Not used to a short trousers look
Do i look odd?
The trousers are Blue, jacket Blue velvet, boots Blue suede (different tones but boots and trousers similar)
Got Grey tights under.
To me it isnt quite right.
Before i go out like this to work tomorrow can you either reassure me or point me in the right direction please.

Do these boots look odd.

The tan boots are the winner. -and I love them actually!

goinground · 26/11/2017 18:13

With the flat shoes , I would wear fishnet type ankle socks.

With the boots , either the Trouser needs to be very close fitting at the bottom or your boot needs to be very close fitting around the ankle .

Slightly gaping boots and slight gape at the bottom of the Trouser do not go together , it's one or the other .

The Trouser length is great , very on trend and you are never to old to wear anything you are drawn towards.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/11/2017 18:14

The tan ones look really good.

Chewbecca · 26/11/2017 18:14

Oh yeah, beige boots look good.

Wish my legs/ankles were that petite.

You look fab & stylish.

Ollivander84 · 26/11/2017 18:15

mrspatel77 · 26/11/2017 18:17

I think you look great, you have a lovely figure so you can get away with looking funky! Do it!

buttwingsham · 26/11/2017 18:35

Beige boots definitely.

Rollerbird · 26/11/2017 18:53

Yay!!
Everyone's a winner baby!
(thanks so much mumsnet!!)
So the collective conclusion is navy flats with pop socks (or fishnet socks) , or (number 1) the beige boots with the pop socks. ( can someone confirm for me on the boots is it right leg - trousers rolled up one roll) or left leg - not rolled up???

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 26/11/2017 18:55

Rolled up (your right leg in the pic)

rightknockered · 26/11/2017 19:12

I wear slightly cropped jeans/trousers with block heeled ankle boots, and think they look good. They suit you op, you look fab. I'm 40s by the way

AnyFucker · 26/11/2017 19:14

I wear ankle grazing jeans and trousers and I am in my 50's

Summer time is easier, tbh. Birkies, flip flops etc.

Winter has to be ankle boots, for sure. Tuck your socks down out of sight.

mercurymaze · 26/11/2017 19:46

see when i wear trousers like that with boots or whatever even if they look fine, it's when you sit down that they ride up and i feel like i'm wearing pedal pushers in winter with boots and it's not a good look Grin i've taken to wearing floor skimming trousers instead in winter now

BerylStreep · 26/11/2017 20:08

Yes, beige with the shorter trouser leg is best. I like both pairs in the dog pic, but the ones the dog is looking at is slightly better.

(I have the same black croc ones in the dog pic!)

Nettletheelf · 26/11/2017 22:30

Not the beige boots! Not the beige boots! They don’t work. The contrast is too much and you risk looking as if you have hooves.

The beige loafers say ‘bunions’ and ‘old lady’. Burn them.

Boots in original pic unspeakable with the trousers. Ditto the shoe boots, which are unspeakable in their own right.

Both pairs of dark loafers better. Not particularly stumpifying. But would be better still with a more feminine shoe with a small heel. Google Holliday Granger as Robin in the BBC Cormoran Strike adaptations, that is how it is done.

I would also wear a less froofy scarf because it makes your upper body look bigger than I think it really is.

But there is much to be optimistic about! You look great in skinny trousers unlike 70% of the women in Britain, your blazer is nice and you are experimenting with new looks.

Rollerbird · 26/11/2017 23:18

nettle
I love your plain speaking Smile
Thanks - i have some court shoes i can try too, but feel loads more positive generally now!!

My teens had jeans like this on the other day, I said has your budgie died, they said what and I said well you have got half mast jeans on, they both looked at me like this HmmConfused and went on their way. Must be a thing now to have short pants.

HamSandWitches · 26/11/2017 23:24

I'm secretly pleased though as I am tall so end up with jeans too long which don't fit right or ones that fit which are too short but I dare not wear, now I can

Pancakeflipper · 26/11/2017 23:24

It's fine whatever your age.
I saw a neighbour today who is in her 80's with wide legged ankle length trousers in tweed with similar boots. And a swing lime green coat and a orange and red scarf. She looked ready to rock.

Littlehenrylee · 26/11/2017 23:29

I'd wear that outfit with either tan popsocks or shimmer www.stories.com/us/Lingerie/Socks/Metallic_Socks/102345663-0522310001.2 and brogues

HappenstanceMarmite · 27/11/2017 09:37

Popsocks?!?! Please say it ain't so?! 😫

Nettletheelf · 27/11/2017 10:05

One of my friends swears that an ex boyfriend went off her when he saw her ironing a shirt for work wearing her underwear and popsocks.

Rollerbird · 27/11/2017 11:30

Lol. at the popsock hate.
They are hidden and i need the tiny bit of extra wind and cold protection!

OP posts:
CountFosco · 27/11/2017 12:30

I wear (warm) snazzy socks with my ankle skimmers if I'm wearing brogues but trainer socks if I'm wearing ankle boots. The snazzy socks are recommended by Enbrogue, she has done entire blog posts about socks Smile.

Completely disagree that this is a look for the young. There are millions of us middle aged women wearing this look and it's completely age appropriate (whatever that might mean Grin).

Littlehenrylee · 27/11/2017 12:54

Popsocks are hideous but useful. They MUST be the last thing you put on and the FIRST thing you take off though 😀
