Recommend a tinted moisturiser?

Have been using Laura Mercier for the last few years and I do like it but wondered if there's anything else out there I should try?

I can't get on with normal foundations they just break my skin out with little red lumps. So I guess they are too formulated.

I've tried the Botanics BB cream in the past (think it's discontinued now) and it was ok but the colour wasnt right.

Lily Lolo and Bare Minerals make me itch and are too drying for my skin age (41)

Didn't like the boots No 7 BB cream or the tinted moisturiser, or any of their foundations in fact.

Have tried a Nars sample but I can't remember what it was like which suggests I didn't rate it enough to buy it.

Another vote for Nivea tinted moisturiser. I am lucky as it is a good colour match for me.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 20/07/2017 20:28

You might find the BB is great on you, but the other is always on offer somewhere for around £2 (look on my supermarket) so its not bank breaking to try if the BB is no good. It's not unheard of for me to blend the day cream with a touch of foundation if I need more coverage for an evening out. If the BB is too sheer it might be fantastic mixed with something else.

I bought a replacement laura mercier in nude only yesterday! I too want a cheaper alternative but couldn't pick so I panic re-bought the LM one. It does seem to last many months though.

Paddingtonthebear · 20/07/2017 21:57

To be fair I bought my last tube of Laura Mercier at the end of November and it's only run out this week

I really like the Liz Earle Skin tint; I think it is slightly yellow in tone and can be a bit sticky (dewy?) but it lasts all day (evidence on my face cloth in the evenings) and doesn't dry out, cause my skin to flake, or cause me to break out. It's a very light coverage and isn't a moisturiser, but nice on top of my usual moisturiser.

Justgivemesomepeace · 20/07/2017 22:20

I swear by the Nivea tinted moisturiser. Feels like a good moisturiser and as PP says just put a bit on in the week for evening out skin tone a bit and our a bit more on when going out and it looks like foundation. I use the natural shade and it's perfect for me. It's about £4 so it's worth a try and just bin it if you don't like it!! I pick it up in Sainsbury's with my shopping.

BluebellGal · 20/07/2017 23:07

I'm off to buy some of the Nivea tinted moisturizer - thanks ladies :)

Used Clinique Moisture Surge TM for years but they seem to have discontinued it (helpline says "supply problems" but salespeople say "discontinued, madness"). Very cross so now abandoning Clinique for ever. Found Boots Naturals TM almost as good and only £2.99, amazing. Also for a tiny bit more coverage and a SPF 15 (don't like higher than that) there's a Bourjois CC cream that is very good.

borntobequiet · 21/07/2017 09:45

Boots Natural Collection, should be.

Paddingtonthebear · 21/07/2017 11:19

Well the Nivea BB cream is absolutely terrible and is the in the bin already

Debating trying the Nivea Tinted Moisturiser or paying a bit more and trying La Roche Posay or Urban Decay

Clarins. Used it for years, love it BUT more recently they have changed the formulation so it's still great colour but it's very highly fragranced. Doesn't put me off, but some might be sensitive to it.

ILoveMyMonkey · 21/07/2017 11:30

Another vote for Nivea tinted moisturiser, I mix a bit of E45 into it to make it easier/ smoother to apply.

OldJoseph · 21/07/2017 12:47

Nivea tinted moisturiser was the first MN recommendation I bought and because of this thread I've gone back to it and it really is very good. I didn't rate their BB cream though.
It's worth trying in the first instance because it is so much cheaper than LM and significantly cheaper than LRP or UD

Paddingtonthebear · 21/07/2017 14:53

Back from Tesco with the £3 Nivea Tinted Moisturiser! Hoping it will be ok as I've already wasted £6 on then Nivea BB cream sitting in the bin. Hmm

Don't bin the BB try it blended with something else, maybe foundation in the winter.
Experiment!

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 21/07/2017 15:10

NARS is the best - prefer the matte one to the dewy. Good SPF too.

millifiori · 21/07/2017 19:47

Not tried their BB cream. Their Q10 is fantastic but some of the older style creams they do are too greasy.

Paddingtonthebear · 21/07/2017 20:35

Well the Nivea Tinted cream seems ok. I am quite olive toned and also have a tan at the moment and it is not remotely pale on me, if anything I look more tanned. Not sure i will be able to wear it in winter? I can't see how anyone with pale skin can wear it!

Is there a good face tanning moisturizer. Something like the Garnier gradual body moisturizer but for the face? I have looked but haven't found anything.
