But I think @fruitbowl2 is right, I can work it out myself. Just interested in different perspectives before pressing the button. Apologies if the above comes across as irksomely worthy/fishing for information. I’ll leave it here.

It's not irksome at all and you've as much right to use Mumsnet as anyone else.

PavlovaPrincess · 22/03/2018 07:38

@MadameGrizzly Grin

Also maybe a photo of a fridge full of salad and vegetables with the caption 'WHY IS THERE NOTHING TO EAT?!!'

Slitherout · 22/03/2018 07:41

@MadameGrizzly thanks - I've got the lawn, would have the dishwasher if we had one, and I can substitute the juicer for the overfilled cheap blender being turned on without the thing in the top being in to stop fruit fountaining out of the top Grin

MadameGrizzly · 22/03/2018 07:42

Yes! And that mysterious scratch along the back right hand corner of the family car.

So. Much. Content.

FacebookAteMyBrain · 22/03/2018 07:42

Having and inviting other people help you work things out is a sign of strength, not weakness. This whole thread has helped me work a lot of things out (which is why my Instagram app has been deleted again!)

Slitherout · 22/03/2018 07:43

Pavlova or a pic of the weekly shop having JUST BEEN DONE with the caption 'i can't see anything for dinner'

Slitherout · 22/03/2018 07:44

Lol, I'm more tempted to start a teen based Instagram now Grin

Pleasesendwine · 22/03/2018 07:46

What I’ve noticed from reading all three threads on this subject, watching bloggers join and start off being aggressive and defensive towards our request for transparency is that now they HAVE to provide the reader with knowledge of paid/gift etc is the number of likes on (won’t mention names) some accounts which have stated paid for by are much lower then other posts that include quotes of pics of coffee cups/household pets etc.
Perhaps from this they should realise that people now they have transparency can’t quite believe the amount of stuff they are now getting/the ridiculously diverse and unrelated products they are given . It has unearthed just how many bloggers are simply taking as much business on-board as humanly possible regardless of claiming to do this for the love-of -the-job.
Well I think most people would LOVE a job that hands out endless freebies.
Transparency has most definitely revealed, to me, just how greedy some of these people are.

MadameGrizzly · 22/03/2018 07:51

In all seriousness, I hope all the parent 'influencers' are able to service their mortgage and/or renovations without Instagram income, as teenagers have NO selling value, if they will even let you take a photo in the first place. Facebook is dead, Instagram's star is waning and poor old Vero didn't even make it off the starter blocks.

ElspethFlashman · 22/03/2018 07:52

Fuck it, I dont think its a problem. Im very happy to give constructive advice to anyone who comes on here. Id rather it be seen as a positive place. After all, we've been discussing this shit for a long time, so are damn useful. And are the first to say when people have got it wrong! Id rather they felt they could ask!

Definately Workitout. Never give any part of a campaign a name you cant imagine yourself saying in front of the Prime Minister. Best of luck with it!

FacebookAteMyBrain · 22/03/2018 07:52

Some people are definitely making hay while the sun shines. As much as I like DMBL40 (and still follow her), the Avon purple pleather jacket was a stretch of the imagination to think it would ever be something she would buy herself.

ElspethFlashman · 22/03/2018 08:00

The only person who talks/shows their older kids is Caroline Hirons. But only occasionally as her account isnt about kids. Though she shames her daughter Ava a lot, im a bit u comfortable how much I know about Avas secret fake lD, Avas secret belly button piercing.....

If I was Ava I'd be more secretive than ever, tbh.

Pleasesendwine · 22/03/2018 08:04

My sentiments exactly facebookatemybrain. Jumping from one paid promotion to the next. It really has been quite an overload recently..... no consistency with brands. I just feel there it is all far too disingenuous

PavlovaPrincess · 22/03/2018 08:26

The fashion bloggers who are mums really intrigue me when they post a 'school run' outfit that, in my experience, is anything but and is completely impractical for waiting in the cold at the schoolgates.

I often wonder if they actually wear it outside or change into jeans and uggs before they venture out.

