Please find me a dress for a posh wedding

that is either 'traditional' guest or quirky.

I'm so stuck because I have put up weight and have gone from an eight to a ten and am now a size 12. I don't even know what I'd like but all I can find are bodycon dresses or wide skirted dresses (both make my hips and stomach look huge and round). I'd love a dress that looks sophisticated (no florals) like Meghan Markle sometimes wears), cap sleeves would be great.

Abi in EastEnders was wearing a lovely dress in tonight's funeral scene which is a style I really like if anybody watches EE.

Can anybody please help?

Budget?

Theycalledmethewildrose · 22/09/2017 23:51

Oh gosh at this stage of desperation probably up to 120 but preferably under 100.

Apologies for the bad typing. My children seem to have poured something over my keyboard and every key is jamming.

If you are fairly short, you could try Precis Petite. I recently got a really lovely dress in the sale. And Monsoon has a half price sale on

Most of my wardrobe is Cos but I can't find any dresses suitable for a wedding on it. Any of the others could be worn to worn and I really want something dressier. There is one that has pleats near the bottom. By the time I had it altered , the pleats would have disappeared!

Oh I hadn't seen your link when I posted mine!

Theycalledmethewildrose · 23/09/2017 00:07

I'm unsure about Phase 8. I think I like the dress I initially linked because the higher neckline made it look more interesting. The cut around chest area is not for me however!

I'm sounding incredibly ungrateful which is not my intention. I think I'm really unsure what I want and therefore can't locate it. I'm hoping that something will jump out at me!

It's okay - i've been there!

What about this in terms of a bit quirky?

Ah ignore that - it's all sold out :(

I think Abby was wearing a dress from chichi clothing? If not, it was pretty similar to this right?

Thank you for all the links!
I have been admiring that chichi dress earlier this week. I thought Abi's one wasn't as full skirted but yes definitely similar.

What colour do you want? Are you after a high neck in particular?

A fitted dress that isn't body con might work, like this

Thank you for all the links. I appreciate them and all the time you have spent helping.

Could I ask your opinions on the dress style I linked. Does it look cheap? I would keep it quite simple with high heels and a clutch. Jewellery would be small earrings and a bracelet

OP posts:
Skyllo30 · 23/09/2017 16:25

The style doesn't look cheap but you need a bit of height to carry it off. I'm 5ft3, size 10 with big boobs and hips and that style looks awful on me.

I second Chi Chi London, I have a couple of their full skirted dresses and love them. I thought the midi length would make me look short but they don't. They look a lot more expensive than they are.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 23/09/2017 16:33

Sky Have you tried the style of ChiChi linked by Pug?

I think a full skirted dress would make my hips look enormous.

OP posts:
Theycalledmethewildrose · 23/09/2017 16:43

And just one more question. Does anyone know what the sizing of ChiChi is like? Big/small or true to size? Thank you.

OP posts:
cannotmakemymindup · 23/09/2017 16:48

Chichi I would say is a bit big, but that does depend on bust. I am a size 10 top (small chested) and a 12-14 in most shops bottom half but I find a size 10 Chichi dress is a good size. The joy of Asos though is you can order both sizes and send one back for free, so glad they do Chichi!
