Ah cod I am on your side. I have a pair of the Next padded toepost jobs - metallic blue type colour - wore them virtually all the time last summer. Along with a pair of canvas mules from Asda girls section which cost virtually nothing but have worn done.

There is a select bunch of us though who live in flip flops. I have seen some quicksilver ones in Brantano's for £2 and I can't for the life of me think why I didn't buy them.

CODalmighty · 22/03/2007 09:00

I had a sort of metallic light blue/turquise - not sure they are doing it this year. I was thinking about getting the gold...

bozza · 22/03/2007 09:01

I love flipflops because they are so cheap that you can have lots of different ones.

happystory · 22/03/2007 09:04

Can I ask a question about Converse? Do they look like you're trying to be young? I really like them, lots of colours to go with anything, trendy, nicer than trainers...but...

Am tempted this spring- what do you think of people who wear them (whispers) over 40?

aol · 22/03/2007 09:04

French girlie compromise look - in linen or this a a \link{http://www.elle.fr/elle/mode/les-conseils-mode/les-essentiels/(offset)/6/(node)/70267# comfy} little number recommended for schleeping around ville

aol · 22/03/2007 09:05

Bum. Here's the Parisienne idea of comfortable shoe

Anchovy · 22/03/2007 09:06

What about the croc flip flops? Saw them in the John Lewis "coming up next season" catalogue.

I like flip flops - live in them in the summer - hate crocs (can't even bring myself to read the croc threads - they are just so minging and there is no justification). But these looked pretty good and they have them in black and chocolated brown

happystory · 22/03/2007 09:06

Ooh am liking les tennis lacets!

bozza · 22/03/2007 09:09

I think flip flop crocs might not be too bad - not far departed from your original rubber and plastic flip flop that my Mum used to wear in the 70s. And you could paddle in them.

happystory · 22/03/2007 09:11

What about my Converse question?!

bozza · 22/03/2007 09:26

I think you are fine to wear them. I am almost 34 and would wear them although have a pair of dunlops from last summer that I will wear instead. I am more of a shoe/sandal person and was even when I was young.

CODalmighty · 22/03/2007 09:30

I am over 40, and I weat them - I wear them. I don't think I am looking like mutton. New wide leg jeans, fitted top. Just becasue we are old does not mean we have to wear crocs or mules.

In London they are very popular among all ages.

swedishmum · 22/03/2007 09:54

I'm 43 and wear all stars - love them. I have black sequin ones I wear for work with wide legged trousers. They aren't as twinkly as they sound. I don't do trainers at all (or crocs) so I always take a pair on sightseeing type holidays, and they are perfect for school run (we're in the country, school's on a big slope and I need to be able to run after 3yo).

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2007 13:44

i have 5 pairs of chucks, but am 23! lol
imports from usa- red with white stars all over, pink hi-tops, camo turn downs, beige cord and a plain black pair, for formal coccaisons of course!
