I like this color, but is this fine or is it too much like the famous dress?

Oh lord no.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 01/08/2017 21:21

80.00 for that?

I thought by famous dress you meant this:

Famous Dress

HolgerDanske · 01/08/2017 21:25

Tent that's what I thought it was too Grin

MissAlligned · 01/08/2017 21:34

I have no idea what famous dress you're on about

Maybe the sleeves are everso slightly Middleton-esque? But I'm assuming they got that trend from the catwalks and didn't invent it themselves.

Other than that it's a perfectly lovely dress.

Judydreamsofhorses · 01/08/2017 21:37

I think it's fine - I wouldn't pay full price for it though. (I assume no-one actually does with Biden?)

Dragonflycushion · 01/08/2017 21:39

The famous dress is burned into the brains of those who've seen it so even though that one is much much better, it'll be haunted by the famous dress forever.

MissAlligned · 01/08/2017 21:52

Do only people of a certain age over 50 know about this other famous dress?

Namechanger2015 · 01/08/2017 21:56

I'm thinking of Monica Lewinsky's dress with the stain. Am I wrong?

Dragonflycushion · 01/08/2017 21:57

Nope. There have been MN threads about it recently with brave MNers trying it on and taking selfies.

Autumnchill · 01/08/2017 21:58

First one I thought off too was Liz Hurley's Safety Pins!

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 01/08/2017 23:27

I'm another one who thought of the Liz Hurley dress.

ImperialBlether · 01/08/2017 23:30

No, the famous dress was the pink M&S one with the weird big sleeves, wasn't it?

Want2beme · 01/08/2017 23:36

I like the dark version but not the pink one.

MaisieDotes · 01/08/2017 23:38

No it is not ok.

I also thought Liz Hurley at first.

pickledparsnip · 02/08/2017 01:12

I immediately thought of the M&S dress (I'm 33).

Uhm can someone please explain to me why Boden is so fucking expensive?

HoneyDragon · 02/08/2017 01:40

You're paying for the privilege of delusions of Boden. By buying a product you become the sort of person who does not go on a holiday, but holidays instead. You look like the sort of person that knows what the pointy end of a boat is called. And your children develop the ability to pay cricket on a beach in a tutu and wellies.

Floisme · 02/08/2017 07:28

It's really cheered me up to hear there's a corner of Style and Beauty where no-one ever talks about The M&S Pink Dress. (Admittedly I'm one of the guilty ones.)

I think this one looks better - nicer shade of pink a bit of structure.

No-one pays full price for Boden.

MissAlligned · 02/08/2017 08:05

Boden is expensive because a) no one in their right mind buys from them without at least a 15% discount (usually 20%) and, b) they are very good quality garments.

I have a beautiful tweed blazer from Boden that was probably priced at £90-£110 and bought with a 20% off code so will have cost me £70-£90. I think it was exceptionally good value for money. The fabric, cut and styling are much better than I could get from any of the labels carried at House of Fraser for example.

And Honey is talking absolute rubbish. The fact I know my stern from my bow and my starboard from my port has nothing to do with what I wear. Obviously.

burnishedsilver · 02/08/2017 08:15

It's reminiscent of this

WomblingThree · 02/08/2017 08:25

I've recently discovered Boden, and I love their dresses. They are lovely quality fabrics, and there's no way I could make something that well for the price. Big but though....I never pay more than £10 per item on eBay.

JohnnyUtahsWetsuit · 02/08/2017 08:33

I was in M&S the other day and, as predicted, there was a rail full of the pink dress in the last dregs of the sale.

il0vew1ne · 02/08/2017 08:40

the pink M & S one

AdelicaArundel · 02/08/2017 08:54

Immediately brought to mind the only famous on MN other pink dress.
Umm, I think it's ok ...where are you thinking of wearing it? Laughingly in a little café in Caracssone...or in work at a branch office?

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 02/08/2017 10:23

I think the pink M & S dress is infamous rather than famous though.
