I can't find anything in silver. I don't want white gold.

I think you'll tend to find that gemstones like diamonds and sapphires aren't commonly set in a "cheaper" metal like sterling silver, unless you went bespoke.

Why do you want silver btw? Personally, I dislike how easily it dents and tarnishes. I still have plenty of silver things, but it's more high maintenance than white gold or platinum.

UnicornGlitterTheBaneOfMyLife · 24/08/2017 20:59

Because I can't afford platinum and I don't like white gold, it yellows.

It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive. She just likes blue and black stones

You don't tend to find silver engagement or wedding rings because it is quite a soft metal that likely won't stand up to a lifetime's wear and tear. What about titanium or niobium? They are silvery coloured metals at the cheaper end of the scale, harder wearing than silver and most people can wear them without allergies.

I love black diamonds too and dream of owning a solitaire in white metal - I'd love to see what you choose in the end!

I advise you to look for your own ring designer - a good one will give you a selection of stones. Find one that works from home to keep overheads down. I did and my ring cost half the price it would have cost in a shop.

UnicornGlitterTheBaneOfMyLife · 24/08/2017 21:11

I'll try that. Thanks

Get an antique ring, do you have a budget?

DandelionAndBedrock · 24/08/2017 21:13

I would go bespoke, but Alexis Dove has some set in palladium - would that work?

Oly5 · 24/08/2017 21:13

You can get white gold replated in white fairly often

indigox · 24/08/2017 21:14

Just get it replated when it yellows?

StayGoldPonyBoy · 24/08/2017 21:14

Have a look on Etsy at a seller called TheAladdinsCave. His pieces are gorgeous and he does a lot in silver or titanium. They're very simple and classic but I like that, they look clean.

EraArils · 24/08/2017 21:14

This is a lovely vintage design and it has a black sapphire. Silver and black sapphire ring.

UnicornGlitterTheBaneOfMyLife · 24/08/2017 21:16

Sorry these are all way over my budget Blush

I don't have much money at the moment. It's more the gesture than the ring. She understands.

Era I would love that but she's much more understated. She likes plain.

DandelionAndBedrock · 24/08/2017 21:17

Of course it's the gesture Smile.

Would you be happy to share your budget with us?

UnicornGlitterTheBaneOfMyLife · 24/08/2017 21:22

I can go to about 500. I know that's small change to a lot of MNers but I know I can get something she will like for that.

is this what you are looking for? I love sapphires so I'm shopping by proxy.

Squ1ggle · 24/08/2017 21:24

This is something a bit different. Titanium is a great option as it's cheap but much more durable than silver (my husband's wedding ring is titanium) ti2titanium.com/product/deep-groove-4mm-ring/

Squ1ggle · 24/08/2017 21:26

Love this variation too ti2titanium.com/product/wave-groove-4mm-ring/

Onyx jet or spinel would be cheaper?

If you are happy with palladium, Diamond Heaven have quite a few for £500.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 24/08/2017 21:36

Do not buy silver. It will not stand the test of time, it will very quickly become warped, dented etc.

Palladium or titanium are much better choices.
