Dailystuck71 · 19/08/2017 13:15

Do I complain to Boots or Clinique if anyone knows. Thanks.

I think they are technically employed by Clinique so it would be them.

HappyOnMyOwn · 19/08/2017 13:18

Try the manager of the Boots store first. Then see if you get referred to Clinique.

Dailystuck71 · 19/08/2017 15:45

Clinique are dealing with it. Thanks.

What happened?

Dailystuck71 · 19/08/2017 16:12

Just a very rude sales person who then talked about me behind my back, not realising that the man also shopping was my husband when she called me "another bitch looking for a freebie"

Shock
MumBod · 19/08/2017 16:15

Oof. Bet she cringed herself inside out when she realised.

Good on you for complaining.

Josiah · 19/08/2017 16:17

That's disgusting!

Well done for complaining!

RUDE!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/08/2017 16:24

One of my in-laws in-laws (keep up) was on their counter. Does not surprise me at all.

Deathraystare · 19/08/2017 18:25

I can never get freebies .They are always 'out' of them (yeah). I do remember when I worked on a counter (for all of a day - supposed to work all round the store) and the SA invited everyone from the other counters to help themselves to unused lippie testers! Loads there were!

cowgirlsareforever · 19/08/2017 18:29

That's awful. How rude and unprofessional. I hope they listen to you OP.

scaryclown · 19/08/2017 18:30

'its you job to be the freebie hunting bitch' s bitch...GET ME MORE SAMPLES Grin

OlennasWimple · 19/08/2017 18:31

Blimey!

Deathraystare · 19/08/2017 18:48

Some are very nice. I was in France and bought a Helena Rubenstein mascara (shame they no longer sell the range in UK) - I got loads of foundation samples!

Chestervase1 · 19/08/2017 19:04

I love it when you spend a fortune and they say "I will give you some samples" and put one miserly little thing in the bag. Cosmetic companies should do checks to see that samples are being given out. Although at my local John Lewis there is a bowl of samples in the ladies changing room.

Dailystuck71 · 19/08/2017 19:07

Thing is I had an email giving me the freebie. I just had to pick it up. She was a right mardy cow.

Dailystuck71 · 19/08/2017 19:07

And I went in ao to buy take the day off. Needless to say I bought elsewhere.

She was rude and shouldn't have said that.

However re samples - I worked for Clinique for 15 years and there are very strict guidelines about samples. For example with a foundation sample you are expected to sit the customer down and do a full foundation consultation before then giving them a sample after taking their contact details for the data marketing machine...! If the area manager came in and found a drawer completely empty of samples and no new customer records or an increase of sales generally she would be pretty fed up (and I've worked on several counters). You're also supposed to use samples to entice a customer back - so if they buy for example a moisturiser then you'd give a sample of eg foundation as you know they are likely to buy it next time. And so on.

Clinique in particular are like this. I've also worked for Chanel and they are far more generous - although we didn't get as many samples!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/08/2017 19:14

I buy samples on eBay. I'd rather pay than go through the sales patter.

My Estée Lauder anr is only here because the sample worked.

If you could just buy a sample it would be so much easier.

putdownyourphone · 19/08/2017 19:15

FairyLea - they already had her data - she received an email (From someone at the Estée Lauder Companies marketing and CRM team). OP - Clinique will not be happy about this at all and you're very right to complain. Complain to Clinique, not boots.

putdownyourphone · 19/08/2017 19:16

Sorry just to be clear - I am on the ELC marketing team

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2017 19:33

But Fluffy, how do you think the samples end up on Ebay?

It's most likely samples being sold instead of being given free to customers, as it should be.

aayla · 19/08/2017 19:36
Shock What did your husband say to her?
Fluffycloudland77 · 19/08/2017 20:19

Well I assumed the reps stole them to sell on.

I want a sample of another EL serum but I'll wait until one comes up online rather than have to go into a shop on my days off.
