Do smocks just not suit them or are these ones just too long?

They are incredibly skinny....

I need solutions that I can fix tonight they were supposed to be wearing these for their party tomorrow....Tescos did have some shorter smocks, will these help or are they just not built for smocks?

Off to have tea but will be back soon for comments

add something around the waist

lulumama · 27/04/2007 21:24

shorter smocks

rara skirts not denim ones

or belt round smock!

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 21:24

of what the long smocks....like what? Does it have to be a wide belt or will some sort of string belt do?

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 21:24

P.S there are some other combos on there....are any of them any good?

DeviousDaffodil · 27/04/2007 21:25

Shorter smocks would be better.
can you take them in? Make them a bit narrower?
I can't sew so am not much use sorry.

DeviousDaffodil · 27/04/2007 21:26

I think bottom pic is best combo.

Polgara2 · 27/04/2007 21:27

Bottom picture is ok.
Smocks are just too long - can they fit in the next size down?
Denim skirt - again too long/baggy - dds like the denim skirts with the large box pleats with their leggings (pain to iron tho )

southeastastra · 27/04/2007 21:28

a loose scarf or belt around the hips in a darker colour and they'd look great on any of the looks you've linked. add lots of accessories

pointydog · 27/04/2007 21:36

A solution for tonight?

mmm

The skirts and tops just look too large. You should be able to get smocks that look good on them. Or those tunic things made of some very cheap, hideous but fairly clingy material gives a neat look.

pointydog · 27/04/2007 21:37

shorter smocks would def be better. Bottom pic best

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 21:48

hips - what hips they have no hips which worrys me about teh belt solution.

Am off to Tesco to see if I acn get teh shorter smocks. They were about 3" shorter I think...or else I think it will be totally different outfit which DTDs are not going to be impressed about.

the bottom picture is the best, smocks are too long and do need belts.

DrNortherner · 27/04/2007 22:04

Agree bottom pic is best. And smocks need belts.

nappyaddict · 27/04/2007 22:09

pull the leggings right down to their ankles - that's how they are supposed to be worn anyway. then the skirts won't look too long.

Aefondkiss · 27/04/2007 22:55

SMS did you find a solution?

maybe if the leggings hadn't been so short too?

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 23:26

Right - have got a much shorter smock style top....probably about 3" shorter so will probably come to about their crotch. Had a look at the belts but there weren't really any suitable - they were all sequiny or combat style. I don't think they have anywhere to 'hang' really anyway.

The leggings do look a bit short and I was worried about that. The problem is that if I was to buy clothes which fit their tiny waist they would be 2 sizes smaller than if I was to buy to fit lengthwise - so everything looks too short and baggy on them. I did pull the leggings down but they just ride back up within 5 mins.

My other back-up is jeans. Didn't really want to go for jeans as they are also too short really for the above reasons...

Oooh well, if you see 2 dodgily dressed children wandering around twinlakes tomorrow - you know its me

Polgara2 · 27/04/2007 23:30

Don't think you need to worry about the leggings - they don't look too short - lots of girls wear them like that. Shorter smocks and you should be away .

Aefondkiss · 27/04/2007 23:32

I think dressing two skinny girls, the way they want to dress must be hard work, I bet they will look great.

Leggings are a nightmare, but I think with the tops being shorter the outfit might look more in proportion?

if they are happy with what they are wearing then just go with it, my dd (okay she is only 5) couldn't care less, as long as she thinks she is beautiful

pickledpear · 27/04/2007 23:40

sms - only me again i think we have the same two daughters ...lol minw are like skin on bones and need 4-5 in waist although they are 7 and 9 so this makes skirts up to their bums they love them with leggings and if they happy i am too no matter what they look like it saves ruining my day rowing

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 23:42

They really want to wear the rara skirts but they look wrong.... having said that they have come up longer than I expected so they will be able to wear them w/o leggings in summer.

And yes it is a nightmare to dress them - they are so out of proportion. I actually love summer when they can wear dresses and cropped trousers which are easier to fit as you don't notice if they are 2" shorter than they are supposed to be .

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 23:44

MIne are 6 next week. They have a pair of turn-up type crops in there wardrobe which are aged 3-4 . Fit loverly round the waist, but now they really are too short.

They have always been skinny there combined weight was only 4lb1oz!!!

Aefondkiss · 27/04/2007 23:44

the third pic skirts?

I think they look quite nice and in proportion, let them wear what they want, go on.

nappyaddict · 27/04/2007 23:44

theres not a photo of the ra ra skirts are there?

SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 23:46

The rara skirts (is that what they are called? - they are layered) are the fuschia and white ones (2nd photo I think). The pic has not come out well.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSuperhero · 27/04/2007 23:47

Sorry the rara are the 3rd pic
