly so it was getting hard to get the original rings on and off. They are both silver with leaf patterns on them - the "wedding" one just has a row of leaves going just over halfway round the band (so from the front it looks continuous) and the other one has a small round moonstone set in the middle of the band of leaves. I've tried many times to take a good photo of them and never succeeded because the details are very tiny, but I love them and they go perfectly with the other silver items I've collected ever since my teens.

I got a platinum carved band set with a little black diamond. www.rustwedding.bigcartel.com/product/platinum-2mm-floral-carved-ring

PaperdollCartoon · 20/02/2018 15:33

@0utForAWalkBitch I LOVE that! It’s gorgeous.

@Chocolate1984 - no idea. If so it wouldn’t be any time soon. Isn’t an eternity ring for 25/30 years + anniversaries?

That's a beautiful combination!

jbee1979 · 20/02/2018 20:39

@PEARSON93 I love that.

I have a platinum band with princess cut diamonds (which is the same as the diamond on my engagement ring). I do usually wear them together but I have fat pregnant hands and my wedding band is a size bigger than engagement (because I swell in the heat - the glamour) and I wanted to always keep my band on.

I have a thin gold wedding band, a solitaire diamond engagement ring & a thin full diamond band eternity ring, which Dh finally got to buying for my birthday & Christmas present last year after nearly forty years of marriage😳
They look lovely together as they are quite narrow, my hands are very small & anything to wide, would look a bit daft.

This is mine: etsy.me/VsRhV5

FoofFighter · 20/02/2018 22:26

Very nice @n0ne but not sure that they shouldn't think about upgrading their hand model !

Jackiesdaughter · 20/02/2018 23:31

Ferriswheel I know exactly what you mean! I’m getting divorced too. I miss wearing my beautiful rings so much! My engagement ring is 7 diamonds in a rub over setting and very sparkly, looked lovely with my wedding ring. Feel so sad not wearing them.

doctorboo · 21/02/2018 11:15

These are my rings, both from h.sam10 years ago.
DH proposed at a time when we didn't have much spare money in the bank; I think the wedding band cost the same as the engagement ring tbh, both under £200?
I chose a wedding band with diamonds in it because I wanted more sparkles Blush

doctorboo · 21/02/2018 11:16

Pic helps

DH had my engagement ring made specially, so we asked the same jeweller to shape an engagement ring to fit, with a few extra diamonds. I wear them the wrong way round as it's more comfortable

Wedding rings with stones in them look a bit ott. A plain band is much classier.

Pearson, I get the link above when I try to copy and paste from your post...

LtheWife · 21/02/2018 11:50

I wanted something a bit different. If I wear them together, my engagement ring (solitaire) nestles nicely between two leaves, but I often wear my engagement ring on my right hand.

Mine's plain, but curved to fit around the engagement ring. I ideally wanted a band of tiny diamonds but it just felt a bit much together, so I later got that as an eternity ring which I wear on my other hand.

Mine is like this but in gold and slightly different pattern for the wedding ring diamonds and an opal in the centre of the engagement ring. I won’t post my own picture because my husband designed both himself and I have very rough looking hands after 6 months of hyperemesis.

Thanks for making this thread I find then fascinating. I also didn’t expect to have a not round wedding ring at all but I love mine so much.

Cute kitten!

Diamonddealeroncemore · 21/02/2018 16:36

As I don’t have an engagement ring I decided to have some bling in my wedding ring. It’s yellow gold with very small diamonds in a scattered design round it. I worked at a very upmarket jewellers when I got married so I spent hours of my working day Just trying on wedding bands I honestly tried on every one in the shop before I made my decision. And then my boss did it at cost, bless him!
