I think Dior and Chanel are.

Dior foundation was rubbish and my Chanel lipstick has no staying power and ends up everywhere.

What brands do you think are overrated?

Vintage I get frustrated because if you don't use a product for what it's intended for then slate it on a social forum it's a bit silly, It makes you look like a bit of a fool!

Had 2 Chanel lipsticks and hated them. My present one is very nice though! Did not like the foundation either. Have not ried the eyeshadows but touch them in a shop and they felt talcy and dry. Prefer Dior eyeshadows and foundation and love the lipsticks! I tried one mascara from Dior but it wasn't waterproof (was in a gift set) so not sure if others are good. Don't tend to damn a whole brand.

Chanel's Mystic Eyes is/was a beautiful quad!

MumBod · 05/10/2017 19:17

Estée Lauder. Everything seems very oily and heavy and highly scented. The only brand to give me allergic reactions.

Lancôme is far too heavily scented.

Clarins also very smelly and harsh. A bit 80s.

InTheRoseGarden · 05/10/2017 19:35

Oh gosh yes Molton Brown. Nothing special about it at all (except the price!).

BusterGonad · 05/10/2017 19:40

I'm quite under whelmed by Mac, I'm a real lover of scent, packaging and obviously a good product but I just find Mac stuff good but not overwhelming!

hollygolipo · 05/10/2017 19:45

Yes to Mac and Charlotte Tilbury. Aveda shampoos are also highly over-rated in my opinion though they smell nice. Hush clothes are over-priced for the quality as well ... Ditto Superdry.

Thebluedog · 05/10/2017 19:49

Another one for aveda hair care

Can we do clothes too? Biden is one for me, I just don't get it Shock

margaritasbythesea · 05/10/2017 19:52

I have sworn never to buy Mint Velvet again. I like their things buy they are very expensive and have worn to rags in no time.

MrsPestilence · 05/10/2017 19:55

Aveeda Sap Moss and Detoxifier were great, and then they were bought out, and discontinued their two best products Sad

Love Chanel aqualumiere foundation, and mascara, agree hate the nail polish, but love the colours.
Dior mascara was rubbish. Clinique skincare is awful. Clarins make up is not so good, but skin care is fab especially the oils.
Maybeline mascara is absolutely useless. Used to be good years ago, recently tried the pink tube again and was disappointed. Although I may have been spoiled by Chanel.
I like Mac lipstick, and the foundation is ok, especially the shade matching (NC30 for me), but it just seems to wear off so quickly.
Used to hate Estee Lauder DW, but tried it again and it seems to suit my skin now.

Hush dresses transform into stained string dishcloths after the first light handwash, imo. Droopy greige shit, ewww.

Chanel nail varnish is a joke but the lipsticks are wondrous.

Runthejewels · 05/10/2017 23:06

Yes to Molton brown, think the shower gel is pretty rubbish, emperor's New clothes springs to mind.

Bought lancome mascara and eye liner a few weeks ago and gave me panda eyes, my loreal one does a better job. Also didn't rate the benefit roller mascara, I must have sweaty eyes!

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 05/10/2017 23:41

Agree about Nails Inc nail polish. It chips and peels dreadfully. Benefit eyeshadows - felt like coarse sand being dragged across my eyelids.
The only foundation I find works for me is good old Max Factor colour adapt. I mix it with my moisturiser and it gives me a lively sheer tint, rather than a heavy 'just been tangoed ' look. L'Oreal or Bourjois mascaras work best for me. I've tried many others but have always been completely underwhelmed by them.
