...from Vonsara Beauty Box on Facebook.

It's been verified by Too Faced as a fake and it will be winging it's way to Trading Standards in the morning.

Vonsara messaged me to say that they don't guarantee that they sell genuine products.

Just giving you all a heads up.

Is it not illegal to sell fake products

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/01/2018 19:51

Also you might be best to ask MNHQ to move your thread to either chat or aibu.
as there is a lot more traffic there

CoedynSbageti · 01/01/2018 19:54

I would think so but in this case it was sold as a Too Faced product so it is definitely illegal. They want me to send it back before they'll issue a refund but then they'll have the money and the evidence!! I've said that that as they've already been dishonest I would need the refund before sending it back. They've dug their heels in though so it looks as though Trading Standards will be receiving it instead.

Ok, thanks Smile

Take it to twitter, and facebook. Complain to the highest level of Too faced as they may be able to get the site and the company shut down.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/01/2018 19:58

God knows what's in these fake products.

CoedynSbageti · 01/01/2018 20:09

Well I guess it's a lesson for my young teen that when something seems too good to be true then it usually is. £18 is quite a low price to pay for that particular lesson but they still shouldn't be able to get away with it.

I don't really want to know what's in it, it doesn't bear thinking about! DD certainly isn't going to be putting it anywhere near her face!!

K1092902 · 01/01/2018 20:11

Do not let her use it. DSD2 brought a fake MAC one a few years ago and ended up getting an eye infection. Obviously no proof but bit of a coincidence if it wasn't that.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/01/2018 20:12

It shouldnt have to be a case of it being a lesson to your dd. They shouldn't be selling fake goods

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 01/01/2018 20:25

Did she pay by Paypal? If so you can issue a claim against them. Report as good not as advertised

VivaLeBeaver · 01/01/2018 20:29

I think if a credit card was used then you can also get a refund through the card company?

CoedynSbageti · 01/01/2018 22:48

Hmm, PayPal will sort out a refund if I send it back in the same condition it arrived in. Nevermind that it is an illegal item! Well it's not in the same condition as it has been opened and we've compared it to the real palette in-store. Does that mean we don't qualify? I think PayPal need to rethink that policy. If we hadn't opened it and tried it we wouldn't have known it was a fake!!

Not that it matters as I'm quite happy to lose the £18 and deliver it to Trading Standards instead. It's shocking that people out there are deliberately taking advantage of others in this way. It's more likely to be the inexperienced or low income shoppers that get caught out.

I accidentally bought fake ghds from EBay and PayPal were useless Sad

I haven't used eBay/ PayPal since then.

AlexanderHamilton · 01/01/2018 22:56

What a horrible Facebook page. Fancy alternating selling palettes with elf in the shelf (or rather toilet) poo smeared fake pictures & swearing.

CoedynSbageti · 01/01/2018 23:10

I hate that Elf pic, so crude!

OP posts:
Ginfiend · 01/01/2018 23:16

Wow! Their grammar is awful, v v low quality photos. Photos not arranged properly. Hopefully your daughter has unfortunately learnt to look a bit closely, or to show you first next time before thinking of buying.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 01/01/2018 23:53

What elf pic?Confused

CoedynSbageti · 02/01/2018 00:10

They have shared a pic of elf on the sitting on a toilet covered with lots of brown (chocolate?) stains. Is it not there now? Maybe they are following the thread...

DrivinHomeForXmas · 02/01/2018 00:14

They don't appear to claim that their make up is any particular make do they? Unless I am missing it?

CoedynSbageti · 02/01/2018 00:15

No, it's still there.

OP posts:
CoedynSbageti · 02/01/2018 00:18

They have removed the post selling the too faced palette. Through December they seem to have been selling bundles so haven't specified a brand. I haven't looked that closely though tbh. Although if they are selling an item which is in 'branded' packaging without specifying that the product inside isn't actually that brand that can't be right.

OP posts:
CoedynSbageti · 02/01/2018 00:21

And yet nowhere on their site does it state that the products aren't genuine!

Selling “dupe” products is generally ok, but companies go very close to the line - pretty much of all of the Superdrug I heart makeup range are dupes (in fact, they do a lot of too faced dupes - colours are the same. Quality isn’t though). Selling fake/counterfeit products IS illegal. Would be one or more of trade mark infringement/copyright infringement/design right infringement or passing off. Trading standards are the right people to tell, as well as too faced themselves, who have a reputation to protect and are American, so not afraid of some litigation !

movingtowardsthelight · 02/01/2018 00:44

I bought eyeshadow set on eBay that was fake.

eBay were fab. They said to open a case as item not as described and they would refund.
They did.

The product was poor quality and the box was obviously fake.

You can’t trust fake make up as it can have high levels of chemicals. They don’t conform to any health and safety standards.

I didn’t return the product as the seller had the option to refund in full or pay to return the item and then refund in full.

It goes to show how little the item cost them if they didn’t want the product back for the price of the postage.

The product is now in the bin.
