Pretty or granny?

This isn't quite as bubblegum pink as it looks but do the stars and sequins and pearls on the neck make it a bit "granny trying to be fun"?
As an aside, why do even expensive ranges (this isn't) only put the decorations on the front? It can make things look cheap.

They both say, “I just picked up something a bit jazzy for line dancing”. The sweater is worse.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 21/10/2017 18:36

Just buy a plain sweater/cardi then you can 'jazz it up' with jewellry as you wish.
Both of those are bogging, sorry.
I love a bit of bling but no to both of those.

MustBeThursday · 21/10/2017 18:39

I would probably wear this with skinnies and DMs or hi tops as others have said. I’m 29 😳 and clearly I’m not very stylish!

SierraFerrara · 21/10/2017 18:39

Haha! Yes I do need an intervention!

I get why the pink one could be considered rest home chic but I really don't know the blue one is so offensive which is worrying.

If I could look at it and and say "well MNers don't like it and I can understand why but I do, so I'll wear it" that's fine but I'm at a complete loss why it's so bad.

Eg I bought these shoes a few days ago (to go with pencil skirts and plain work outfits) and I love them but can completely understand why some people would hate them so I'm confident in my choice to wear them. The blue cardie I don't.

Christ. It’s ALL horrific. Sorry to be blunt op

TheMasterNotMargarita · 21/10/2017 18:44

The blue cardie is just a bit cheap and nasty. It might not be but it looks it.
It's like something Brenda might wear to the bingo on her pals birthday with a pair or polyester slacks. It's the beading, it just screams lady over 70.
Not that I have anything against elderly ladies as I will be one all too soon! Grin

NamedyChangedy · 21/10/2017 18:44

I think I might be able to make the blue one work but I'd rather not have to!

RickOShay · 21/10/2017 18:44

Don’t like the tops but love the shoes Grin

Mominatrix · 21/10/2017 18:44

No to both cardies. The shoes, I could work with.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 21/10/2017 18:45

And yes, shoes are lovely!

polyhymnia · 21/10/2017 18:48

All cardigans look matronly on me as I have a huge bust. But that one looks naff mainly because of the cheap-looking 'embellishment'. As for the pink I think it's all been said!

SierraFerrara · 21/10/2017 18:49

Yay! One out of three - things are looking up! Grin

Both tops are a beautiful soft cashmere mix.

OK, I'm willing to accept the collective wisdom of MN and will return both tops.

Is it the sparkles?

OP posts:
TheMasterNotMargarita · 21/10/2017 18:52

YES!

Whisky2014 · 21/10/2017 18:54

I don't like the shoes :/ sorry

Tantpoke · 21/10/2017 18:55

Yes as soon as I saw the picture I thought this something my mum would wear who is indeed a granny.

Before now I didnt even realise it was a typical granny look Confused

AnaWinter · 21/10/2017 18:58

Pink is really IN at the moment. I would wear it with jeans and trainers or jeans and red boots. I don’t like the cardigan at all and the shoes are hideous.

verite · 21/10/2017 18:58

I hate sparkles and embroidery on knitwear so a no to both of them. The shoes are not my thing, but are nice enough for the genre.

MorrisZapp · 21/10/2017 19:00

I think the pink one is pretty.

usernameavailable · 21/10/2017 19:03

I need those shoes!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

SierraFerrara · 21/10/2017 19:04

As I say, I completely get why people wouldn't like the shoes and as such I'm confident to say I do and I'll wear them. So I'm keeping those. :)

It's when I don't see what's so bad that I get a bit wobbly.

But Master I liiiiiiike sparkles (whines).

Anyway, yes, I'll take them back.

The shoes are good. They remind me of my favourite marmite brand - irregular choice.

holdthewine · 21/10/2017 19:09

I’m 61 and it’s too old for me...

holdthewine · 21/10/2017 19:11

I’m referring to the jumper with sparkles. The cardigan is ok if that colour suits you.

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/10/2017 19:12

Love the pink top and the shoes.
If they are Granny, maybe Granny-Chic needs to be a thing. :)

AndromedaPerseus · 21/10/2017 19:13

Look OP if you like them wear them; We all have clothes we love but others hate but so what
