Trying out 'The Ordinary'. How on earth...

Do you decipher what regimen to buy?!

I see they have a little bit of advice depending on what results you want but its not very in-depth.

So, I've ordered the buffet as that seems to be the 'to go to' item. For those of you who use this range, how did you work out your regimen? I'm in my thirties, combo-oily skin. Always stressed out and it shows on my face argh.

Help!

There's one in Spitalfields too.

WeSailTonightForSingapore · 28/08/2017 20:02

I follow the same regime as Era, and have a spf50 (Claris daily protection). A few times a week I will use the vitamin c instead of retinol.

In fact, on that note, does anyone know how you are meant to use vit c if you are using retinol already?

Can you tell me more about the Hada Labo hyaluronic acids please, pps? I had a look on Amazon but can only find the lotion, not a serum?

Oh awesome im going to london at the end of September

I may get some basics as i will probably walk in there and panic

bakedbeansandtuna · 28/08/2017 20:17

I feel like I've wandered into an alternative universe! I've always had shit skin and gave up on it years ago, I literally have no idea what you're all talking about and now I feel like I want to!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/08/2017 20:28

Spending a fortune

I do love a nice potion Grin

On that victora health website it said

AM – Cleanse, NIOD SDSM and CAIS (if you use them) or hydrating toner,

What is the NIOD SDSM and CAIS bit mean?

Sorry to be a pain...

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/08/2017 20:28

bad

Ive got no clue either

Fun isnt it Grin

WeSailTonightForSingapore · 28/08/2017 20:38

Rufus, NIOD is the other brand of skincare made by Deciem, the company behind The Ordinary. I think there are some products from the two ranges you are not meant to use together or something.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/08/2017 20:51

Thanks wesail

So cleanse , tone and all the other bits

Coolio

SylviaPoe · 28/08/2017 21:07

I am going to have to try this out slowly because it seems massively confusing. I'm going to stick to the same cleanser and toner I am already using and then introduce some of the other things slowly.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 21:13

But you could replace that toner with a decent acid exfoliant Grin

SylviaPoe · 28/08/2017 21:15

It is an acid toner - glycolic!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/08/2017 21:18

I had about 7 things in my basket and they have gone Smile

Will do it again tomorrow

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 21:28

Ooooo, which one Sylvia?

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 21:45

I used that one tonight!!! The glycolic, not the toner.

I am just getting to the bottom of the bottle, it smells gorgeous when you use it too.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 21:46

How long do you leave it on for?

SylviaPoe · 28/08/2017 22:05

5 mins. I have such a variety of those exfoliators. I need to use the others more often.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 22:18

Same here, I have lots of acids but I really like the Bravura one.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 22:19

I leave this one on for ages as it's gentle but effective.

SylviaPoe · 28/08/2017 22:25

How long? And how long between washing your face and applying the glycolic do you leave?

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 22:30

I cleanse, then when my face is dry apply the glycolic, then forget. I left it on for over 30 minutes today,.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 22:32

I have a low ph toner I use before, a Mizon one, but I like the look of the Bravura ones.

smudgedlipstick · 28/08/2017 22:38

Love the ordinary!! I have combo very sensitive skin with stress related acne 😰 so it's fun trying to ever find something that some strip my skin, but doesn't egg on the acne - my skin scars very easily so even on days where my skin is relatively clear, my face is covered in red scars. My routine is:

  • Buffet first morning and night, it seems to have everything in it and I find it does add moisture, although not quite enough for my skin when it is behaving itself.
  • then niocimide I think that's how it's spelt, to tackle the acne and scars, every morning and evening.
  • then 2% retinoid which is for anti aging and scars and fine lines. You only put this on at night. I find this one excellent, I have a few fine likes and frown lines on my forehead and they have visilbly reduced since using this.
DaveDave · 28/08/2017 22:51

I love The Ordinary products too! Still learning (from this forum) how to put them all together. Also got Pixi Peel and Glow which I love.

Does anyone use fake tan too? I can't go without my gradual tanner as am so pasty, but not sure how to integrate it. Or is it's waste, will these products just strip it out anyway?
