Babyliss Big Hair - for the love of God, help me.

I should start by saying I can barely use a hairdryer, and certainly am no great shakes at blowdrying with it.

A new Babyliss Big Hair arrived this morning. I have watched a couple of youtube videos and tried to give it a go. I CANNOT get the hang of it! My hair ends up wound around the spinny thing far too quickly and I can't pull it out at the right kind of pace!

And for heaven's sake, how on earth do you section your own hair at the back?!

On the upside, I DO have bouncy roots now.

It is great when you get the hang of it.

I blast my hair with my hairdryer until it's about 95% dry, but leave the top a bit more wet.

I start with sectioning my hair from just below the top of my ears & put that in a clip on top of my head, and the hair that's left I pull to either side (like doing pigtails), and start at one side.

I take a small section, and hold the rest of that side of the hair in my mouth (!!) then brush the section I'm about to do. I find that if I have the hair under the brush when I'm doing the mid/end section, then turn the brush round so it's under the hair it's a lot easier to do my roots with a bounce then.

Just keep trying, it's definitely worth it when you get the hang of it.

It gets more tangled if you try with bigger sections of hair, and if you don't brush it with a normal brush first.

Oh don't get me wrong - I can see how this has huge potential if I can just get the hang. It has definitely got my roots looking better, and simply drying my hair on the setting without the whirling has made it look better. It's just I suspect it'll be even better if I can learn to use the spinning bit!

Think my sections are too big. Will try again tomorrow with smaller!

I waited with baited breath for mine to arrive, I thought 'this is finally it' envisaged walking round swaying my hair like the Vidal Sassoon advert.....

Did not happen, it sits gathering dust in a drawer at present!!

I think smaller sections are needed to, work your way round from the side, to the back and out the other side.

Don't put it on the highest setting. Medium is fine, you don't want frazzles hair.

Eventually you'll find what works for you, don't forget the woman on the box looks like she's had heated rollers in to get that bend in her hair.

I love mine! I roughly dry my hair with the hairdryer until it's pretty much dry, then go over the vey top layer with the bighair, then the layers underneath. It takes an extra 2-3 mins on top of hair drying, and just takes my hair from fuzzy and wild to smooth and tamed! I wouldn't be without it! I hope you make friends with itGrinSmile

Until you get used to it, instead of holding the button down, try pulsing it so it's only turning a little at a time

Dry hair until completely dry. Divide hair into sections with a few claw clips to help. You do the back by dividing in two and pulling round the side. Keep checking hair is on the brush part, and take it slowly as it hurts if it gets trapped in the edges. I whirl it for a bit then hold. I never use it to dry (have trusty Parlux for that)

I love it. Makes for nice bouncy hair.

I am inept at hair drying, and couldn't use a dryer and brush to save my life.

But the BBH really is simple. So simple you can do it one-handed, while reading a book!

Just hold it under a section of hair and press the button.

Maybe try a you tube tutorial?

I love mine and use it all the time. Turns my frizzy wavy shoulder length hair into smooth sleek and glossy gorgeousness... with the tangling, are you sure you're using the right buttons for the right side of your head? Difficult to explain but there are 2 buttons, 1 rotates clockwise and 1 rotates anti clockwise. Each do seperate sides of your head. I can't remember which way round they are but I find if I use the wrong side this is what tangles the brush into the hair..

Oh my God, this is IT!! Blush I didn't even notice there were 2 buttons! Off to have another try.

Good luck! Once you've got the hang of which side button for which side of your hand you'll be doing your hair whilst reading a book at the same time. It's soooo easy.

And also I should of added they don't last long in my experience! Certainly not as long as the 3 year guarantee on them! Last time I went to Costco they were selling them for £25 each so I bought two! I too have had them die on me!

For the back I lift the hair straight up, and twirl backwards towards the root!

Yes, I've had one die on me also. The bristles start to get a bit tired after a while too.

Always use the slower setting!

It's quite hot enough, and the slower spin makes it much easier to control and less likely to end in a tangled mess.

The top setting is far too "frantic".

Anyone who wants mine is bloody welcome to it - I HATE it with a vengeance and would be happy to get rid. It's currently glaring at me from my cupboard. Used once and instantly turned into Yootha Joyce from George and Mildred. Never again.

please tell me how?! It turns my smooth sleek and glossy gorgeousness into frizzy wavy shoulder length hair!

I've tried to turn it on the low heat (not actually cold) and low speed (not actually off) and it helped slightly reduce the frizz but not a lot.

So I am left with bouncy and frizzy hair. Definitely not sleek at all. Its like it spits the hair in all different directions because the air blowing around isn't in one particular direction. What am I doing wrong?!

If your hair is already smooth, sleek and glossy - do you even need to be using it?
