I'm sick to death of paying £200 for a shit colour and cut that ruins my hair and I always leave the salon nearly in tears.
Is there a hairdresser in the land that can actually dye brown hair blonde without it looking shite orange after 6 weeks and my hair snapping off ?
I will admit to only having been to Toni and Guy recently.

Toni and guy are shit. Run a search on this board and you'll see! Where are you in the country though?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/06/2017 08:47

I'd never go to T and G!

Where in the country are you? the guy that does my hair is brilliant but he'll only be Worth recommending if you live in London

icloud75com · 10/06/2017 09:31

I'd go to London, Manchester, Liverpool anywhere I can reach by train to have it done properly.
My hair is half way down my back, has 6 months of dark roots which actually looks quite trendy because my hair is so curly and scruffy anyway. BUT I start work in a couple of weeks and sharp professional is more the look i'm after. I do want to keep the length but the blonde needs to look spot on if i'm doing it.
I just want to not ruin my hair so I can keep the length.

Trevor Sorbie have salons in London and Manchester. I go to the one in Covent Garden. They do inhouse training for all new staff and standards are very high. Lovely, friendly place too.

I have had consistently good results from several Aveda salons. I have highlighted hair and both colour and cuts have always been perfect, whichever salon I have been to. There is a big branch on Marylebone High Street, and others in London . A google search will show them all. Emphasis is very much on hair condition as well .

livefrommysofa · 10/06/2017 09:48

Look for a AVEDA colour salon. Their colours, especially blondes are gorgeous. Probably too far for you but Paul Knight Salon in Oulton, Leeds is AVEDA and he is well known for being a good hairdresser.

DangerMouse17 · 10/06/2017 09:49

Paul Edmonds in Kensington

I've been to expensive "high end" hairdressers who bragged about all their training all over the world. One owned his own shop and it was high end. He said he trained all over the world in NYC, London, Spain, Italy, etc. It was the worst color I've ever had! Thankfully he didn't have time to cut my hair. I fixed the color myself. A similar thing happened with a haircut with another hairdresser who was really "high end" and charged a small fortune.

I've been to other hairdressers not as high end and they were far better.

Best way to get what you're after is word of mouth, read reviews online and if you see someone when you're out and you like their hair, don't feel shy about asking them where they get theirs done. It will be a huge compliment to them and make their day and you'll get a good hairdresser.

Truckingalong · 10/06/2017 09:56

After years of searching, I've found an amazing hairdresser. I'd follow her to the ends of the earth. She's worked in the high end places but is just in an ordinary salon now. She's in cheshire. You can follow her work on Instagram.

Vinorosso74 · 10/06/2017 09:57

Lisa Hauck in Primrose Hill are fab.

icloud75com · 10/06/2017 09:59

Cheshire would be fine

It's rather out of the way but I go to a local salon in St Ives (Cambridgeshire not Cornwall) called Genesis, they're the only ones I trust and I went from reddish brown hair to blonde there and the colour stayed for ages. They're Wella trained so I'm not sure if you could find other Wella hairstylists near you?

I found mine by asking someone with really good hair in a pub who did her hair GrinI'd really recommend that too!

Puffpaw · 10/06/2017 10:12

Aveda are good. Or if money really is no object and you want expensive blonde I would go to jo hansford, Percy & Reed or josh wood, all in London. als have a look at kerastase for day to day haircare.

icloud75com · 10/06/2017 11:13

Because I have curly hair i've been a) not shampooing and b) staying away from all the usual suspects Aveda etc because of the silicones etc.
I'm not going to spend a fortune for the rest of my life on my hair, but just once I'd like a great colour and cut. Then i'll go back to my usual hippy self

Truckingaong would you mind letting me know the salon/hairdressers name? I'm in Cheshire and always on the lookout for a good salon!

MusicToMyEars800 · 10/06/2017 14:00

I go to Lisa Edwards and Cocoon, always have a great experience there and never been disappointed, I think price wise they are good too.

ImperialBlether · 10/06/2017 14:03

Yes, I want a new hairdresser and am near Cheshire!

jewelwinter · 10/06/2017 14:29

Have a look on treatwell.co.uk. I found my hairdresser on there and she's magnificent!

Truckingalong · 10/06/2017 17:01

It's Amy at Fuss salon in Great Sankey, Warrington. Look at her work on Instagram. She's ace.

SuperFlyHigh · 10/06/2017 17:24

Salons that use Aveda products (1 in Clapham Common, 1 in SW London area) they may be good but aren't necessarily great and an Aveda blonde is different to say a Schwartzkopf one.

I do know a fab hairdresser think she's called Pop Hair in West Norwood, not cheap but she really knows her stuff and tons of recommendations!

SuperFlyHigh · 10/06/2017 17:27

If I were you OP I'd go to Trevor Sorbie in Manchester... For your location. I had my hair cut for a couple of years and it was a great cut - though he cut a lot off every time why I don't know!

carrie74 · 10/06/2017 17:42

Back in the day (about 15 years ago), Daniel Galvin was the place to go for excellent colour, I saw lots of famouses in there when I used to go (I went to the training nights for cheapy cuts!)

RedMetamorphosis · 10/06/2017 17:58

Jill at Vox Manchester is amazing. Can also recommend South Cheshire too.