This isn't a diss, btw but it just occurred to me this morning while I was rifling through my wardrobe. I can't wait to wear something that isn't a padded, duvet-style coat and 78 layers, but I looked outside and just thought, 'nah!' If they really wear a maxi dress and biker jacket to pick up their kids, I salute their commitment.

Fruitbowl2 · 22/03/2018 08:28

Apologies motherpukka and all. That was rude of me.

ElspethFlashman · 22/03/2018 08:30

Yeah theyre all bloody freezing these days. Its hilarious.

nipersvest · 22/03/2018 09:39

that Guardian article is very interesting, and quite right regarding the use of children.

Also, I follow bloggers unveiled on insta, they have a bit of a campaign going about insta-stories whilst driving, which quite a few people I follow do. Some dismiss it by saying they're stopped in traffic, but the laws still apply if you're engine is running.

FOD's in car filming has always made me a bit uncomfortable. It may be done hands free but a car full of kids whilst playing to the camera with a semi scripted 'oh, isn't our life funny' scenario has got to be very distracting (and therefore illegal) while you're driving. Not the kind of thing a CBeebies presenter should be doing Wink

nipersvest · 22/03/2018 09:44

*your

damn autocorrect

PavlovaPrincess · 22/03/2018 09:47

I think the FOD's car filming is part of his contract with Renault (?). They've given them a car for a year in return for being filmed using it (i think). Not sure if they are filmed all the time while they're in it and then the 'best bits' are shown (which would be quite sinister really) or if they set up specific moments.

Not that you'd know this is an ad, btw or even 'gifted' as it's not marked down as such (although I'm happy to be corrected if that's not the case).

nipersvest · 22/03/2018 09:49

also, what was the House of Fraser event for last night?, there seemed to be a gazillon instagrammers there, preening/feeding/instatorying themselves, but I am at a loss to know what the event was actually meant to be promoting other than a bit of a self congratulatory smarm fest.

mytether · 22/03/2018 11:43

The instagram dinners are the worst. Really, what is the point? Pinterest is absolutely my place now. I am only interested in clothes not the campaigns (sorry - my job is quite campaigny though) or ‘funny’ lifestyle blogs. Had never heard of MOD or motherpukka before this. I know much of the content on Pinterest comes from ‘influencers’ but still. I can look for specific ideas on how to wear things i’ve already got, without feeling crap about the stuff I haven’t.

KatFarmer · 22/03/2018 11:57

PavlovaPrincess on the school run, I don’t have to actually get out of the car anymore, so no hanging around in the cold for me 👊 (you’ll miss it, they said.. not being able to chat on the playground... errr nope.🤣) However when I am hanging around in the cold, normally something sport related (them), I’m wearing hat, gloves, scarves, boots and big coat. There is no maxi dress/biker, that’s for sure!

facebookatemybrain (shit autocorrect does not like that!) I have a number of faux leather bikers I wear.. I do love a biker and this is a really good one at a really good price point. I’ve always said I’m not bothered about where something comes from, it’s whether I’d wear it. And this is really good jacket for the money.

Pleasesendwine I’m not sure if you’re referencing me (just going on you agreeing with the above comment and assuming..) but I’m sorry if you feel I’m doing too much partnership work. It’s actually marginally more than 10% of my content which I personally wouldn’t say is that much. With regards to the different products (bar Avon who I didn’t know did clothes before they approached me!) i have used the products for years so feel it’s not really a stretch of anyone’s imagination that I would work with those brands (but clearly it is to you, so my apologies!)

WTR to children, I do feature mine but they’re old enough to agree or say sod off, which they sometimes do. It’s their decision as to whether the photo goes up, they get final say.

Pleasesendwine · 22/03/2018 12:07

Kat,no I wasn’t referring to you, but I agreed with her comments. I prefer not to be so personal on these threads.

PavlovaPrincess · 22/03/2018 12:09

Oh, ok @KatFarmer I did wonder if that was the case. As I said, it was a genuine query but I haven't been out in coat that I can't button up over at least 5 layers for about 6 months so I wondered how you were all managing in the cold (and I'm mightily fed up of it, to be honest, but I'm at an age where warmth and comfort take precedence over fashion 😢).

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 22/03/2018 13:12

I’ve no idea what last nights dinner (with all the same people AGAIN) was for either? Any ideas?
