I quite fancy some cropped jeans, I think they might look funky and will go with lots of other things on my wardrobe
BUT am a size 12/14
will I look ludicrous?

I have some, am a 16 on the bottom (I think? M+S says 14, but they lie, don't they?). I don't think they look that good, but they're very good for biking in, which is why I bought them.

do not get butt cleavage ones

ceolas · 20/04/2007 18:45

Trinny and susannah are a bit anti crops are they not?

I wear them anyway and am size 18

Chocolateface · 20/04/2007 18:46

Ones that are really tight around the waist, with a roll offat hanging over, which you can see through a tight T-shirt are to be avoided at all times.

pesme · 20/04/2007 18:47

i don't think anyone looks good in cropped trews (runs and hides)

Spidermama · 20/04/2007 18:47

They can be a little arse enhancing.

hana · 20/04/2007 18:47

fat face have some nice ones
I'm in market for new ones this year, havne't bought cropped in ages, it's mostly skirts ( very forgiving skirts)

Spidermama · 20/04/2007 18:47

NQC do M&S lie?

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 20:01

Well, I think they do. I am reliably a 16 on the bottom in H+M and Topshop. (I cannot fit into an 18 in jeans in Gap.) But I seem to be a 14 in M+S.

Nightynight · 20/04/2007 21:01

cropped jeans yes. Huge turnups, no way - only 39 yr olds wear them

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 20/04/2007 21:03

Yes! I am a 12 (plus atm?) and I have some stretch/skinny ones which I think look nice with long tops/dress things

PestoMonster · 20/04/2007 21:05

I've got some with the turn-ups and I'm older than 39, I didn't know they had an age limit...?

ILoveDolly · 20/04/2007 21:06

is it more funky to have cropped jeans or cropped trousers in check/plain fabric - a bit safari with a crease down the front? they are slimming too as they elongate the leg

MuminBrum · 20/04/2007 21:51

Well, Pesme, looks like it's just you and me who don't like the horrid things. Those cropped jeans always make me think of the Ogden Nash poems;

Sure, deck your limbs in pants,
Yours are the limbs, my sweeting.
You look divine as you advance . . .
Have you seen yourself retreating?

But I suppose if everyone else on MN wants to make their arses look huge, their legs look stumpy and their feet look Minnie Mouse-ish, that is their look-out ..

lissielou · 20/04/2007 21:53

i love my cropped jeans. but i am tiny. and if i had any curves and looked less like an 8y old boy, im sure id feel differently

SweetyDarling · 20/04/2007 21:53

Trinny and Susannah would say no unless you are very tall and skinny, as they chop off your leg and make thick ankles look thicker.
I like them though!

MarsLady · 20/04/2007 21:55

I have a lovely pair from Next. And I have a gorgeous arse!

WelshBoris · 20/04/2007 21:56

You can always rely on GDG to have awesome shoes.

WelshBoris · 20/04/2007 21:57

Mars does have an awesome ass.

fishie · 20/04/2007 22:02

tragically i had to return these as too small in the waist, so at least i avoided the cottage loaf look. but autograph m&s sizing is not a lie, they are really small.

pic horrid as usual

oh I have had croppe trousers but not cropped jeans
I don't have a problem with being 12/14 but was worried I would look sort of diamond shaped and they would make my arse look huge and legs stumpy.
the stiffness of the fabric &c
