What is your perfume history . Can you share the main perfumes in your life ? I tend to be faithful to one perfume at any particular time and wear it all the time so if I smell a perfume it reminds me of a time/ stage in my life . Often struggle to find perfumes I really love . Starting wearing white musk in my teens . Moved onto Coco, Joop, love affair with Jean Paul gaultier Classiquestarted mid twenties when DP bought it for me first Christmas we were dating wore it for over twenty years ! During that time I also wore Cashmir, Hypnotic Poison ,Angel ( but never really liked it that much!) Euphoria . Finally found my latest favourite and think it will be for a while - Poison Girl . Please share your perfume history and let me know if you can suggest any others I would like .

At 15 I wore Charlie Girl and Aqua Manda.
Givenchy III at university because I had a generous flat mate who used to let me use hers.

Diorella - the first perfume DH bought me and the one I wore on our wedding day. Sadly changed beyond recognition now.

Body Shop Rose - all I could tolerate when pregnant.

Polo Sport Woman when the DCs were younger.

Now I wear Chanel Coco, Dior J'adore, Laura Mercier La Lune, Lancome O and L'Occitane Verbena depending on the occasion.

crabwoman · 06/06/2017 20:44

Best, you've just reminded me about pregnancy. I couldn't stand to wear any of my existing perfumes.
I was however obsessed with tropical scents. I used to hunt down everything that smelled tropical, shower gel, hand wash, cleaning products and cheap body sprays in neon plastic bottles. I have spent 9 months stinking of a pina colada! Grin

Dune

Schmoochypoos · 06/06/2017 21:26

First scent I ever remember was LouLou my mum used to wear, which I used to wear to secondary school.

Then Impulse in a green/yellow bottle which everyone seemed to have at the time!

Once I was late teens some that I loved were
Estée Lauder Pleasures
D&G light Blue
CKOne

Went onto some sweeter scents in my 20s
Emporio Armani She
Nina Ricci something I can't remember!

Others I have had which I remember which I assume means I've liked them!
Ghost
DKNY in a tall white bottle
Euphoria
J'adore
Paco Rabanne ultraviolet

Currently wearing Black Opium which I love but I need a lighter scent for summer now. Need to go shopping!

BusterGonad · 07/06/2017 05:44

Oh and I had YSL Parisian, that is a lovely perfume too!

SuperBeagle · 07/06/2017 05:54

Started wearing Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger.

Went to Flora and Flora Gardenia by Gucci in my late teens/early 20s.

Have worn that ever since, but Dahlia Divin by Givenchy and J'Adore by Dior are my go-tos now. I also like Daisy by Marc Jacobs in the warmer months (whereas I can't wear J'Adore because it's suffocating in the heat).

Every now and then I still get a whiff of Tommy Girl on someone else and it makes me nostalgic. Almost tempted to buy myself a bottle again.

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 07:53

Dame Diaz - I am sure you will remember a few more like I just have! Cabochard (I think it was called) and Cabotine. Also Le Dix (bit too sweet if I am honest and Ivorie (lovely and strong.)

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 07:53

Rush and rush 2 as well and JPG the summer one.

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 07:57

Bal a Versailles - cannot believe no one else thought of it!!!

ProseccoandPizza · 07/06/2017 08:13

Jean Paul Gaultier - Classique. At 16
Estee Lauder- Beyond Paradise. At 17.
Clinique - Aromatics Elixer. At 18.
Prada - Amber. At 19.
A few others in early twenties such as Harajuku girls, CK in2u and Amore Amore.
Post DS Marc Jacobs Daisy and the beloved Prada Amber.
Now at 31 YSL Black Opium that DP bought me. Not quite my usual taste but growing on me. First perfume a man has ever bought me tbh.

Prada Amber will always be a favourite.

VintagePerfumista · 07/06/2017 09:45

Deathraystare- your list is fabulous!

The HR was just called Courant. I am currently watching a mini on ebay! The Black Rose was Goya and often turns up on ebay. (I am after Goya Gardenia to add to my perfume memory box)

Can I invite all of you perfumistas over to our Scarf of a Thousand Scents thread? We smell lovely and will make you spend a small fortune Grin

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 09:54

Thanks Vintage (am blushing now!) at first I thought there would only be a few but I remembered a fab chemist near where I used to work and I was in there buying old favourites quite regularly. It was only when it closed down I was told he was dealing in drugs! Er...not only the legit ones!!!

Yes, Vintage thanks for info Goya of course! I miss the Courant one though whether I would still like it or not I am not sure.

I do lurk on the scarf of a thousand scents!

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 09:59

I also had one called Sortilege Le Galion but which was the perfume and which was the make (I bet Vintage knows!) I know not.

And a lovely one called or by Azzuro. Very citrussy if I remember correctly.

Deathraystare · 07/06/2017 10:21

I have just remembered one called Dinner by Bobo in a dropper bottle. Very strong and soemthing called Twirly and girly or something. I used to look at the perfume on Make up Alley and absolutely had to have these for some reason.

OuchLegoHurts · 07/06/2017 19:39

In order:
Fuzzy peach, white musk, Tribe (all very sweet and teenagey!)

Now: thanks to Vintage and pals on the Perfumistas thread, this list has exploded, as I discover the delights of samples and vintage bottles, so to pick a few favourites:
Sahara Noir (Tom Ford), Youth Dew, Femme (Rochas) Paloma Picasso, L'Heure Bleue, Empreinte (Courreges), plus loads from 4160 Tuesdays including Shazam!, Who Knew? Babylon Sunset, The Great Randello.

raindropstea · 08/06/2017 11:02

MrsCocoa, you just reminded me... I do love a good Sandalwood scent. There was a perfume called Sand & Sable I bought on holiday in America as a teen. I used to love that. Kiehl's makes a sandalwood roll-on one (it might be discontinued) that reminded me of it.

Deathraystare · 08/06/2017 16:09

Raindrop I thing the Sand a& sable is by Coty. Never tried it but was lusting after it.

Mrs Cocoa - I remember Empreinte (Courreges) had forgotten to add Paloma Picasso and Youth Dew! Oh and 4711 - always a favourite when one gets sweaty or frazzled!

raindropstea · 08/06/2017 16:21

Deathraystare, you should get it. It's a lovely perfume. I might get some. It's really inexpensive too!
