What is your perfume history . Can you share the main perfumes in your life ? I tend to be faithful to one perfume at any particular time and wear it all the time so if I smell a perfume it reminds me of a time/ stage in my life . Often struggle to find perfumes I really love . Starting wearing white musk in my teens . Moved onto Coco, Joop, love affair with Jean Paul gaultier Classiquestarted mid twenties when DP bought it for me first Christmas we were dating wore it for over twenty years ! During that time I also wore Cashmir, Hypnotic Poison ,Angel ( but never really liked it that much!) Euphoria . Finally found my latest favourite and think it will be for a while - Poison Girl . Please share your perfume history and let me know if you can suggest any others I would like .

I've loved reading this- thank you for sharing your highs (and lows!) of perfume.

My first perfume was Charlie by Revlon- my uncle was a rep for them so I got lots of smelly freebies.

Early teens: Rose musk from Body Shop, musk Impulse.

Later teens: Miss Dior, Eau de Guerlain, Chloe

University- Amarige, CKOne

20s- Miss Dior, Chloe, Amarige

30s- Quercus, Extract of Lime (penhaligons),

40s- Vanilla and Anise by Jo Malone, Vanille Noire by Yves Rocher and Voile d'Amber by Yves Rocher

Fozzleyplum · 05/06/2017 23:30

Here's my list of my main scents, in approximate order:
at school: Impulse, then Anais Anais in 6th form
uni:Rive Gauche; Eau de Givenchy in Summer
20s: Blue Grass, Cinnabar, Eau de Givenchy, Burberry (can't remember the full name), Safari by RL, Clarins Eau Dynamisante, Jicky by Guerlain.
30s to date (late 40s): Cinnabar, Safari, Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Jo Malone, La Perla, Jicky, various slightly "dirty" Miller Harris scents-La Fumee, L' Air de Rien, Fleurs de Sel.

AteRiri · 05/06/2017 23:39

Not really a perfume person. But I've used

Cool Water for Women
ESCADA for Men
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea
L'occitane the lemon scent (I forgot)
and if I'm going to buy I like the Chanel Chance pink

Iwanttobakethree · 06/06/2017 13:01

First perfume was Ocean Dream by Giorgio Beverly Hills. Gorgeous little pearlised bottle. I was about 15. Before that it was a body spray, Ypres from the local market. It was pretty potent. I then progressed to All About Eve by Joop - its still MY smell and my all time favourite but they discontinued it and Ive found some online but the original lovely smell has gone :(
I then flirted with Premier Jour by Nina Ricci. Another favourite and discontinues/online stocks no good.
Boyfriend bought me a Calvin klein one in a kidney shaped bottle cant remember the name but hated it.
Chanel Allure but found it gave me a headache.
Body shop Red Musk but it doesn't last sadly.
Issey Miyake to remind me of my mum, it was her daytime scent. Paloma Picasso was her evening one I hate it.
I now love Lidl Suddenly Blush for the office, although I bought a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water Wave for summer and quite like that.

I bought a bottle of Elizabeth Arden Dream Petals from Home Bargains hoping it would be fruity like my Joop but its awful so DD is wearing it.

Iwanttobakethree · 06/06/2017 13:03

It was Calvin Klein Euphoria thanks OP.

Another distinctive one I remember my mum wearing is Charlie White which you can buy in B&M!

Iwanttobakethree · 06/06/2017 13:04

Forgot I also love Clarins Eau Dynamiste for holidays and I like their Eau Des Jardins but I haven't purchased any yet.

BusterGonad · 06/06/2017 14:36

I started off with Impulse vanilla kisses sprays, then moved on to Tribe and Exclamation, then Yardley Baroque perfume, I think I was about 15 to 16 at this point, oh I also had Eden too. Then at about 18 I moved in to Calvin Kline Obsession, then I had Hugo Boss Deep Red and also Jean Paul Gautier Clasique, a few years later I had Vivienne Westwood Boudour, oh how I love this perfume, then I had a spate of buying the Dior Poisons, I think I've ha them all except the green, I still love them, then at about 24 years of age Dior Addict came out and I love it, so I bought that a lot, then I had Ghost Deep Midnight, Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely and then about 10 years later more or less wearing Addict and Deep Midnight and a impulse buy of Angel summer edit (it was beautiful) my husband bought me YSL Manifesto which is gorgeous and very sophisticated. So at present I have Angel, YSL Manifesto and Marc Jacobs Decadence which is just so unusual and beautiful! Sorry about the essay!

