Is the joules coast jacket frumpy

I need a light waterproof summer jacket for holidays. I’ll then use as a summer jacket. Is this a fully frumpy choice?

im 40 and a mum, bite me

^^^^ this x a million

Chrisinthemorning · 10/02/2018 12:11

I have the berry pink one and I like it but I am 40 and not fashionable so it probably is frumpy.

Whwhywhy · 11/02/2018 08:52

I bought the orangey red and pinky red to try. 20% off and 5% cash back with codes and top cash back.

I've got the red one. Had lots of complements - from other mums. It's def more practical than stylish but with two kids 3 & under I need practical. I haven't had any issues with the waterproofing. I'm 35.

Aworldofmyown · 11/02/2018 09:39

Just had a look and I think its really nice, your not going to be wearing it on nights out!!

DoneAdulting · 11/02/2018 09:57

I've got it in yellow for the school run and dog walks, and I love it. I wear it with either my flowery joules wellies or my Chelsea boots. I'm 29!

NeverTooOldForAnything · 11/02/2018 12:54

I like it! I am considering getting one too now Smile

TheHoundsofLove · 11/02/2018 13:42

I've got the bright red version and love it - I'm 37. As waterproof jackets go, I don't think it's frumpy at all!

Bettybettybettybetty · 11/02/2018 13:45

I have the mustard one - I’m 30. I love it. My best friend says I look like I’m on the school run I don’t care

Floisme · 11/02/2018 14:17

I think sometimes the weather is just shit, and wearing something that will give you some protection from it is actually the most stylish thing to do.

That said, I still have two objections to that coat:
The colour. I really dislike jaunty looking rainwear although that's just a personal preference.
More troublingly I think that fattest-part-of-the-thigh length is unflattering on many if not most of us. More to the point, how is it either practical or a good look to have rain dripping off the hem of your coat and down your leg?

OakIsBetterTho · 11/02/2018 14:25

My sister has the coast in red and looks truly lovely in it and often receives compliments. She is 26 and tiny mind you, a size 6-8 but curvy. I think maybe size and stature does make a difference tho as my friend has the same jacket in yellow, but looks incredibly mumsy and frumpy in it, she's a size 14-16.

Would you mind sharing the 20% off code pls WhyWhyWhy?!

ShakespearesSisters · 11/02/2018 21:28

I bought this jacket last year in the grey flower print. Love it, I haven't got wet through it yet, it washes well and I have loads of people saying how lovely it is. It's perfect for the unpredictable school run and walk to work.

Thanks!

redmarkone · 12/02/2018 20:19

i dont think they are, at least i hope not because i own two.
are chelsea boots frumpy as then? joules seem to be all over chelsea boots too!!

NickMyLipple · 12/02/2018 20:21

Have you checked out seasalt? I love their jackets!

wellalrighty · 15/04/2018 12:06

They now have a mid length version of this coat and I was wondering if anyone has tried it? I tried on the shorter length in store and it was OK on me (but wanted to order online with a discount code), but I'm now thinking the longer would be more practical - but is it more 'frumpy'?

RingtheBells · 15/04/2018 13:35

APRIL25 give 25% off Joules for the rest of today, it was in our local store also but I would buy one from Seasalt instead as they are better

Tara336 · 15/04/2018 13:37

Joules is overpriced and terrible quality tbh. That jacket is awful, sorry

MeanTangerine · 15/04/2018 13:43

I'm not a fan of yellow waterproofs. I'm not sure there's any such thing as a truly elegant, cutting-edge chic waterproof though. Some situations just require non-chic clothing.

I wouldn't wear a waterproof as my main jacket day-to-day though (possibly my not compulsorily-outdoor-lifestyle privilege is showing though).

Floisme · 15/04/2018 13:44

Is this the longer length one you mean? www.joules.com/Women/Jackets-Coats/Coastline/Longer-Length-Waterproof-Jacket/Laurel-Blossom?id=Y_COASTLINEPRT|LAURBLS

I don't like that pattern but I think the length looks way better than the mid thigh ones

PNGirl · 15/04/2018 13:55

I have it in yellow with a spot lining rather than navy stripe. I've just got back from a freezing cold city break and it was fantastic. I wore it with a black scarf, black skinnies and black Vans.

PNGirl · 15/04/2018 13:56

I'm a 12 but bought a 14 for a swingier fit.

Sorry, should've posted a link in my previous post.

I've got a £50 gift voucher for joules so need to buy something from there, and I can't see anything I like, but a waterproof coat would come in handy! I'm a size ten.
