Bravissimo Horror, had to get it off my chest

Hetaera · 05/01/2018 14:43

Today was my first visit to a new-ish Bravissimo and I wanted to share it as I am now blaming myself for being over sensitive.

The experience has left me feeing really horrid and upset.

The lady fitting me seemed annoyed I had not come wearing a proper bra (this was why I was bra shopping!). She absolutely insisted that I was a 36D or a 36DD if I was "lucky" in some styles. I was put me in a series of uncomfortable bras which gave me breasts in my armpits and rolls of back fat. The back of the bra was also riding up very high, which was odd considering the way it was pinching my flesh.
I was given absolutely no privacy, it was very shocking. No time was given to put things on myself and I was continually told about my asymmetry. She even left the changing room door open on me whilst I was topless.
Obviously, I decided against a purchase. I went and had a cry afterwards.
I now have a lovely bra from M&S in a 34E (self-fitted as I'd had enough nudity for one day), which feels very comfortable.

Should I complain or am I just being silly? I have been fitted a fair few times so I am not prudish or weird about it,

Which bra are you wearing in the photo?

SlowlyShrinking · 05/01/2018 14:44

Definitely complain. She sounds awful. I only get bras from bravissimo and they’ve never been like that with me!

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 05/01/2018 14:44

Complain!!
The fitters at Bravissimo are usually really good but she sounds terrible!

MyBrilliantDisguise · 05/01/2018 14:45

She sounds incredibly rude. I would have been very upset and I would definitely complain. It's quite a vulnerable time and the last thing you want is no privacy and a criticism of your figure.

SlowlyShrinking · 05/01/2018 14:46

Whenever I’ve been they’ve always asked if I want them to go out of the room while I try on, and I always say yes.

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 05/01/2018 14:47

If that's what you've fitted in ask to speak to the manager. She's so not doing her job right.

SlowlyShrinking · 05/01/2018 14:54

Obviously the bra you’ve got doesn’t fit, but isn’t 34E the same size as 36DD anyway?

wildbuttercup · 05/01/2018 14:54

Absolutely complain - to avoid this happening to somebody else.
Whenever I've been fitted they always leave the room and made me feel very comfortable. I hope this bad experience doesn't put you off.

MargotLovedTom1 · 05/01/2018 14:58

Why the photos? I find it hard to believe someone who fits bras for a living would enforce the one in the photo (if that is a Bravissimo bra).

HuskyMcClusky · 05/01/2018 15:01

A specialist bra fitter put you in that?!

Hetaera · 05/01/2018 16:11

A Bravissimo bra fitter genuinely put me in this. I'm not being an exhibitionist, I promise.
I just needed a new bra, I didn't care what the size was and if a 34E is a 36DD or whatever.
It was the fitting process that made me feel so awful. Have been to Bravissimo in Norwich a few times and they were amazing, very respectful and gave me privacy. This lady was hoiking the bras off me in front of my face Blush
Saved me some money I suppose, still want to cry about it though.

Apologies for the multiple images, there was only supposed to be one!

Best place I've ever been for a fitting was Rigby & Peller. They really know their stuff and every bra they brought fitted perfectly.

Quite pricey though and yes I'd definitely complain about the fitter.

grannytomine · 05/01/2018 16:17

It's all smoke and mirrors. I used to fit bras and corsetry. Makes vary, style vary. The only thing you can do is try them on. There is no magic about it. I would advise anyone to do what I do, go to M&S pick a couple of style in 2 or 3 sizes e.g. 34ee, 36dd, 36d or whatever and try them on.

I hated the job and had more sexual harassment than I ever got working with men. It was an education.

tellitlikeitispls · 05/01/2018 16:23

Complain. This will happen to every woman she 'fits' unless someone says something. Its not at all acceptable.
I've been fitted in Bravissimo a couple of times. The fitters were very discreet on both occasions and asked if they should leave the room whilst I tried on the bras (I said I didn't mind them staying if I faced the other way whilst putting on) One of them did repeat more than I felt necessary that I 'don't have any fullness' but the overall experience was good.

JanetStWalker · 05/01/2018 16:23

Definitely complain!

Abra1d · 05/01/2018 16:25

That fitter is in the wrong job.

Hope you’re OK now,

TittyGolightly · 05/01/2018 16:28

go to M&S

I’d need about 8 M+S bras for my Js!

grannytomine · 05/01/2018 16:33

OK go to a shop that stocks j cups and do the same. The point is going to somewhere to get fitted is a con. Try the bras on, if they fit great. If not try another.

ArcheryAnnie · 05/01/2018 16:37

I'd second Rigby and Peller - the cost is eyewatering, but worth it. I don't spend money on clothes as a rule (wear them until they are practically worn through) but bras from R&P are an exception. The fitters are gods amongst women, and don't even touch you at all!

Ollivander84 · 05/01/2018 16:43

Please ring/Facebook/email bravissimo as they will want to know. That bra is a horrendous fit and not their usual fitters standard

TittyGolightly · 05/01/2018 16:45

The point is going to somewhere to get fitted is a con.

Couldn’t disagree more.

Neolara · 05/01/2018 16:48

I was very unimpressed by Rigby and Peller when I bought a bf bra many years ago. The woman didn't seem to understand that as I'd just fed dd my boobs were about half the size they were going to be in about 2 hours time. Mind you, the shop had only just opened so maybe it was teething problems..

MiddleClassProblem · 05/01/2018 16:51

Definitely email head office. They are usually so good they would hate for this to have happened.

grannytomine · 05/01/2018 16:52

TittyGolightly, well look at the OPs photos. You seriously think that any sane woman couldn't choose a bra that fits better than that?
