Short summery dress, pretty cardi, matching shoes and handbag? Maybe a bit Lily Allen style even?
Plain wide-legged trouser suit with coloured vest top underneath and shoes and handbag to match that?
Long plain shortsleeved/sleeveless dress with a lowslung hip belt. Suit-type jacket for daytime.

Don't wear a hat if you're taking the kids with you, it will be a burden. If no kids go hat crazy!
Shoes: could get away with smart gold/silver flipflops or sandals with the last 2. Strappy heels or ballet pumps for the first one.

What's your budget, and what sort of clothes would you normally wear? Which bits of yourself do you like to show off, and which do you want to hide? This is pretty, with a cardigan or jacket.

dress and shoes ???

KristinaM · 02/04/2007 21:13

oh buckets you are good

JackieNo · 02/04/2007 21:17

This one's nice too and would go with the red M&S shoes from the previous link.

lornaloo · 02/04/2007 21:26

Its a tough one really. Im quite flat chested so most dresses drench me abit. I tried on a few on the weekend but no luck. I need something whether its a dress trousers or skirt thats fitted around the hips.
I like the idea of a trouser outfit or skirt top combo but I kind of get the idea trousers arnt "the done thing"?? Am I wrong?

I really like the dresses you linked to but that shapes quite unflattering on me...

I think trouser suits are fine. Agree the shapes I linked to wouldn't be the most flattering on you - hang on, will look again.

Leoness · 02/04/2007 21:30

Check out Madonna's collection at Hennes for trouser top combo.

EllieKthePA · 02/04/2007 21:31

i think a smart trouser suit looks good at a wedding, so long as it's not too 'work-like'

lornaloo · 02/04/2007 21:32

Oh good trousers it is then...lets get looking...

How about something like this shape - though that one's pretty expensive. Maybe with a neater skirt, like this one ?

JackieNo · 02/04/2007 21:33

X-ost. Will switch to trouser suits.

lornaloo · 02/04/2007 21:35

I like the cut of the second one. Pencil skirts are good on me...I think .

lornaloo · 02/04/2007 21:35

trouser suits or Pencil skirts...

OP posts:
lornaloo · 02/04/2007 21:35

I like both

Principles have some nice ones - in cream, and in chocolate.

JackieNo · 02/04/2007 21:36

Trousers and pencil skirts.

Leoness · 02/04/2007 21:37

Definately go to hennes and see Madonna's stuff

Bucketsofdynomite · 02/04/2007 21:38

Long dress
under jacket like this one (always useful) with either bronze leather belt or metal chainy one with a hangy downy bit medieval style.
Plain wide brimmed hat in neutral colour and bronze leather flipflops.
Whaddayathink?

JackieNo · 02/04/2007 21:39

Not convinced about flipflops for a wedding, bucketsofdynamite - especially as it's only next week. Not sure what the weather forecast is though.
