What's the very best eyeshadow you've ever tried?

I was just wondering what the best eyeshadow you've ever tried is? Mine from best to worst is:

-Huda Rose Gold (late present from DP and I'm obsessed 😍

  • Urban Decay (I have two of these and I don't think they're AMAZING but I don't wear eyeshadow primer so maybe that's where I'm going wrong?)
  • Max Factor- some colours showed up but some blended into nothing.
  • Soap and Glory- like chalk and just had no pigment at all.

What are some of the best/worst eyeshadows that you've owned/tried?

I adore the Chantecaille eyeshadows, my current favourite is the ‘Save the Forest’ the colours and pigmentation is fabulous makes application a dream!!

Also for an easier more low key/day to day I like the Tom Ford Cream Colour (spice or opale) or the Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerise in Jean or Marie Antoinette!

loveka · 03/01/2018 22:37

Bobbi Brown and Mac.

BluebellGal · 03/01/2018 22:40

Urban decay with the minor sin primer- amazing pigment, blendability and staying power

BusterGonad · 03/01/2018 22:44

By Terry eyeshadow sticks, so beautiful. Chanel gorgeous colours but you need to take your time. Pupa silky like butter and gorgeous micro shimmer.
Worst were Avon (years ago), some Revlon were shite, some ok. L'Oréal quads are crap, no colour payoff.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 03/01/2018 23:37

I'm currently searching for the perfect eyeshadow so am watching with interest.
I like Benefit as a base colour. Laura Mercier has some fab eye crayon colours but I find they crease badly. I'm looking for strong pigment and no creasing but have drawn a blank so far ...

I own an obscene amount of eyeshadow BlushGrin

The ones I rate most highly are:

  • Rouge Bunny Rouge. Don't hear much about them these days but they are fabulous.
  • MAC veluxe pearl and matte shadows
  • By Terry Ombré Blackstars
  • Bobbi Brown long wear cream shadows

I find Chanel to be hit and miss (although just purchased this new Chanel palette and it's stunning : goo.gl/images/9TYmLY)

Morphe 35O, prima glitters. Like revolution pallets for a pop of colour

ZacharyQuack · 04/01/2018 03:53

I have a ridiculous amount of eyeshadow (violetbunny, that Chanel palette looks gorgeous). My faves are:

  • Viseart mattes
  • Rogue Bunny Rogue shimmers
  • Some Nars duos (though some are duds)
  • Tom Ford Cognac Sable and Nude Dip and the cream shadows (mainly because they're fancy)
  • Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts
  • Makeup Geek and Colourpop both do some great shadows
  • ABH Modern Renaissance, though I'm not fond of red tones, and the Mario palette both have a lovely formula. I hope they put out a cooler toned palette soon
  • Mac Extra Dimension shadows. I find regular Mac eyeshadows fairly average but love the ED ones
  • Zoeva

I have a sentimental fondness for Bobbi Brown matte shadows, though some of her palettes are poor. Love the cream shadow sticks and By Terry's sticks as well.

Lorac. Not sure what the palette is called but I love it.

honeylou42 · 04/01/2018 07:07

MUA bronze eyeshadow here, such a bargain at £1 and it has amazing pigment and staying power

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/01/2018 07:13

The very best is Surratt.

Incredibly finely milled and pigmented, beautiful colours, expensive though.

Ollivander84 · 04/01/2018 17:46

Makeup geek, 90% of my eyeshadows are from there and the pigmentation is fab
Lorac
ABH modern renaissance

lovingmatleave · 04/01/2018 18:04

Guerlain - still have a palette bought years ago and love it. Depth, durability and a bit of shimmer.
Dior 5 colour palette - find the right mix of shades for your skin
Chanel single eyeshadow - only ever had one but it had an accident and the colour has been discontinued (colour Complice). Oh man I loved it and found it much better than the palette shadows.

thethoughtfox · 04/01/2018 18:09

Just bought a Make Up Revolution nude palette which I just grabbed on the way out of the door in Superdrug because it was only 4 pounds. Amazing. I seem to have oily eyelids -anyone else? - and eyeshadow usually crease and mascara smudges. This looked liked I had just applied it after a whole day out and about including rain.

Babababababybel23 · 04/01/2018 18:11

Urban decay for me. I bought it on holiday and Thai. It got to 40 degrees and I lost the rest of my makeup from sweating. My eyeshadow was the only thing left

Babababababybel23 · 04/01/2018 18:11

In Thailand that should of said

Butterfly1975 · 04/01/2018 18:16

The Maybelline colour tattoo cream eyeshadow has really impressive lasting power! I have the bronze one.

I love my UD Smokey palette and use with the UD primer. Definitely lasts all day for me - I have really oily skin too.

Agree the MUA nude palettes are amazing for the money too!!

XmasFairy86 · 04/01/2018 18:23

In love with the Revolution ones from Superdrug.
Urban decay have some good staying power with a decent primer

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 04/01/2018 19:36

Look Fabulous Forever eyeshadows are lovely for wrinkly folk like 54-year-old me.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 04/01/2018 19:58

Urban Decay, I use ELDW foundation though and carry it over on to my eyelids. The pigmentation is great and it blends really well.

Tried Stila recently, awful! Even the darkest brown barely showed up.

redmarkone · 04/01/2018 20:30

any Mac powder, so easy and smooth. still on 12 hours later.
husband bought me a marc jacobs eyeconic palette and these are lovely but with slightly less staying power but still very good.

WellTidy · 04/01/2018 20:39

Oh dear god, I now really really need that chantecaille save the forest palette. It is beautiful. Does anyone know how I can buy it for less than the rrp of £76?

PhatSlag · 04/01/2018 20:44

Urban Decay, although Charlotte Tilbury Chameleon one is good too.

Worst one I’ve got is maybe a Rimmel- good colour but recent photos from a night out tell me that it had travelled over most of my face Grin
Also Avon ones always look nice in the brochure but they’re never pigmented enough and are wishy-washy.
Looked at some Laura Mercier ones in Space NK and the colours were gorgeous.

AquaAddict · 04/01/2018 20:56

Kat Von D. I have a couple. Dd1 gave me some last Christmas and then gave me another palette this year. I love them. Also Jeffree Star. She bought me the beauty killer palette as she wanted to show me how good she thought it was.

Revolution though I can’t get on with. They just seem to vanish on me even with primer

SomethingAboutNothing · 04/01/2018 21:11

DH got me a limited edition bare minerals set that had lovely eyeshadow lose powders in. Go on really nicely and have such a depth of colour.
