Christmas Day outfits

I hope this isn't too early!

Has anyone started planning their Christmas Day outfit yet?

I'll be going to my very glamorous/trendy in laws (the whole extended family will be there and they are beautiful and always impeccably dressed!).

I'm hoping to have finally shifted my baby weight and the extra half a stone I already had. Would love to look fabulous! On a practical note, will be chasing around after my one year old, helping out in the kitchen, and MIL's house is always boiling.

Please inspire me!

Ooh that sounds lovely biddy I might try and copy that look a bit.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/11/2017 00:38

Something comfy. It's just DH, DD and me. We don't have anyone we can invite, and no-one to visit.

QueenofLouisiana · 01/11/2017 05:58

I bought a new bikini for Christmas Day this week. Navy, high waisted with a halter neck. I’ve got different navy bikini tops to mix it with to avoid strap marks. We’ll have landed in Fuertevenrura latish on Christmas Eve so I needed a fairly covering bikini for Christmas as I’ll still be snowy white!
Not sure about what to wear for dinner. I haven’t got to that point in my planning yet.

Same here. It does feel sad sometimes when Christmas is so much about big family and friends get togethers. But OTOH, I can dress as bonkersly as I like and there's noone to judge. Plus, it means that I'm spending Christmas with my favourite people in the world Smile

Velvet wrap dress and some statement earrings (tassels perhaps as I have quite a collection!), or a leather pencil skirt and sequinned top.

Thermowoman · 01/11/2017 07:38

I will be on the beach in my swimmers and a Santa hat. I will probably have a glass of champagne to accessorize. After the beach I will walk home in a beach kaftan and sparkly thongs.

Elledorado · 01/11/2017 07:43

Bound to be a hot Christmas for me too. I will be wearing this dress which is more flattering than it looks!

One day I will not have to bother with celebrate Christmas somewhere hot.

BusterGonad · 01/11/2017 07:51

Aureservoir why not? Some of us take pride in our appearance and like to make an effort! Believe it or not I even plan my outfits for my birthday, for a trip to the pub, for a visit to a friends house. It's a funny old world, who would've thought people enjoy looking good!

LivingInTheSeventies · 01/11/2017 08:01

@Elledorado when I first saw that dress I thought it would make a great Christmas dress! I will end up in Gorman.

Undercoverbanana · 01/11/2017 08:09

Running gear in the morning. Onesie in the afternoon/evening.

36plusandtrying · 01/11/2017 08:15

I'm potentially going for something like this for day ....www.seafolly.com.au/swimwear/bikini-separates/palm-beach-bustier-bandeau-bikini-top-skirted-hipster-bikini-pant.html
Then this for dinner ...

I'm normally a lot more festive .. but trying to be practical!

PenguinDi · 01/11/2017 08:30

Jeans and Xmas tshirt, we don’t go visiting and it’s only family so no one to impress.

BiddyPop · 01/11/2017 08:33

I am slightly torn this year. I will still need a "nice dress" (usually a woolen one) for going to mass etc. But as we are staying at home, I don't need to stay in it all day and we are half thinking about doing a Christmas Day swim (DD and I - DH will grudgingly hold the towels, and flask of hot choc!). So I might wear something more practical.

I will probably find something already in the wardrobe for both elements, rather than getting something new this year. But it doesn't mean that it doesn't still need planning - even if there is no actual purchasing involved! Xmas Grin

Norugratsatall · 01/11/2017 08:58

I love the idea of sparkly things or chunky Xmas jumpers, lots of jewellery, make up etc but in reality I entertain every year pretty much and I’m in a hot kitchen, bending down to get stuff out of a hot oven and so need something cool and comfortable so just wear leggings and a T-shirt! Everyone else is generally sitting around chatting with a drink in their hand so they get chilly and insist on the heating being on.....😳 I do love it though and wouldn’t change a thing...except to have my Mum back with us. Sorry that was a bit off topic and reminiscing.

Elledorado · 01/11/2017 10:12

Love Gorman Living. Gutted I missed the recent 20% off. And loving that CR mini dress 36 (but mis-marketed for the spring races IMHO - strapless and mini length is just wrong!)

36plusandtrying · 01/11/2017 10:32

Thanks Elle - agree not right for spring racing / have actually bought it for the ashes (always wear white to that) and thought it would be fab for Christmas Day too !!

Blackandpurple · 01/11/2017 10:35

Staying home and it will be jeand an jumper.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/11/2017 10:42

I plan outfits for special occasions. I thought everyone did, but I don't if I am going to a friend's for coffee or just staying at home with the family.

AnarchyKitty · 01/11/2017 10:43

Just me and himself this year. I may dress up but I'll probably just lounge around in red satin PJ's ( if I can find any I like Father Christmas buys them)

BitOutOfPractice · 01/11/2017 11:34

Ooo I actually startedthinking about this this morning.

Still not sure where I'll be though, at home or with my family oop north so that'll have a bearing

BrioAmio · 01/11/2017 11:48

I’ll have a newborn and a toddler, if I’m not wearing vomit I’ll consider my outfit a success 😂

BrioAmio · 01/11/2017 11:49

On the plus side I can probably legitimately still wear maternity jeans, so plenty of room for a roast!

n0ne · 01/11/2017 13:56

I got this last year from ASOS and got loads of compliments. It's super-flattering. Wore it with matt black opaques, silver jewellery and black ankle boots.

Buster me too. I use Instagram to create several collections named 'Casual Outfits' 'Dressy Outfits' etc. Very useful.

Right now I'm stressing a bit over what to wear to a comedy club tomorrow night. Not sure exactly how dressy to go Hmm
