Leggings under dress - ok or no?

This Mango dress. Cottony, t-shirt-ish, casual. But on me, a little too short. And I thought "Well I'll chuck some cropped leggings on" but I'm not sure now. Is this a bit 2002 or does the leggings revival right now include poking out from under casual dresses?

Leggings under a top that ends mid thigh are ok.

Leggings under knee length dresses are awful looking.

Agree. That's why I wear short dresses, cos they're basically tunics.

I think wearing leggings is a brilliant option to wear under dresses that we love but are just that little bit too short when we're feeling self conscious of our legs, plus of course they're brilliant if you've forgotten and don't have time to shave your legs or if you feel a bit pasty or bloated etc

I wore footless tights under a knee length dress yesterday! I was in two minds about it to be honest. I'm not sure it looked that great.
It was too hot to wear tights and shoes but the air conditioning at work made it too cold to just wear the dress with no leggings. I chose comfort over style

I often wear leggings under shorter dresses or skirts with either ankle boots, wedges or flat sandals

Have noticed some of the girls at work have adopted this too so it must be ok, not that I actually care, it's so passe to follow the fashion crowd nowadays

I'd also wear leggings under that dress. The thing is, that style of dress suits me, but I'm nearly 40 and quite like something under it and a lot of styles don't suit short, dumpy me so leggings and a long top it is. I'm also a primary school teacher, so maybe it's in my DNA.

I will sometimes wear cropped leggings under a dress which is too short usually top of my thigh. But anything longer I just wear as a dress. Someone I know wears a dress past her knees with long leggings and sandals it looks so silly in this weather
