Every day silver necklace

I am looking for a simple silver necklace to wear everyday and I'm struggling to find the right one. I used to have a russian ring style one from DH but I can't find it. :( I know that I don't want anything with a creature/specific object on it (ie no bees, birds, boats, feathers, pineapples etc) and nothing personalised with the names/initials/fingerprints etc of my children. Something which sits nicely on the neckline so 16" chain probably, no long pendants and nothing too in your face. That said, I would like it to be a little bit quirky/interesting and not Tiffany or a more classic style such as hammered silver rings etc. I've looked at all the local jewellery makers round where I live and nothing is grabbing. Can anyone recommend anything simple but striking? My dress sense is a bit mum uniform of Boden/Joules/SeaSalt type Breton top and skinny jeans but I run a beach shop and can also quite often be found in shorts and a vest top or a t-shirt dress.

I have this necklace which has my two daughters' initials engraved, separated by a love heart. Pictures make this look very plain but somehow it looks completely stunning on. I am constantly complemented on it. I was given it as a gift and honestly, it's just beautiful. It seems to look nice whatever I'm wearing.

Here's a pic of it before engraving.

The Alison Moore egg is lovely, I have some of her rings, beautifully made and packaged and prompt delivery.

BikeRunSki · 29/07/2017 23:13

Sweetie necklace filled my very similar brief.

Pigeonpost · 29/07/2017 23:47

Hmmmm. Too many of the necklaces suggested have 'things' on them (like a heart or a key or a shell or a leaf or a feather or initials etc), I want a non-thing!! Not explaining this very well. I also don't want a recognisable brand thing like anything Tiffany or Links of London etc. Organic egg still winning but I am going to have a really thorough search first to see if I can find the one DH bought me years ago. It's not really Russian ring style as it's one continuous loop but sort of twisted into smaller rings. So hard to describe but very tactile as well. Must be here somewhere!!

Look up Rose Haugh jewellery.
She has some beautiful pieces and takes commissions.

eloisesparkle · 30/07/2017 10:10

GlamorousGlitter
DH and I bought a really special Alan Ardiff necklace for DD1.
You know how he names his necklaces, he had one entitled a 'pet' name we use for her.
She only went and bloody lost it.
Aghhhhhhhhhhh
His work is so lovely
I'd love something by him, but at present I can only dream.

I think it is often impossible to replace something individual you have lost OP. I bought a beautiful silver bangle about twenty years ago. It was plain with the makers initials SJCP stamped on it in hallmark fashion with a hallmark and a couple of other small stamps. I lost it last year in our second house move in twelve months and still miss it.

Endless web trawling has resulted in not finding anything. One day I will find something I like enough to replace it with.

BarchesterFlowers · 30/07/2017 11:16

On the organic egg I think the small organic necklace would be more tactile as the pieces are held together with a link so you could play with them whereas the copper bit in the egg is fixed.

I am always playing with my jewellery!

I'm looking for something similar! I have one from Toast that I like (although it's not quite right hence the search) but they don't seem to have any at the moment.

I like this.

squiz81 · 30/07/2017 12:01

A lot on this website won't fit your remit, but some bits do...but She offers a bespoke service so you can email her exactly what you want. I have a star necklace from her and love it

Try Joy Everly. www.joyeverley.co.uk/collections/silver/products/tiny-two-pebble-necklace I bought her pebble chain for my best friend, who prefers to just wear the smooth pebble everyday. I also wear the pebble on a charm bracelet. Currently showing as sold out, but worth giving them a call - they are so helpful and regularly have new stock.

Glamorousglitter · 31/07/2017 06:21

Eloisesparkle,
His stuff is lovely, amazing craftsmanship

Gincision · 31/07/2017 11:42

I have a silver necklace similar to this that I bought in Sweden last year. I absolutely love it because you can adjust the length / shape so it's different everytime you wear it. You can also wear it as a bracelet. Only problem is I'm slightly allergic to it so can't wear it as often as I'd like.

Your style and jewellery taste sounds very similar to me so watching with interest..

I actually really like this one. It's my initial but doesn't necessarily look like it. This or the Alison Moore one... Still got to do a proper search for my old necklace though.

Oliver Bonas do some lovely silver necklaces.
I have a heart with wings (very subtle) on a very short chain, given to me on my wedding day by my best friend 6 years ago. I wear it everyday and am often complimented on it.

I like this OB

Watching with interest too. I wear silver but my most loved necklace came from a Christmas market stall!

It is impossible to find something unfussy if you don't want leaves etc. I also have a huge dislike of two colours together i.e. silver and gold.

I find it hard to find a chain that isn't too delicate but isn't 'big' either.

I actively dislike Alan Ardiff/Pandora i.e. more known brands.

JDSTER · 02/08/2017 17:45

pigeon thanks for starting this post. I always admire 'everyday' necklaces on friends but haven't really found one for myself. I really like the stuff from Alison Moore. Barchester I love your advice about the organic necklaces. Based on your suggestions I think I'm going to treat myself to the small organic necklace.

christmasunicorn · 02/08/2017 21:34

meteorite jewellery?

SweetieDarling11 · 02/08/2017 21:46

Can't beat a bit of Tiffany Smile

spewylewis · 02/08/2017 21:49

I follow Alison Moore on FB and if I get the new job I'm going to treat myself to one of her silver rings and a Vivienne Westwood watch.

Shambolical1 · 03/08/2017 19:45

I have one of these; it's very simple and subtle but has a nice weight and shine to it.

This addendum knot is very pretty.

Piffpaffpoff · 03/08/2017 20:03

I'm about to buy this. Lovely little piece from a relatively new designer in Orkney. There are bigger and smaller versions but I like this one the best.
