Every day silver necklace

I am looking for a simple silver necklace to wear everyday and I'm struggling to find the right one. I used to have a russian ring style one from DH but I can't find it. :( I know that I don't want anything with a creature/specific object on it (ie no bees, birds, boats, feathers, pineapples etc) and nothing personalised with the names/initials/fingerprints etc of my children. Something which sits nicely on the neckline so 16" chain probably, no long pendants and nothing too in your face. That said, I would like it to be a little bit quirky/interesting and not Tiffany or a more classic style such as hammered silver rings etc. I've looked at all the local jewellery makers round where I live and nothing is grabbing. Can anyone recommend anything simple but striking? My dress sense is a bit mum uniform of Boden/Joules/SeaSalt type Breton top and skinny jeans but I run a beach shop and can also quite often be found in shorts and a vest top or a t-shirt dress.

I have just come back from holiday right next door to the Alison Moore studio btw....so many fab jewellery designers on the islands!

BarchesterFlowers · 03/08/2017 22:26

That site is lovely Piff. Lots of things that aren't 'things' which was what the OP was looking for.

I never buy mainstream any more and always look for small designers like these.

GrimDamnFanjo · 06/08/2017 01:04

Some fab suggestions here.

Dancergirl · 06/08/2017 10:55

barchester wow, the Alison Moore stuff is really lovely. I love the orion and nebula pendants, gorgeous and so unusual.

Now, do I NEED another necklace?? Smile

Dancergirl · 06/08/2017 11:10

Forgot about Sheila Fleet - some lovely designs here OP:

sheilafleet.com

Just how many Orkney designers are there??

miffy2 · 06/08/2017 12:32

I know you said no Tiffany but I wear my Elsa Peretti bean on a chain every day without fail. I got it about 18 months ago and it is my favourite day to day piece. Nothing fancy and most people would not know where it was from.

(I see the poster above has mentioned the same thing)

Christine Kaltoft does nice organic looking jewellery. I like her meaty looking ones. christinekaltoft.co.uk/jewellery-collections/sketch-collection/

dancergirl, I have exhausted my wishes at Alison Moore! I really like piff's link and the necklace linked to. I might have to go there next, I really like the round thing with the little boat - stormy seas from memory.

Pigeonpost · 15/08/2017 00:05

I still can't decide!! Have bought a couple of 'statement' necklaces but not my everyday silver one. Alison Moore's organic ones were winning but the link to Christine Kaltoft (sp?) has put the cat amongst the pigeons, her Sketch range is gorgeous!

I have this www.linksoflondon.com/gb-en/essentials-sterling-silver-beaded-chain-45cm/5020-2612.html?cgid=women-necklaces#start=7
As an everyday necklace and love it!

Just an update to say I plumped for the Alison Moore organic egg in the end. I changed the chain as the one which came with it was really fiddly to do up but I'm super pleased. I searched everywhere for my old twisty knot one but couldn't find it. Thank you for all the suggestions.

I searched for this thread for Piff's link.

Pleased you found something you like and are pleased with it Pigeon.

I think I am going to treat myself to something from Zoe Davidson (birthday cash!).

BarchesterFlowers · 12/09/2017 19:14

I think I am going to go for either

this or this not sure I like the chain on the large one.

I also like this but I am not sure it is very me.

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 12/09/2017 19:28

Have a look at Daniella Draper, I would buy her whole shop if I could!

Sorry didn't realise you were now sorted! DD is lovely for future ref though!

Just how many Orkney designers are there??

Lots! The Grande Dame is Ola Gorie, then one the people she trained up left and set up Ortak, they were very successful in the 80s but the quality isn't as good as the other designers. His best designer left and set up www.sheilafleet.com, her enamelling is beautiful. There's also Aurora, Celina Rupp, Fluke, as well as Alison Moore and Zoe Davidson listed above.

spottygrotty · 12/09/2017 20:41

Kit Heath. Simple but nice and priced around £50

Dancergirl · 04/10/2017 15:25

Beautiful necklace OP, glad you found something nice.

barchester did you decide yet? The Zoe Davidson stuff is lovely.

Dancergirl · 04/10/2017 15:27

Thank you for the info count I am familiar with Sheila Fleet - I bought a beautiful necklace of hers in Cornwall.
