How many bikini's is too many for an 11 day holiday?

Private villa, just me and my Partner. I spend most of the time in just the bottoms.

I know it's daft to take loads, but the trouble is I love pretty bikini's!

Take as many as you want - they weigh nothing, and don't take up any space.

Especially if that's all you're basically going to be wearing for the duration.

MsHippo · 20/07/2017 07:00

I take a minimum of four because I don't like sitting in a wet costume (unless I'm actually lying on the beach or by the pool) so I change multiple times a day - early morning swim, clean one for breakfast, clean one for lunch, clean one if we do anything like walk to the supermarket late afternoon etc. I would actually take one more than that too, as one inevitably disintegrates at some point too when then elastic goes!

metalmum15 · 20/07/2017 07:13

I take 5 for a 7 day holiday, simply because I like to wear a different one every day. Let's face it, swimwear takes up very little space in your luggage compared to other clothes.

Madeyemoodysmum · 20/07/2017 07:26

I taking 4 on 7 day cruise plus a one piece. Take as many as you like.

LoniceraJaponica · 20/07/2017 09:01

CountFosco rinsing out a wet bikini to get ride of the chlorine/salt water isn't the same as washing clothes. I wear my bikinis for a maximum of one week a year so there isn't much point in owning loads anyway.

Suomynona · 20/07/2017 10:45

Thanks all - I am most definitely not a 'wash one, wear one' type of gal, and doing washing on my hols is a definite no, so have settled on around 9 or 10 nice ones, although saw a couple more beauts online last night!

Now to decide on shoes, dresses etc - yippee!

LoniceraJaponica · 20/07/2017 11:57

But wouldn't you even rinse them out before drying them or do they get dried with salt/chlorine still clinging to them? Maybe that's why mine always last for years because I do rinse mine. It takes seconds to do.

LoupGarou · 20/07/2017 12:05

Mine last for years too Lonicera and I don't rinse mine out. I don't swim in chlorinated water though, just salt or freshwater.

LoupGarou · 20/07/2017 12:06

Plus those few seconds rinsing bikinis could be much better spent doing other things, such as pouring myself a drink Grin

Suomynona · 20/07/2017 13:41

Yes I'd usually quickly rinse them out, but quite frankly that's the extent of my laundry duties while on hols. To be honest, I love a new bikini or two each year and as they take up barely any space, why the hell not Grin. LoupGarou and I are definitely on the same page.....

I take one for each day but I do change into a dry one when I go for lunch nothing worse than sat in damp bottoms whilst eating.

PaulaPennyfeather · 20/07/2017 22:03

Just you and your partner? Wear nothing at the villa, take one for the beach.

specialsubject · 20/07/2017 22:17

Loads, they hardly take up space. Take ages to dry and soggy knickers look and feel horrible. That's why boardies in whatever length suits are so good.

Gwenhwyfar · 20/07/2017 23:02

I don't see why people take one for every day. Surely you have to rinse them out in the evening anyway so why not just wash them in the sink and take 1 or 2?

LoniceraJaponica · 20/07/2017 23:09

Because they aren't boring and practical like you and me Gwen. I don't look great in a bikini and only wear it at the beach or pool. To buy 7 bikinis for a one week holiday once a year is, for me, a monumental waste of money. I prefer to spend money on a different outfit for every evening rather than a different bikini every day, because I would also wear these clothes at home.

Gwenhwyfar · 20/07/2017 23:27

I buy one bikini every 10 years or so. Just not something I use most years. I've been to the beach this year for the first time in four years and just wore a sun dress. I do look at them in the shop and think 'that's nice' followed by 'when would I wear it?'. Just not into a week at a foreign beach I suppose.

LoupGarou · 21/07/2017 00:14

We are indeed Suomynona I apply the same logic for how many evening dresses and pairs of shoes to take as I do for bikinis Grin

Why not Gwen? Variety is the spice of life and all that Smile

I don't look conventionally good in a bikini Lonicera I am absolutely covered in scars (I look like a zebra) and have had a double mastectomy. By that logic half the bikini is wasted, and I have recently stared going topless where its permitted and commonplace as it started to seem a bit silly wearing a top half. But I love wearing a bikini, I'm very happy in my own skin and I love holiday shopping.

I live in the Arctic (literally), so when I go somewhere hot I go all out, not like I'd be wearing any of the clothes I take to a hot place at home anyway, even the evening dresses I wear for work events etc would be too formal and hot for a holiday Smile. I have to wear practical clothes for the vast majority of the year to make sure I don't die of exposure, when I'm on holiday I go all out frivolous Smile

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 21/07/2017 00:15

I always take quite a few, but couldn't imagine not rinsing them out after swimming in them.

diodati · 21/07/2017 00:52

As many as you want! I love bikinis.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 21/07/2017 03:36

No such thing as too many bikinis. They take up barely any space, so just cram in as many as possible.

I think I usually take four or five for a week Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 21/07/2017 14:00

My new one from Dorothy Perkins arrived today, and I'm really chuffed with it!

ShoutOutToMyEx · 21/07/2017 14:17

God, I'd take about 15.

I love swimwear though. Buy new every year. DP goes mad about it.

Littlechocola · 21/07/2017 14:22

I only own one bikini but it is pretty, fits well and is well made. I love my bikini.

DavetheCat2001 · 21/07/2017 14:32

I have 2 now!
