But I would rather have roman blinds in a funky stripey Laura Ashley fabric in my new bedroom. Am I being studenty and cheap or simple and stylish???

Failed again! Sigh..............

deaconblue · 24/03/2007 15:08

So are you a proper grown up with blinds? Can I be one?

but you can line roman blinds as well
we have no proper curtains anywhere in the house in that case, it's all roman blinds!

deaconblue · 24/03/2007 15:10

I was planning to get blackout lining put on them. Can't be doing with all that tie back malarky, much prefer to just pull up the blinds in the morning

I have blinds and floaty muslins!

yomellamoHelly · 24/03/2007 15:17

Only if you put them up yourself. Remember dh asking his mum doing them for him when he was a student. Mind you my mun did them in our first flat!

specialmagiclady · 24/03/2007 15:18

I love roman blinds and think they are VERY grown up if lined. I have not had time to get decent lined curtains/blinds in my new house what with being about to spawn and that, and it's doing my head in something proper.

I made beautiful lined roman blinds for my old house and I loved them. V. chic, I felt.

deaconblue · 24/03/2007 15:20

Was going to pay for Laura Ashley ones in super nice fabric.

I have gorgeous, v v £££££ custom made lined roman blinds in my living room. They are gorgeous. I'm saving up to have some made up in a girly fabric for DD's room.

thank you, am very pleased with them. Have bought in the LA sale the madeleine duck egg duvet cover and pillow cases and a range of patterned cushions. All for my new grown up house

You could get a blackout roller blind and then have whatever curtains you damn well like.

brimfull · 24/03/2007 16:46

I got a beautiful LA roman blind for £40 ,they were selling ex-display stuff.Couldn't believe my luck when it fitted perfectly....nearly had an orgasm!!

deaconblue · 24/03/2007 16:47

How much do you reckon for 2 average sized windows - roller blinds made to measure with blackout lining? Can't work it out from the catalogue

What's to discuss? It's bullcrap

nogoes · 24/03/2007 16:52

Laura Ashley is hardly studenty. Go on admit it you are finally a grown up! You will be shopping in Boden next

brimfull · 24/03/2007 17:18

My guesstimate would be about £370

deaconblue · 24/03/2007 17:26

that's not too bad, I thought it might be up to £500.
nogoes - bought first ever Boden item last week
think I might be a grown up wannabe though

I have two windows in my bedroom and was recently told by a friend who's into interior design that it would cost £2K to have decent curtains made. (Needless to say I'm still using the £100 ready-made ones that don't exactly fit.)

q7 · 24/03/2007 20:39

Any one bought John Lewis made-to-measure?

Bink · 24/03/2007 20:40

Nope. Being a grown-up means deciding to have proper actual nutrition things to go with that first glass of wine thrown down the neck of an evening (instead of the cornershop bag of crisps normally ripped into). Which is why I have just ordered a meze cookbook.