BusterGonad · 06/06/2017 14:37

Oh and I had Lancôme Tresor Midnight!

Iwanttobakethree · 06/06/2017 14:51

Does anybody remember Isabella Rosselini Manifesto? Very Green Tea based. I had that once it was lovely.

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 16:30

Ah! This question is right up my street!

Firstly (and do not judge me as I was young! Avon Pretty peach and sweet honesty (yuck!)

Then some more Avon perfumes which were actually lovely but they don't make them anymore thay go for samey safe crap. Moonwind, Unforgettable, Charisma and Occur! Shame they do not do decent stuff anymore.

As a youngish girl in hospital - a lady had on a rose musk which was not too offensive!

When I was about 18 I worked in Debenhams and lusted after Chole (the perfume, not a girl!). I spritzed myself every day with it. Until I bought it, then I hated it!!!
I also lusted after Faberge's Babe, bought it and liked it still (be too sweet now), Xanadu and Kiku.
Mum's Yardley Bond Street (occasionally borrowed) and Whoever made Black Rose.
Aqua Manda
YSL Rive Gauche and Y (hated Mum's Paris - she got a 'smell a like' that smelt very hairsprayish.
Lentheric Tramp, Panache and a host of others
Yardley Silk something or other, White Satin, Flair, there was another one which was in an 'oriental' style bottle with a mauve liquid in it but buggered if I can remember what it was called.
Hermes Caleche (someone gave me the talcon powder so as soon as I could afford it I got the perfume
Max Factor Jontue, green apple and Jardin something or other
Borrowed mum's Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass (love it still and wear it)
Dorothy Grey Menorie Cheire (Loved it but I can't get it now) and Midnight blue
Oscar De La Renta (tried to avoid as bro's ex wore it but I do like it!)
Gucci Envy, II and III
Guerlain MItsouko (my all time favourite), Jicky, L'heure Bleu, Shalimar
Chanel Cristalle
Lancom Magie Noire (another fave), O de Lancome (and another)
Estee Lauder Azuree, Alliage, White Linen, Knowing, Spellbound
Bulgari -not sure what one I think it was a yellow colour liquid
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (fed up of it now!), 5th Avenue
Moschino - various but cannot remember
Balmain - Vent Vert
Carven Ma Griffe

Yes I want to bake - I loved Manifesto! Bit fed up of green tea smells now though.

Another favourite since school days was Prince Matabelli - Cachet. Still love it.

Revlon - Charlie but hated Moondrops and Intimate (smelt like Cat's Pee)
Fire and Ice (possibly Revlon, not sure)

Dior - Miss Dior (original not the watered down sweet smelling one. Dioressence, Diorella. I think I liked Poison but never bought it.

Loved Vivienne Westwoodis Boudoir, Liberte (?) and naughty Alice

The Agent Provacateur one.

Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely (it is!)

Clinique Aromatics

JPG Classique - love it!

Body Shop (ashamed that I wore Dewberry!), White Musk and the one in the pink bottle that they no longer do, Red Musk

Soap and Glory - the sugar crush one. Yes it is very sweet but love the lime in it.

Hated M&S Florentyna (a present) but like their ISIS and a few others
Next - like a few of theirs.

Tova Signature - I like this (from QVC) and have the solid perfume in a tin as well as the spray.

An old favourite which I can never get now is Helena Rubinstein En Courant (I think it was called), and a girl at college always got Aquarelle at the airport. Smelt nice but never found it.

Hate all Calvin Klein ones but love Ralph Lauren - Polo and some others.
Valentino, XS Pour Elle.
Laura somebody or other -Roma
Davidoff Cool Water and the M&S copy too.

Still adore Clarins Eau Dynamiste - so refreshing!

Another YSL one I liked but it gave me a headache - Yvresse or something.

Quite a list but bound to have missed some off!!!

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 16:31

Sorry one and all, I have written a thesis!

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 16:32

Forgot Jo Malone Grapefruit. Pomegranate Noir
Liz Earle - the citrus one, the one that smell slike Pomegranate Noir (15) and I think 100 unless that has pink peppercorns in then it is the other one.

