have failed to buy wedding outfit in large town due to small racks and sticky-outy child's wheelchair

now I have a small topshop, a small monsoon and a small next to go in

I wanted to get something very bright and funky that I could also wear to dad's retirement party (his kids are in their 20s and will be bringing glam girlfriends)

am short. am hour-glass without the norks. I have black pointy shoes and some red little slipper type things

Is it your wedding? If so, you're cutting it fine......

Y0rkshirelass · 04/04/2007 13:39

Go after the lunchtime rush and beg, plead and wail at the kindest-looking shop assistants to help you out.

JackieNo · 04/04/2007 13:39

OK - how about this ? Good for the norkularly challenged, as long as you're OK about your arms. Not sure it will make the most of your curves though. But will go with pointy black shoes, and easy to get a jacket to go with it. (might also fail on the 'funky' front).

littleEasterlapin · 04/04/2007 13:39

A monsoon dress

Or this one - again, maybe more elegant than funky. I like Littlelapin's link, though not sure if it's good for the smaller of nork. Might be fine.

Cappuccino · 04/04/2007 13:42

oh mi yes, tomorrow

I spent last week traipsing round East Finchley remember?

nice coffee place but no damn shops

MrsBadger · 04/04/2007 13:42

Monsoon will be your saviour
don't want to recommend anything of the website in case they don't have it in your shop

just go there, try on the 3 nicest-looking dresses they have and buy the best one.

littleEasterlapin · 04/04/2007 13:43

my link plus a good bra (you need that one Paris Hilton has! )

Cappuccino · 04/04/2007 13:43

can I get away with separates?

I tried on a red dress in monsoon but dd1 very seriously shook her head

OP posts:
littleEasterlapin · 04/04/2007 13:46

totally. patterned skirt, pick up a colour for the top, black cardi, black shoes.

Our Monsoon is DIDDY but there are still some gorgeous things in there.

I SO need to go shopping now!

Cappuccino · 04/04/2007 13:46

little lapin that sounds good

I don't need Paris Hilton's bra for that look do I?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 04/04/2007 13:47

oh yes, separates v acceptable
still Monsoon though

motherinferior · 04/04/2007 13:47

Damn, there's a frock in Topshop but we're past the noon cutoff for express delivery

littleEasterlapin · 04/04/2007 13:48

Not at all . Get a top you know is a good shape for you - a silky t-shirt, or maybe even a nice cotton shirt - and team with a pretty pretty skirt. Take the cardi in case it is cold.

Now, what about your hat?!

Cappuccino · 04/04/2007 13:48

and MrsB you are so right about monsoon

it will save me

once I've ditched the children

there were some nice things in Wallis btw (I glimpsed them from afar as I tried to wedge myself round Debenhams)

do we like orange?

OP posts:
NoodleStroodle · 04/04/2007 13:49

Cappucino - also don't take fashion advice from DD1 (how old?)!

littleEasterlapin · 04/04/2007 13:49

Orange very much depends on your colouring... do you have olivey mediterranean skin? Could look nice... would look vile on pale and gingery me

Cappuccino · 04/04/2007 13:49

HAT?!?

no I really don't think I have those kind of friends

OP posts:
oliveoil · 04/04/2007 13:49

top shop fab for bright and funky

monsoon not so imo (or from what I have seen)

motherinferior · 04/04/2007 13:49
