thsoe tops wiht secret zips you dont see ont he side are the worst offenders

OP posts:
suzywong · 17/04/2007 12:08

yes
round my big far lardy arms
I just called the shopgirl, and she was a girl, and asked her to pull it off me. No point beating around the bush.

Ponce · 17/04/2007 12:09

i got stuck in a 12 wiht tiny armholes today

was really starting ot panic

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 17/04/2007 12:09

yes, some dress in a house of fraser
shop asst had to free me

Lllllllllllledodgy · 17/04/2007 12:10

I always get stuck when trying things with a lining in or stupid huge hanger loops that I end up sticking my arms through.

suzywong · 17/04/2007 12:10

it is a horrid feeling isn't it, the armholes. Why do they skimp on sleeve fabric?

Ponce · 17/04/2007 12:10

oh yes re hanger threads expecialyl if it has an under vest thing

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 17/04/2007 12:10

Tiny armholes my arse! YOu big chozzer

But yes, agree, I have with the ones with side zips too. Once the top is on, it fits but getting it off can be a bit hairy!

fishie · 17/04/2007 12:10

yes i got stuck in an esprit dress (also arms) the dress lost.

nogoes · 17/04/2007 12:11

Was it Karen Millen by any chance? I always get stuck in their clothes even when I was at my thinnest

Lilymaid · 17/04/2007 12:12

Laura Ashley ball gown (early 90s) with only a small side zip and a lot of shaping. I can't think why I tried it on as I never go to balls.

MrsBadger · 17/04/2007 12:12

oh yes
long sleeved tops with a built in vest are worst culprits, esp Coast

Quootiepie · 17/04/2007 12:13

Yes, some monsoon dress. I could get in fine, just couldn't get out. Oooo, I was panicing! (sp?) Did in the end though, looked a mess coming out.

NadineBaggott · 17/04/2007 12:14

yes in a Gap yonks ago.

Agree with suzy re skimping on sleeves, in fact the skimp on everything.

Sizing is all to pot too - On hols recently I had an old size 12 swimsuit and a new 12ss both M&S - the old one fit like a 10. I also had a really old linen shirt with me - size 8 and there was still loads of room in the arms, I wouldn't attempt to get into an 8 top these days.

its maddening

OrmIrian · 17/04/2007 12:20

Yes. A lovely halter-neck dress from French Connection (before it started calling itself a 4-letter word). I couldn't find my way into it and ended up completely tied up in knots. V embarrassing as it was a communal changing room .

When I finally worked it out it looked nice so I bought it - actually it had been so wrestled and fought with I'd have been embarrassed to put it back on the rail.

Furball · 17/04/2007 12:23

I hate trying on those tops with the vesty bit attached. It's awful trying to get them on and off. I usually give back a big knot of fabric with half of it inside out etc as I've givn up with the krypton factor test of trying to get it back on the hanger

Ponce · 17/04/2007 13:08

i DO think assistants whodul have to rehang tbh

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2007 13:19

Yes, and then when it was stuck round my ribcage, ds whooshed open the curtain in a ta-dahhh style and completely horrified 4 teemagers who were standing outside

I doubt they had seen stretchmarks OR cellulite before, but I like to think I did them a service in that I doubt they will be careless about contraception in future

DimpledThighs · 17/04/2007 13:20

yup - getting out of a peacock type thing in topshop on oxford street - bit tight pulled - heard a slight ripping sound - carried on pulling and told assistant I didn't like it.

Sorry if you bought it.

LL no they really looked appalled and frightened actually

I compunded it by completely losing it with ds (it had been a long day) and dragging him out of the shop with snot pouring down his face

Boco · 17/04/2007 13:26

I ripped my way out of a dress in Selfridges a few years ago - had a panic attack with it stuck over my head with my arms up.

My friend recently got the zip stuck on a pair of boots she was trying on and it took several staff members to get her out - they had break the zip in the end.

ScottishThistle · 17/04/2007 13:27

Got stuck in a boob tube many moons ago & it was 5mins to closing time.

I have to confess to ripping the garment for fear of having to call assistance & bumbling through in my limited french!

mumtolily · 17/04/2007 16:58

Many moons ago I got stuck in a pair of very tight leather trousers and needed two assistants to get me out. Yes, you've guessed it I was wearing a G string.

turquoise · 17/04/2007 17:04

I very nearly had to be cut out of a pair of thigh high leather boots in a Shelleys, many years ago (before I was a bloater!). Massively shaming.