Badders123 · 06/06/2017 16:35

Please don't apologise it's really interesting 👍

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 16:49

Penhaligons Blue bell and night scented stock (or is that Floris??) How could I forget.

ladyratterley · 06/06/2017 17:06

TEEN
Sunflowers Elizabeth Arden, Anais Anais, Cerutti 1881, Versace Red Jeans, XS pour Elle – Paco Rabanne
Chloe Narcisse – I used to drench myself in this stuff in sixth form!
Sun Moon Stars – Lagerfeld. This was beautiful! Although I think the teenage me wanted it for it’s very on trend bottle.

20’s
Lancome Hypnose – I lived with two guys at the time and both went on to buy this for their girlfriends as they loved it.
JLo Still. I smelt this in a department store when I had very little money and loved it. I had to save up for some.
Angel Innocent – I used this for years from my late teens to 30’s. I was so gutted when they discontinued it. I still have half a bottle I use sparingly. This was my holy grail fragrance and I used to get a lot of compliments on it. I’d love to hear of any similar recommendations.
Nini Ricci, Nina – I began wearing this when Angel Innocent started getting hard to come by. An ex bought me some & he was a total dick so it’s sadly put me off it.

30’s
Burberry Body, Armani Si,Jessica Simpson Fancy (don’t judge me! This is a lovely gourmand scent)
Lolita Lempicka – I’ve used pretty steadily this since around my late 20’s and I keep going back to it. I love it. I think I probably need a break from it right now as I’m starting to get desensitized to the smell.
Jeanne Arthes L’eau de Rose – I’m using this right now as I’m really into rose scents at the moment.

ladyratterley · 06/06/2017 17:10

Sorry, that was an essay!
I've worked out that I love oriental vanilla scents and I like a sweet gourmand.

BusterGonad · 06/06/2017 17:16

I had Agent Provacteur too, I the pink bottle, I was given Lacoste as well which was nice but I wouldn't repurchase. I also had a few various Avons too.

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 17:20

I remember loving Lou Lou as well and Burberry Touch.

Annaanaconda · 06/06/2017 17:23

Teens: White Musk, Oceanus, Miss Dior
20s: Giorgio, Amarige, Paris, YSL Babydoll
30s: Flowerbomb, Harajuku
40s: Liz Earle No. 20, but I would also like No. 15 and No. 9.

BusterGonad · 06/06/2017 17:51

Crikey and be got Vera Wang Princess!

Deathraystare · 06/06/2017 18:17

Oh and yardley Lily of the valley. I have the talc at the moment but no perfume.

BusterGonad · 06/06/2017 20:03

I had Tommy Girl as a body lotion when I was about 17/18. I was actually very nice but too fresh for me, I love a spicey musky oriental! Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/06/2017 20:15

How could I have missed off White Musk and Dewberry from my list?!Grin

Muddlingalongalone · 06/06/2017 20:24

Great thread
I started with the seemingly guy ubiquitous body shop dewberry & impulse something.
My first real perfume was dune, then something light and fruity smelling that came in a silver can (a bit later than ck one but unisex).
At uni it was always Laura biagiotti Roma with the very occasional bottle of Dali perfume (more for the bottle & the luxury of buying it in Harrods)
Since then
DKNY
Gucci Envy
Emporio Armani diamonds until I read the nestle connection
Most recently Miss Dior (edp not edt which doesn't smell so nice on me) until I was beyond skint and got a Lidl one & a next one which were nice but just don't last.
I'm getting a bottle of gucci rush as a present at the weekend. Can't wait to have proper perfume again!

crabwoman · 06/06/2017 20:34

Oooo this is interesting.

Teens: Calvin Klein CKone, JPG classique, Anais Anais, VW boudoir, Agent Provocateur, Hermes Caleche, Angel, Les belles de Ricci liberty fizz and whatever the name of the one in the opaque blue bottle is?

Early 20's Estée Lauder/Tom Ford azuree soleil, Coco Mademoiselle & Chance, Gwen Stefani LAMB.

Late 20's Coco Mademoiselle, Estée Lauder sensuous nude, penhaligon bluebell & Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint

30's (now 33) I wear Fracas/Petit Fracas by Piguet, Jo Malone Amber & Lavender, Prada Iris, guerlain terracotta and loccitaine terre de lumiere

The one that brings back the most vivid memories? Impulse o2!! God, one whiff if that and I'm transported. They discontinued it, the bastards.
