I am wearing a long dress today, I brought in Primark a few years, i wear it every year, lots of people commented on it today.

redhotdiva · 19/04/2007 23:37

is the lake side one biger than the new southend one or the basildon one

ScummyMummy · 19/04/2007 23:40

According to wikipedia the largest primark in the uk is in Cardiff. The Oxford St one is the "flagship" store though. Whatever that means.

redhotdiva · 19/04/2007 23:45

flagship means it the "best" store

they get all the new ranges first etc

ScummyMummy · 19/04/2007 23:46

Huzzah!

prettymum · 19/04/2007 23:48

went to the new one in oxford street, felt so lost in it and didnt hang around as it was too busy for my liking. but i love the night wear in there, have a nice collection at home.

inanidealworld · 20/04/2007 14:51

Just had my first experience of Primark today. I am not particularly poor and like luxury stuff too but I also like a good bargain and I hate being ripped off. So for 100% cotton t-shirts, jeans, pjs etc for kids who will grow out of stuff in 6 months it is fantastic! Plus nice recyclable paper bags. Oxford ST retailers watch out.

inanidealworld · 20/04/2007 14:51

Mind you have to allow half an hour to queue for the checkouts.

hoxtonchick · 20/04/2007 14:53

am loving my 100% linen wide legged trousers for 8 quid

moopymoo · 20/04/2007 14:55

i heard a mum in the nightmare playground slagging off another mum saying ' shes more primark than prada iyswim' i butted in 'id take that as as compliment' silly women. prob why i have no friends at ds school!

NuttyMuffins · 20/04/2007 14:55

God some of you are so bloody snobby.

I went to Primark a couple of weeks ago Pelvic. They have loads of very basic tops as normal and then a few slightly more fancy ones.
I think I got a plain black v neck top and also got a lovely green tunic style top that I am wearing today, and am pleased to say that I don't look at all chavvy.

The clothes also last more than 2 washes, as obviously I wouldn't keep buying from there otherwise, am skint not thick.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 20/04/2007 14:57

That Orla Kiely bag is v.nice. I also got a wide orange belt today at Primark

inanidealworld · 20/04/2007 15:00

And the staff were all polite and helpful. Not easy in such a busy store. Will definetely be going back, Anyway got great hoody sweatshirt for ds £1. £1??!! I mean, I ask you.

It's not easy wading through the piles on the floor in the Hackney Central one, hc...

hoxtonchick · 20/04/2007 15:09

i will take you on a mission kp . next week?

ScummyMummy · 20/04/2007 15:11

I like the Hacney Central one a lot but it's def worth going west and try Oxford St unless you don't like crowds, hc. They really have a massive selection.

krabbiepatty · 20/04/2007 15:11

ooh, an offer I can't refuse as long as our, ahem, working-on-childcare-at-home days crossover somewhere, hc.

ScummyMummy · 20/04/2007 15:11

k

newgirl · 20/04/2007 15:12

and linen short sleeve top very tasteful

were some weird orange jackets in there though - don't get one of those!!

krabbiepatty · 20/04/2007 15:12

Although Scummymummy paints a most tempting picture of this Oxford Street one...

MrsBadger · 20/04/2007 15:14

I was once evacuated from the Mare St one after the police followed someone in with a machne pistol...

I went looking for a maxi dress specifically yesterday in Primark (new one just opened in Bedford) and found nothing that went remotely near my ankles(I am 5'8")!! v peeved to hear there are long dresses to be found - didn't stop me spending 40 quids on tops and jeans - I thought their simple cotton smock tops v nice and wearable and good for hiding post baby jelly belly

krabbiepatty · 20/04/2007 15:19

Ah but that could have happened in any shop in Hackney Central, Mrs Badger, the Woollies for example.
