What's the very best eyeshadow you've ever tried?

I was just wondering what the best eyeshadow you've ever tried is? Mine from best to worst is:

-Huda Rose Gold (late present from DP and I'm obsessed 😍

  • Urban Decay (I have two of these and I don't think they're AMAZING but I don't wear eyeshadow primer so maybe that's where I'm going wrong?)
  • Max Factor- some colours showed up but some blended into nothing.
  • Soap and Glory- like chalk and just had no pigment at all.

What are some of the best/worst eyeshadows that you've owned/tried?

I have the Huda Rose gold palette , the Morphe 360 ( I think), several Urban Decays, lots of MAC, some Chanel, some Bobbi Brown etc etc and a new one called OPV Gorgeous II. All very nice and very pricey but my current favourites are the MUA pearls singles in Chamoisee, Platinum and Copper. 99p each AND buy 2 get one free. I use them 4 or 5 days a week. Smudged on with a finger and roughly blended any 2 give a fresh looking, flake free, metallic sheen that lasts all day.

I have a Sleek one and I love it. Stays on all day or night.

I got a no7 palette and it's rubbish.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 04/01/2018 21:22

I was lucky enough to get the Kat Von D saint and sinner palette for Christmas. It’s the best eyeshadow I’ve ever owned by far, the level of pigment is unreal and the texture means it just glides on.

UF

LemonysSnicket · 04/01/2018 21:24

UD* Hmm

HintBean · 04/01/2018 21:28

I love the MAC eyeshadow cream pots. Do any other companies do cream eyeshadow? I can use it without a primer that's why I love it.

winchesterfan · 04/01/2018 21:34

Too Faced eyeshadows are lovely. The pallets come with cards showing you how to do some looks with the colours.
They last all day on me without any eye primer

goose1964 · 04/01/2018 22:14

Bourjois for me , when I was a teenager I had a gorgeous pale green with gold flecks and I was sold from then on.

knitknack · 04/01/2018 22:40

Zoeva and makeup geek... the zoeva is the best, I can’t believe their palettes are only £18! Way better than urban decay and half the price!

In fact I use my zoeva neutral shades even if I’m using a makeup geek or Dior pallete - I wish they did singles.

squoosh · 04/01/2018 22:56

Tom Ford's Platinum

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie · 05/01/2018 01:58

Max Factor Masterpiece Precision Liquid Eyeshadow

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/01/2018 15:14

Another vote for Zoeva - I use the Caramel Melange palette every day and every colour is useable.
Tarte eye shadows have good staying power, as do Hourglass but they are very finely milled so drop down can be a problem when applying.

Worst for me are MUA, Sleek and MUR - too sheeny for my ageing lids and go on patchy.

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 05/01/2018 21:41

I didn't think that much of the Urban Decay shadows i tried, but I have super oily lids and my shadow shifts even WITH primer.

The best shadow palette I've tried is actually a very cheap one - MUA Luxe Utopia palette (the Dusk Till Dawn palette is also very good).

Right now I love Beauty Pie's cream stick eyeshadow.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 05/01/2018 23:59

I was underwhelmed by Urban Decay too. I guess it depends on the primer you use and skin type and tone.

tabulahrasa · 06/01/2018 00:04

Urban decay... I can go out and sleep in it and still wake up with it on perfectly Blush Grin

mintich · 06/01/2018 00:14

Sleek, urban decay, body shop and Charlotte tilbury

NotTheQueen · 06/01/2018 00:16

hintbeam Maybelline does colour tattoo cream eyeshadows which are a good dupe of MAC paint pots. Revlon have started doing a Creme pot eyeshadow which I’ve got a few of too.

Inglots pigment loose powders are good. I’ve got three which I like.

Really, really hate Urban Decay. I couldnt get any decent pigmentation off the Urban Decay basics palette I had. I get on quite well with the NYX shadows palettes and hot singles.

Too many shadows have sparkle or glitter, which when I’ve got the onset of eye creases is a definite NO

FabalaTheGreenGirl · 06/01/2018 00:22

MN is so bad for my wallet.

Ollivander84 · 06/01/2018 00:26

I mentioned them before up thread but honestly if you haven't tried makeup geek, do! They're about £5 per eyeshadow and the colours are amazing. Range of matte/shimmer/duochrome too
I use an eye primer under, usually NYX HD eye. Photo of my collection, much loved!

What's the very best eyeshadow you've ever tried?
FabalaTheGreenGirl · 06/01/2018 00:56

Thanks for the recommendation honeylou - I bought the MUA mono shadows in bronze and a few other shades.

Notmybag · 06/01/2018 10:13

How do you learn what to do with palettes?. I love the look of that rose gold one but wouldn't have a clue how to apply it.

UsernameInvalid66 · 06/01/2018 17:16

I love Benefit's "Big Beautiful Eyes" palette - it's exactly the right shade of neutrals for my orangey colouring - but it bugs me that they don't provide more of the lightest colour, which most people are probably going to use more of. I had Urban Decay Naked 3 once and really liked it, but had to get rid of all my then current eyeshadows when I had conjunctivitis, and just couldn't afford to replace that one - I'm hoping someone will give me a set as a present one day!

Don't know what's worst really. I still remember some purple eyeshadow from my teens that was just so hard it either didn't come off on the applicator at all or went on in a big blob that was unblendable, but that was getting on for 40 years ago and in any case I can't remember the brand.

sparklebot90 · 06/01/2018 17:20

Does anyone remember GirlActik? Amazing stuff! Don't make it anymore though :(

Poppiesway1 · 06/01/2018 17:27

I brought some urban decay pallets many years ago in USA and they were fab, they were my favourites for many years. (I was excited when our nearest city got a HoF and they sold it) (I’m in a rural area so Boots is only make up place to try before buying here!) I recently had to go to a yonique “party” and relunctanly brought an eye shadow / cream thing. And I actually love it. It’s stayed put all day, I even slept in it and was still there the next day.

Thelonewanderer · 06/01/2018 17:38

Concrete minerals eyeshadows are amazing!
