I feel that MN has an opinion on Hotter shoes but I can't remember what it is

Is it that they are for old ladies?

I bought some shoes earlier this year that MN said were for primary school teachers, so I don't mind that. :o

Just wanted to check if there was some common knowledge on quality/fit/etc

What do you think of these boots?

Those long brown boots look great.

I have my LONG pair of boots so I'm looking for some not-quite-so-long boots, otherwise I would be hoping they were still available to buy.

Being 30 is not relevant.

People of any age can choose any shoe.

People of any age can decide that comfort is most important to them.

People of any age can be idiots decide that hurty shoes are somehow "worth it" if they look pretty.

The long ones are the best pair of shoes I've ever owned. They were a birthday gift from my mum and I lived in them from about October-March last year. They've come out of the cupboard this week for this winter. I think they'll definitely last at least this winter if not one more.

TheFaerieQueene · 19/09/2017 18:22

Oh no. I clicked on the OP link and now the adverts I'm getting are making my eyes bleed. I don't like hotter shoes. Please hotter stop sending me your adverts. 😱

Trills · 19/09/2017 18:22

OMG Dumbledore I think I have found your boots and they come in PURPLE

(as in "when I am old I shall wear..." of course)

They are not what I am looking for right now at all but I want them

I have a gorgeous pair of suede boots from Hotter. Stylish friends who ordinarily wouldn't be seen dead in Hotter boots have complimented me on them.

I am not stylish but fwiw I like those boots and my (stylish) DM has the ankle version and says they are v comfy.

Ps my current favourite flat boots come from Gabor, are the most comfy I have ever had and have again been admired by actually stylish people!

DumbledoresApprentice · 19/09/2017 18:24

That is true. I'd rather shop in "old lady" shops than spend 10 hours a day on my feet in shoes that hurt. My grandmother told me to always buy comfy shoes and a good mattress because life is too short to spend hours of every day uncomfortable.

Paintbox · 19/09/2017 18:25

Taste varies so much. If you like them op then that's all that matters. Fly London are recommended all the time on here as being stylish but I hate them with an unbelievable passion! Tastes are different

Comedyusername · 19/09/2017 18:26

My unfashionable mil shops at Hotter Grin.
Sorry - not for me. I do go for comfort, but I'd prefer Clarks, or in an alternate universe where I have unlimited funds, Russell & Bromley.

BuzzKillington · 19/09/2017 18:29

Those boots in the first link are just saggy and baggy and horrid.

I am sure they're very comfortable though.

Trills · 19/09/2017 18:34

To be fair to the saggyness and baggyness, I searched for "slouch boots" to find them.

I am 39 and have two pairs of Mystery boots. I walk a lot on the school run and between sites for work, and they are great. I have wide feet and wear insoles and these are the comfiest boots I've found. Plus others have commented positively on them, so I'm quite happy. Loathe the green colour they have introduced this year though.

PlectrumElectrum · 19/09/2017 18:45

I have those boots OP, in brown suede and they are fabulous. I may be biased but they look fab on. I was intending on getting them in black but the brown suede just edged it. They are amazingly comfortable.

I've also bought clarks boots which were hideous but remain unsurpassed in comfort. I didn't give a toss how ridiculous I looked because they were singularly the most comfy footwear I've ever worn.

I'm 44 so not young or fashionable. Never was actually Grin

FloatingCamel · 19/09/2017 18:57

Oh I had some boots like that and they were so comfortable! Till they wore out after constant use. These are on my wish list, thanks op.

Thethreegraces · 19/09/2017 21:21

Any of these

Squ1ggle · 19/09/2017 21:22

I have a pair of lovely brown ankle boots from hotter (very similar to the long boots linked up thread but ankle length) and they look good and are comfy. I've seen fly London boots suggested on here a lot and I honestly think they are horrible which just goes to show that everyone has different tastes and you should just buy what you love (particularly if they're comfy too). Oh and I'm 31 so not collecting my pension just yet Wink

Squashit · 19/09/2017 23:55

Comfy shoes brands that look quirky/cool are Fly London, El naturalista, Art Company, Softinos and Moshulu.

If you buy the Mes 3 they are definitely wide both foot width and calf wise. Waterproof too.

Trills · 20/09/2017 09:39

How can Fly London possibly look "quirky" when I've heard them recommended on here for the last 5 years every time someone said the word "boots"? They look nice, but in no way quirky.

OP posts:
TollgateDebs · 20/09/2017 10:04

I have shoes from a variety of shops, including a pair from Hotter. I have seen good, bad, downright ugly and bloody uncomfortable shoes in all shops, whether regarded as trendy / cheap / old fashioned or not. Buy what you like and what suits and makes you feel good and ignore what is in and not!

Trills · 20/09/2017 10:18

I have seen good, bad, downright ugly and bloody uncomfortable shoes in all shops

I agree

OP posts:
Trills · 20/09/2017 10:19

I've ordered the ones in the OP and also @DumbledoresApprentice 's long brown boots (but in purple).

Fully ready to return them if I am in any way unsure when they show up for real.

Bring on autumn!

OP posts:
Squashit · 20/09/2017 10:21

In your opinion, maybe Trills but to others they are quirky compared to a lot of stuff available especially if you are looking at Hotter as your base point.

Squashit · 20/09/2017 10:23

The Hotter ones are grim OP.

iseenodust · 20/09/2017 10:25

I don't need boots but I want the purple ones too. Off to work on justifications.

Trills · 20/09/2017 10:33

All of the Fly London bots I have ever seen are very normal-looking boots. That's not a bad thing. But they are just boots.
