Help needed with a wedding dress

The one my DDs like best I don't think suits me...

it's this one

It's a lovely dress, but I'm very straight up and down and it seems to highlight my (lack of) waist.

I think I prefer this one but maybe it's too simple, too bridesmaidy.

Is it? I like their Sana dress too but this is a small country wedding, 2nd time for both of us, and I'm not sure it's right

The salma dress was my bridesmaid dresses at my wedding in the skylight colour. They are absolutely beautiful on.

I love both dresses though.

OlennasWimple · 09/10/2017 19:08

Does the first dress need taking in slightly at the waist to fit you better?

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 09/10/2017 19:17

There is a similar one in Monsoon too.

OlennasWimple · 09/10/2017 19:18

Short sleeves now with clicky link

BareBum · 09/10/2017 19:20

I prefer the 2nd one, I think the shape is nicer.

OlennasWimple · 09/10/2017 19:31

If it's not as stiff in RL as it looks in the photos, this Ted Baker dress is nice

Halter neck (who knew Dotty P did wedding dresses??)

presentcontinuous · 09/10/2017 19:52

Olenna no, it's me that doesn't go on at the waist unfortunately, not the dress...

Looking all your lovely links now Smile

I like that Monsoon one a lot! I wonder if it would suit me?

I love the second one! If I were getting married again I would seriously consider it.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 09/10/2017 21:37

I would order all of the ones you like and try them at home one after the other. You will be more relaxed and able to make a decision on what you feel good in and what suits you. Given how much you are spending you would probably get free delivery and returns too.

Dowser · 09/10/2017 23:05

I love the ghost ones and monsoon.
Not the sleeved one and one with silver on
You've got the figure.... knock em dead 😀

BulletFox · 10/10/2017 04:12

I'd honestly just send you mine if it fitted, it is an ivory silk duchesse satin with a scattering of crystals on the bodice. It's a small 8 and just sitting in the wardrobe, I don't really like seeing it.

Firefries · 10/10/2017 05:17

The Monsoon style dress really suits someone who is straight down. It's beautifully cut and it would emphasize and show off your back nicely.

presentcontinuous · 10/10/2017 06:56

I've had a good look at all of them and favourite by far is the Monsoon one. Ordering it for a home try-on.

Bullet fox thats a very kind offer! why dont you like your dress?

Have you had a look at Charlie Brear? I got mine second hand online for about £500. No-one knew it was secondhand and I loved it. I had a few bits of customising done on it and felt amazing.
Alternatively I've got this - eloise wedding dress anoushka - in a size 10 totally unaltered and unworn in my wardrobe at home if you'd like it Smile
Your wedding dress is so important. I hope you find the right one.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 10/10/2017 07:21

That Monsoon one looks amazing. I hope it suits you OP.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 10/10/2017 07:24

We need a picture when it arrives!

presentcontinuous · 10/10/2017 10:14

I love this one too so it's gone in the basket

And DD heartily approves ...

Back with pics later!

Both of those Monsoon ones are stunning, enjoy trying them on!

SindyFishtail · 10/10/2017 11:21

I love your wedding dress style OP. Very elegant. My two sisters wore monsoon wedding dresses and they were beautifully made. Good luck Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/10/2017 11:32

My sister had a monsoon dress when she got married and it was stunning. Was nearly 20 years ago but hasn't dated at all.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 10/10/2017 12:04

I personally prefer there one you initially picked but they’re all nice Smile congrats OP!Flowers

presentcontinuous · 10/10/2017 13:08

Thank you!

I can totally see why so many of you like the first Ghost one. But you'd be amazed how little like the picture it looked (and felt) on me. Honestly despite it's elegance i felt quite frumpy in it!

It's fun though, this dress lark (smile)
