I saw on a makeover show that the secret is to move from the hips, pushing each hip forward like models do.

(Can't vouch for the results, tho, as I never wear heels)

I've always worn 2 to 3 inch heels. The wider the heel the easier it is. It's largely you get used to it. I find it hard to walk in flats after walking in heels and vice versa. I would say my weight was at the back. One Mum is always seriously impressed when I run after my son in heels but I've always done that šŸ˜‚

practice....lots of it..
the marble/slippy floor thing though still gets me...i find i have to put weight onto toes almost and sort of tiptoe on slippy floors

I LOVE HEELS...

I used to use a wheelchair a lot and have ridiculous shoes for it that I chants even stand up inGrin

You need strong ankles.

Practice walking around on your tiptoes, always walk upstairs on your tiptoes

When you are standing still somewhere, eg waiting for the kettle to boil, rise up high onto your toes then lower your heels slowly until they are about an inch off the floor then go up / down / up / down as much as you can. When you get good at this, do it on one foot only (this will help with balance too)

Get shoes that fit properly and try to walk normally in them

It is all about strong ankles and swinging your hips! I chipped the bone in my ankle and damaged the ligaments badly seven months ago (which wasn't casted as it wasn't picked up as a break at the time) and had to wear heels for the first time this week, I normally run around in flats now I'm a SAHM. I used to wear smart high heels every day for work.

My ankle is so weak! It was very very hard to walk nicely in them all afternoon and I really noticed it on the bad ankle side. It was quite sore for a day after too. They were only about 3 inches too Confused

Oh, well, I have pretty much the weakest ankles ever so I think I will give up! Grin

Resign yourself to taking smaller steps and slow down. I also like to imagine that I am some glamorous film star which the world will bloody well wait for, no matter if I get there late, which makes me less irritated at the lack of pace.

I really only wear them for special occasions now Smile though if I am giving a talk then I also wear heels (slip them in a bag and put them on when I get there).

I think yoga and pilates help. I do both at least 4/5 times a week and am certain that they've helped my core to be so much more stable so that walking in heels is all about keeping that core strong.
