Probably very vain of me but the badge lanyard I have to use at work every day ruins all my outfits!!!
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a strong decent looking lanyard instead of the thick green or orange tape I am made to wear!! Grr

www.maisie-jane.com/

I’ve a few from here.

SesameSparkle · 01/11/2017 18:41

I had been meaning to ask something similar for a while, as I would also love a nice plain neck lanyard that doesn't interfere with my outfits. I've just ordered that h&m one to try.

BishopstonFaffing · 01/11/2017 18:46

I have to wear a green one that says staff (to differentiate between us and supply/students/volunteers). It's gross.

PurplePillowCase · 01/11/2017 18:46

is there a lanyard policy at your work?
check that first!
we have to wear it around the neck and with the (colour coded) original band.

Ttbb · 01/11/2017 18:53

Can't you just in your badge to your shirt?

Fekko · 01/11/2017 18:55

I used to shove my card into a conference badge holder with a clip and clip it onto my pocket or waistband. The 'beeps' were waist height so I just had to bump my hip against them to gain access (handy if I had full hands).

EggysMom · 01/11/2017 18:56

Most lanyards I've seen worn have a corporate branding, so couldn't be replaced. If you work somewhere that you can change your lanyard at will, you are very lucky Smile

Migraleve · 01/11/2017 19:00

I have about 20 different lanyards and change them regularly. They are not difficult to find online to buy.

ElfrideSwancourt · 01/11/2017 19:26

@BishopstonFaffing me too:( I keep my school whistle on a Harry Potter lanyard and wear that on top of the horrible school one. Just waiting for SLT to point out that the whistle could go on the school one too...

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/11/2017 19:34

My school aren’t picky thankfully. I have all of my things on one Harry Potter themed lanyard. I love it. Needs to be strong because I have to give my keys to the children so they can get around the school.

DancingHouse · 01/11/2017 19:34

A colleague at work has a range of lanyards so she can colour co-ordinate with the outfit she wears. She has at least 20 different ones on a hanger by her desk.

bigkidsdidit · 01/11/2017 19:37

Paper chase used to do one like that, you could try there. I have three from paperchase in different colours to match outfits.

SesameSparkle · 01/11/2017 20:00

Thanks for the Maisie Jane recommendation, I've just ordered one from them too. Have to admit I was a bit Hmm that the necklace ones are marketed as ladies and the leather for men.... Anyway, they have 20% off with code WeAreOne.

Puppymouse · 01/11/2017 20:01

I’m terrible I never wear mine as it makes my security pass bounce over my boobs Shock

doctorboo · 01/11/2017 20:01

A camera chain might work for you. My dh has silver chain (to hold his pocket sized canon) that's simple but strong and could hold keycards.

QueenLetizia · 01/11/2017 20:02

We have fobs that stretch out from a belt loop. V handy.

BishopstonFaffing · 01/11/2017 20:18

Elfrida - my whistle is attached. My new whistle that is. Because the other day I was picking up cat shit in the playground and as I bent forwards my old whistle was dipped in poo...

Fekko · 01/11/2017 20:20

😹

StepAwayFromCake · 01/11/2017 20:33

I never use my lanyard. I clip my badge-cum-door-fob to my scarf. I'm not supposed to do this, because the lanyard has an anti-strangulation link. You can buy these links separately, so, if my HR insist that I use a lanyard because H&S, I will buy a batch and make myself a set of silk sash lanyards in different colours.

strawberryblondebint · 01/11/2017 21:39

I have a mega bright one from smiggle. I love it but I am a primary teacher so qualify for a reason to wear silly bright necklaces.

ChishandFips33 · 02/11/2017 00:22

I take the I.D bit off and clip it to a long necklace

WillowWeeping · 02/11/2017 00:29

Personally I think you're better off brazening out the horror of a work lanyard rather than trying to customise with some sort of awful Facebook-sellers page esque customised job

JaceLancs · 02/11/2017 01:10

I don’t wear a badge often but mine is attached to a Victorian pinchbeck muff chain which attracts many favourable comments

HartlandRoad · 02/11/2017 06:14

WillowWeeping I sort of agree with what you're saying, and I really don't want to make a pretty feature out of the lanyard, quite the opposite, I want it to be a little less garish. But the 'plain' green tape I have to hang on my neck doesn't allow me to do this. It really does spoil outfits.
