Is this dress terribly dated?

I’ve a gala dinner to go to with work. I’m insignificant in that I’ll just “be there” but don’t want to look like shit. Nor can I afford anything new. I bought two new (well second hand) eBay frocks which don’t fit or suit so I’m loathe to buy anything else online. I can go to to max tomorrow but that’s it. Time run out. I got this at Coast 12 years ago. Silk. Pleated bit at front and satiny silk straps and longer tie. Be honest. Will it look awful and if not, what shoes please? Thanks very much in advance - honestly. I need your help!

I liked pp suggestion of leopard print heels. Not sure it goes with everything but would add some pzazz to the black lace dress.

Old dress doesn't sit properly. New lace dress looks great.

What heels have you got?

I’m going with lace but only got mushroom suede heels or parent nude it would seem. Must have done charity clear out in some very weird mood

I thought the simple black lace one looked very, very nice on you. The simple, straight shape is off-set by the detail of the sleeves. It looks chic imo.

I think black sheer tights might look more formal and elegant than opaque ones.

Lace dress looks better. Try Sally Hasen's leg make up (airbrush legs) to easily make bare legs look good?
