seefeld · 06/01/2018 22:07

Late(ish) 30s

Whistles (dresses, skirts, leather jackets, coats and parkas, jumpers and sweatshirts, mostly in sale but sometimes full price)
Topshop (jeans, t shirts)
Warehouse (summer dresses)
& Other Stories (tops)
Zara (occasionally but often disappointed by the quality)
M&S (found a couple of lovely jumpers in there recently)
Odd things from Maje, Sandro and Maison Scotch

MrsWhirly · 06/01/2018 22:08
  1. Mainly Zara and New Look for work and casual. Ted Baker or Karen Millen for bags, coats and dressy dresses x

44,
Hallhuber, (my current fave- buy at house of fraser)
Mint velvet, (nice knitwear, scarves and dresses but avoid asymmetric stuff)
Hobbs (for shoes and trousers)
Whistles (sometimes when in sale)
Bravissimo
Phase Eight,(find the odd nice top or dress here)
Superdry, (not for hoodies but some nice jumpers, t-shirts if you avoid all the slogans)
Jigsaw, (good for jeans, jumpers, silk tops)
Next, (good basics for work and reasonable prices)
Ted baker, (some nice occasion dresses and smart tops)
Jack Wills, (we have an outlet store in town so good for blazers, knitwear etc. although their dresses are far too short and 'young' for me)
Reiss, (good dresses/jumpsuits and going out tops- mainly buy for special occasion or in the sale)

BusterGonad · 07/01/2018 00:38

It's interesting to see the same stores come up again and again. It seems to show that we don't use a wide range of stores these days though.

Early 40s; I shop at Zara, Uniqlo, Hush and Toast with occasional forays into Topshop (just for jeans) Me & Em and & Other Stories. I get completely baffled by ASOS. 3000 dresses! How the hell am I going to be able to choose from 3000 dresses?!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2018 09:22

51

For shoes M&S (I don't wear leather, they do some good non-leather and half sizes. And I like the fact I can pick them off the shelf, try them and buy , not wait for someone to fetch them from the stockroom)

Leggings/jeggings/work trousers - M&S
Jean- Next

Tops- Tu (Sainsburys) , Primark, Matalan (I have long arms and I can't wear anything cropped), Uniqlo
Sometimes H&M but only if the fabric feels nice

Coats- Uniqlo or QVC

Jewellry- QVC

Underwear - Primark bras ( quantity over quality, I have about 12) M&S for pants, socks not fussy, don't wear tights

I have a 15.6yo DD who loves Top Shop and Urban Outfitters......there is nothing at all in either that would suit me .

demirose87 · 07/01/2018 09:23

I'm 30 and shop at Primark, New Look, H and M and Dorothy Perkins. And a few bits from EBay.

expatmigrant · 07/01/2018 10:02

I'm 53
Zara
Reiss
Whistles
River Island
Mango
Warehouse
All Saints
Cos
French Connection
Gap/Next/Jbrand for jeans
Kurt Geiger/Dune for shoes/boots
I prefer going to the actual shops than shopping online. Can't be asked with all the faff of sending stuff back.

BuckysRoboticArm · 07/01/2018 10:11

32

New Look
Topshop
River Island
Asos for their own brands plus pull&bear who do gorgeous clothes
Zara
Miss Selfridge
H&M
eBay (mostly looking for the brands above)
Occasionally boohoo and PLT for basic tops/camis

Claudiawinksatmen · 07/01/2018 10:29

I am 50. This is where I have to shop as I am tall and also currently poor and fat. Not where I would like to shop.

Next - Jeggings and boots in the sale
Matalan, Tu, Roman Originals - tops
Occasional bargain - Asda and Peacocks
Occasional treat/Birthday present - Fat Face
Underwear - M&S via eBay "ex chainstore" type sellers

Floisme · 07/01/2018 10:41

I prefer going to the actual shops than shopping online.

Oh me too. A couple of years ago I was buying nearly all my clothes online but I'm so over it now. I'm sick of having to order at least 2 of the same thing cos I can't trust anyone's sizing; sick of trekking to the post office or the Hermes drop off; sick of waiting for refunds. Plus I find the whole online experience totally joyless.

BeastOfCraggyIsland · 07/01/2018 11:07

I'm 36.
H&M
Uniqlo
TopShop (jeans)
Hush
FatFace
Saltrock
Lululemon
Ann's Cottage for summer/beachy/surfy brands
Seasalt (Breton tops)
M&S (underwear)

I wear a lot of outdoorsy stuff from Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock, mostly Arc'teryx, Rab, Mountain Equipment, Patagonia and Prana.

Shoes: Salomon, Converse, Adidas, Clarks, FatFace, Sorel, Havaianas, Celtic & Co., Dubarry.

BikeRunSki · 07/01/2018 11:12

Mid 40s
I am trying not to buy clothes other than socks, underwear and spurts stuff for a year.
Before this- Boden a d white stuff for dessert, Celtic &Co for knitwear, Thought, M&S (jeans), BAM, Charity Shops. I’d just discovered Uniqlo too. I want to like Toast but my waist is too low for them -dresses always sit wrong, tops too shirt, trousers barely cover my bum. One of my favourite garments is a shirt from Plumo.

grandolddukeofyork · 07/01/2018 11:58

I'm surprised so many of you say fat face - what do you all buy from there? I've never had any luck there.

OP posts:
BikeRunSki · 07/01/2018 12:19

I bought 2 Breton tops from Fatface about 2 years ago, and they are excellent quality and fit. I have tried others since svd they have been very poor in comparison.

FF also used to be my “go to” place for jeans, but not any more. Their styles are now generally far to skinny for my muscley calves or low for my long back and middle aged tummy. They used to go lovely mid rise wide leg jeans in a really soft denim. I know fashions have changed, but I really cannot wear skinnies.
