Trying out 'The Ordinary'. How on earth...

Do you decipher what regimen to buy?!

I see they have a little bit of advice depending on what results you want but its not very in-depth.

So, I've ordered the buffet as that seems to be the 'to go to' item. For those of you who use this range, how did you work out your regimen? I'm in my thirties, combo-oily skin. Always stressed out and it shows on my face argh.

Help!

I use the nip + fab pads as my acid after double cleansing. I love all three, but the extreme glycolic ones are my favourite. I have rosacea, and they visibly smooth the skin, i feel so fresh after use.
They sound harsh, but there is not even a tingle after use. I use daily, and even use with the Ordinary's 2% retinoid.
My pores have reduced, and the cystic acne flare up I had at the start of the year has disappeared, with the hyperpigmentation fading.

I also love Cosrx BHA blackhead power serum, an ultra moisturizing acid serum. It's not so easy to get at the moment, so I've been using the Ordinary's niacinamide serum instead.
Using acids and retinoid have changed my skin for the better without a doubt.

30 mins, Spartacus! Clearly I need to be bolder.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 28/08/2017 23:27

It won't do any harm SylviaPoe, just listen to your skin, in a horse whispery stylee.

I found this really useful when I started looking at TO products. They're about to add more products, some of them are:

Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane (Moderate Strength, No Irritation)

Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane (High Strength, No to Low Irritation)

Retinol 0.2% in Squalane (Low Strength, Moderate Irritation)

Retinol 0.5% in Squalane (Moderate Strength, High Irritation)

Retinol 1% in Squalane (High Strength, Very High Irritation)

They've also got other products which I don't understand yet - but the one with Revasterol sounds interesting.

Those sheet masks looks great, you read my mind as I was looking at some to try!

Along with La Roche Posay's Anthelios range, another sunscreen that's recommended a lot, like the Biore, is Nivea Sun Protect Aqua Gel SPF 50 PA+++ which is apparently a water gel so it goes on very easily with no white cast.

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2017 01:34

Meant to add that Gothamista on YouTube does great reviews on some of The Ordinary products.

Azelaic Acid is one thing that always seems to get positive reviews on the FB group, although she didn't like it!

There's also a lady who posts her progress on Instagram www.instagram.com/ScarletsFace/

I got the hydruloic acid too. I have enough to get started 👍🏻 - it's quite reasonable in price too ! 👍🏻

Those before and after photos are awesome bagel

Will go back and put more stuff in my basket

EraArils · 29/08/2017 15:35

I bought 2 more things this morning; Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. I don't really need the moisturiser but thought i'd give it a go. It'll be great if it works out as it'll be a saving of £20 against my current moisturiser.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/08/2017 15:45

Right have ordered this

Will cleanse with hot cloth and oil

Need toner and sun protection

Trying out 'The Ordinary'. How on earth...
Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/08/2017 15:46

Any other hints and tips

I will follow the regime obviously

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2017 19:33

Looks like a good basket. Those pictures are impressive, aren't they?

She found that the Niacinamide was breaking her out, so discontinued use after a few weeks. It seems to be a Marmite product, either it works really well or it breaks people out. It's a pity that they don't do a 5% version, which would be a bit gentler. She's posted her routine, so you can see what she uses.

You know not to blast in with the 2% Retinoid every night, right? Use once a week and build up to 2-3 times a week, well moisturise afterwards.

A couple of ppl have bought the EUK and Rev+F, so are going to be the guinea pigs and report back.

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2017 19:35

This is really helpful too.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/08/2017 20:08

Thanks for the advise bagel

I've book marked that link

Very excited ...must buy the sun stuff and toner

mowgeli · 29/08/2017 21:16

Are they good? I'm obsessed with Dermalogica and I think these are strong contenders?

BagelGoesWalking · 29/08/2017 23:12

Join the Ordinary fb group - there's lots of info in the Files section m.facebook.com/groups/1152773461498024 There's also an associated Deciem Addicts group.

Some really good people on there who seem to know their stuff:

Lorna Stead, Tim Highsted and Cristina Tacaciu.

Like a pp I also feel like I've walked into an alternative universe that I knew nothing about but now desperately want to be part of.... but...... I'm scared.

I'm 40. Have had rosacea for 15 years. It used to be dreadful until I got a hold on it with antibiotics and avene products. Any time I've veered away from Avene and almond oil my skin seems to get irritated.

I'm at the age where I feel I'd like to add anti ageing products but I'm scared it will catapult my now calm skin back into an irritated frenzy.

Theconifers25 · 20/09/2017 21:45

The azelic acid is decent for rosacea pustules

goblinhob · 20/09/2017 21:47

Shameless placemark

zippyswife · 20/09/2017 22:09

I don't understand why the acid wouldn't send rosacea/sensitive skin into a frenzy? Sorry- I'm probably sounding really stupid!

InigoTaran · 20/09/2017 23:58

What a great thread! Placemarking so I can read laterSmile

nigelsbigface · 27/09/2017 22:22

I've just bought the caffeine stuff, the buffet and the moisturiser with HA...
Thought that would do for AM routine... or do I need separate hyraluonic? what would everyone recommend for night....
I have normal but dull skin, very dark circles, and more lines than I should have at 37...

ProjectGainsborough · 27/09/2017 22:38

The aha peel that the instagram lady posted - is it red or is her face bleeding? And why, reading that back do I find myself really wanting to get some?

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 27/09/2017 23:03

I bought shedloads of this stuff

I started using it on the 1st of September and so far im pleased

Off to london for the day and im very excited as im going to the actual shop

I have my new wish list

UtahGirl12 · 28/09/2017 21:44

I've always had terrible skin, rosacea and hormonal acne, plus it just never looked dewey. I'm 49 now and my skin now looks a lot better since I've been using La Roche Posay Effacleur facial wash, then the matching toner, then Nip Fab Dragon blood (which I think is hyraluonic) then La Roche Posay Effacleur mosituriser. So, my skin looks better, but I'm wondering now if it could look even better if I added in some of the mysterious sounding things in this thread? Maybe Retinoid?? Any suggestions??
