Is it ever OK to wear open toe sandals with tights?

I'm tempted at the moment - it's too chilly for bare legs and I've just bought some really comfy open toe sandal - wedge type things.

Am utterly unfashionable but want to know if I'd get sniggered at by you lot (you lot being my marker for what all the trendy girlies at work will really be thinking...).

littleEasterlapin · 28/03/2007 16:05

Fake tan. Ignore the cold. Il faut souffrir pour etre belle!

MrsBadger · 28/03/2007 16:09

these are your toes in 'open toed tights"

don't go there.

kimiTheEasterBunny · 28/03/2007 16:10

Only if you are my mom!

FairyChocolateDragonsEgg · 28/03/2007 16:11

I would never profess to be a 'Fashionista' (FAR, FAR from it) but please love, don't do that to yourself!!

Tinker · 28/03/2007 16:13

Oooo, not nice

Tinker · 28/03/2007 16:13

Scared of fake tan hence summer = linen pants for me

ceolas · 28/03/2007 16:15

...and I am clueless. Don't do it!

littleEasterlapin · 28/03/2007 16:15

LOL, MrsBadger!

WotzsanEgg · 28/03/2007 16:15

I stay away from style threads but even I know this is no no

MrsBadger · 28/03/2007 16:17

tinker
get Rimmel Sun Shimmer Makeup For Legs or similar

like fake tan but washes off with soap and water if you make a bish so no risk of looking silly.
v good for one-off parties etc or perking up pasty legs till tan appears.

MrsBadger · 28/03/2007 16:18

NB I was not kidding with that pic, it's the closeup from the M&S page littlelapin linked to.

littleEasterlapin · 28/03/2007 16:19

I do actually wear them sometimes cos I have legs the colour of, well, white things. Don't take your shoes off, no-one need know

God how middle aged! Of course you can wear tights with peep-toe shoes, they just have to be fishnets or opaque. But in contrasting colours (eg not black tights and black shoes...but then I do occasionally wear a pair of sparkly black sandals with black opaques). Make it look as though you meant to do it though or you will look horrific, eg flesh coloured tights (puke anyway) and toes = bleeugh.

Be warned, wearing shoes this way makes your legs look shorter - but it does show off fab shoes really nicely.

Tinker · 28/03/2007 16:26

or perking up pasty legs till tan appears - I dream of tan appearing

Actually, think opaques with peep-toes could look great as long as bold colours - red and purple, for instance

MrsBadger · 28/03/2007 16:28

get St Tropezed at a decent place and top up with Johnsons Holiday Skin or something
you will be able to wear skirts all summer and your life will change

overdraft · 28/03/2007 16:30

Black tights with white sandles is a good look

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/03/2007 16:30

No Dotty no! Am not Mrs. Trendy myself either but.... [rendered speechless].. step away from the tights!!!

littleEasterlapin · 28/03/2007 16:30

I went orange with St Tropez... AND Clarins ... just don;t think I have the skin for it ... oh well, I don;t have the OP's issue anyway (slips Crocs on)

NineUnlikelyTales · 28/03/2007 16:33

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/03/2007 16:45

Better still than black tights/white sandles is..... american tan tights with toe-post-flipflops!! What a look!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/03/2007 16:45

(*sandals!)

GibbonInARibbon · 28/03/2007 16:49

not unless you've had a taste bypass

Dottydot · 28/03/2007 19:08

you lot are so funny! Moondog - I would love you to judge my dodgy shoes but I can't find a link. Is it enough to say that I bought them from Tesco's yesterday?!

They are cheap and cheerful but I don't care because it's the first time in living history I've been able to buy and get into a size 8 - I usually have to buy 9's/10's..!

So yes, they're comfy and some would say clumpy, but to me look very petite and delicate!!

OK, OK, I'll put the tights down and resort to waiting for warmer weather and I suppose even shaving my legs...
